Hey, thank you for this video… very helpful! I wanted to mention that the plate holding the airbag is held to the dash with 4 t-20 screws which are much easier to access! I removed them to get to the 10mm easier and the whole airbag assembly just dropped out! Hopefully that saves you a few minutes on your next caravan/T&C heater core job.
Great video! Really helped me with my 2011. Just wanted to mention a time-saver. Instead of removing the rear mounted air bag from the dash bracket, the entire dash bracket can be removed with the air bag still attached. These bolts are easier to access. Also, it's not necessary imo to remove the hose clamps from the two heater hoses.
You could use a wet vac. To remove the coolant from the heater lines in the engine compartment. I liked the video it was very informative, thank you for the video.
Some videos would show guys cutting those pipes inside to get the heater core out and using hose and clamps to patch it hopefully it's the same set up in my 2014 grand Caravan i trust this way much more.
Hey question, I did exactly what you did and got the job done, but now I have light for a short on knee airbag, tried clearing but it’s a solid fault, any suggestions?
What could possibly leak coolant on driver side of a caravan ? Both heater hoses have been replaced. Lots of coolant is splashed all over top of transmission case and driver control arm and motor mount near radiator . Weird but can't find the source of leak.

So, after changing the heater coil (where the coolant was leaking from) I am still having issues with my temp Guage increasing and lowering while driving. Do you think the water pump? Or thermostat? It's May in going to remove the thermostat. Any suggestions would be cool, but not expected. Thanks! You still rock with the video.

Here is a question for ya. Why would my engine want to overheat when I turn the heat on? Seems like it happens when I am up over 60 miles an hour with the heat on in the winter. If I slow down to say 25 or 30 MPH the temp will ho back down amd then be fine for the rest of the trip.
It's the lack of coolant circulation at 70-80mph or faster the engine is generating much more heat!! If your low on coolant that can cause that or thermostat and heating core. I'm in these problems as well. Fun travels.
05:30 spare tire retainer? Does the caravan have a spare tire? I recently purchased a 2014 caravan and learned to fold the seats down from RU-vid. I'm watching this video because the heater isn't working. I replaced heater cores in my Ford and Chevy trucks before. Didn't even have to take any covers off for the trucks, so easy (just pop the heater core enclosure).
It does have a spare tire under driver and passenger seat, under your console is a spot to crank it down from under vehicle and the bar for that is in the jack kit.
Hi, I have a 2009 that's set up exactly like the one you worked on. The mechanics told me it's going to cost 1,300 to replace the heater core that's leaking, and I feel like I can fix it for only129.00 it. since watching your video Is their price acceptable ? My question, and do you think I can do this? I'm a 59 year old female and have worked on my vehicles before, but this one intimates me a little
I feel it’s a little on the high end. I don’t know their labor rate or shop charge rate. Also with sales tax and what parts they use. If they go to Chrysler than that seams about right. But it is definitely something anyone can do with a little mechanical ability 👍
You could use a cooling system pressure tester and pressurize the system. After pressure drops after a bit start looking for a leak. Usually you can see antifreeze coming from the hvac case drain tube. The tube will either be on the firewall or under the vehicle. I can’t recall exactly on these vans. As for this van there was no leak. It had very weak to no heat and coolant was full. Noticed the hoses going to the firewall was blazing hot and the from the firewall was hardly warm. Both should be hot. Once the core was out there was a noticeable weight difference between new and old. The person had the core flushed twice prior to having me actually fix the issue.

Probably still have an air pocket that needs burped out of the cooling system. After it’s cooled off take the radiator cap off and start the engine. As it warms up squeeze the upper hose to try to work the air out of the system. Or there is an issue with the hvac doors/actuators that was causing your no heat concern.
A leak is why it’s going low. Those had issues with the radiators leaking. But could be a hose, the heater core, even a bad head gasket. Your engine can start consuming the coolant without a drivability issues.
was just told my dodge caravan needed this damn thing. my coolant is supposedly leaking into driver side floor under the gas pedal is what they said. i noticed the coolant burning off quicker than it should and this is supposedly the source of the leak. $500 for the fix. FUCK my life!
