Some people have a natural knack for teaching and you're one of them. This video was the perfect pace, focused on the right things, interposed things to be aware of going forward, wasn't rushed - I wish you produced videos for all makes and models. You made this R&R completely stress-free. Can't thank you enough!

Wife and I watched video 1 &2 together. We started at 9:05 am this morning. She did the bolts and I took care of clamps and plugs. She was filling the radiator with new fluid by 10:15. We can’t thank you enough. We pray blessing on you and your family.

I used your video to replace my radiator on the morning of July 4th. I am not a mechanic, but you gave great instructions and clear information. I changed my radiator, I'm so proud and relieved. I didn't know what we were going to do. We really are not in a financial position to pay a mechanic. Your video helped us out big time! Thank you and God Bless You!

Your 2-part tutorial to do this procedure was EXCELLENT! For those doing this in the future watch this ENTIRE video (parts 1&2) and you are covered. FYI /Tips: If you have that horizontal "cooling line" across the bottom of the radiator (it's mentioned in the video) it can be a bit annoying to disconnect and reattach. Also when reinstalling the new radiator make sure it's seated all the way forward and retained under the top cross-member. Again, excellent video!

Great videos. I watched both videos before getting started. Then I just set my iPad under the hood, where it would be out of my way, and was able to play and pause the videos as I went along. I did have to put a mirror on those bottom clips to see what I was feeling around for, but I finally got them loose. You were not kidding about using a pair of angled needle nose pliers. I need to get a pair. First radiator I have ever pulled. You made it easier than I thought it would be. Thank you so much.

Hi, I'm a retired Master Mechanic myself but took advantage of your R&R video on this one. Helped me in knowing some of the shortcuts and tricks Dodge Mechanics use to GET PAID more than book time by shortening the process as much as possible. Knocked out the whole job in less than 2 hours. I still got it! :D My 2010 Dodge Grand Caravan needs to have the rear valve cover gasket changed out. Losing me a quart every 1500 miles or so. The front one was obviously changed by the previous owner but I recon the rear was too expensive or troublesome to do. Anyway, it's gotta be done. I'm considering removing the cowling to access the rear bank's top end. I know I can also remove the intake and get at it that way but what a pain in the ars to R&R including all the extra replacement parts. Like they say, if it ain't broke, don't fix it! ;) I believe the PCV valve hasn't ever been changed either and it's hose is dry rotted and brittle anyway. I think it's also causing a slightly rough idle too. Kind of missing when it's idling at around 650 RPM in gear no A/C running. Smoother idle when A/C is running but RPM's are up to as high as 850 when A/C and cooling fan are active. What steps would you recommend to change out the rear valve cover gasket etc. without too much hassle and extra parts? Your tutorials are excellent! Keep up the good work! Thank you! Sparky

Thanks for taking the time to make this video!! You saved me (and others) a lot of $$$. You put great detail and excellent video shots to make the job easy. The only thing that I had a hard time with were the bottom clips holding the A/C condenser to the radiator (couldn't get needle nose pliers in there). I finally sprayed WD-40 on the clips, waited a few minutes, and they popped right off using just my fingers. Thanks again!!!

Followed this exactly and worked great for my 2015 sxt flex fuel. The only adjustments I made was to 1. remove the top bracket before removing fan. I couldn't get to the second wire harness because it's very tight space compared to the video. Some bolts were rusted and a few clips broke but was able to get them off and found replacements at oreilly luckily. 2. Struggled hard to pinch the lower fastners as I had that line running on the bottom like in the video. I ended up removing the passenger front tire and it gave me plenty of room to go underneath and pinch off. 3. I had so much trouble on the bottom clips that I decided to just remove the bumper. Was extremely easy and made the reinstalling process way easier. Wish I did that in the beginning, it was worth the effort and I highly recommend. I did have to buy a few plastic tree fasteners cuz I broke two while taking the bumper off, but worth the $3 for the time it saved me and I could have saved them if I took my time. Thanks for the video! Saved me tons of money from taking it in.

thanks so much for this video.. I probably couldn't have done it without it. The hardest part is getting those bottom clips that connect the power steering line. The important thing is to make sure you separate the AC cooler from the radiator (lift up on both sides and separate). Complete job took about 4 hours, but I spent an hour messing with those bottom clips. Btw, local dealership wanted about $800 to do the job. Local auto parts store wanted $225 for the radiator. Ebay sells them new for $50. So if you buy the radiator on ebay, you can watch this video and do it yourself and save $$$
@MotorCityMechanic

Awesome! I dont know how much faith I have in a $50.00 radiator but time will tell. Its all about knowing the steps and having some basic tools and not being scared of trying. As you saw....its do-able and if you have the free time.....you wallet will thank you. Thats money that can be spent on other important items. Thanks again for the feedback on how it went. Just finished doing this. @1:15 The radiator overflow comes out A LOT easier _after_ the upper radiator hose is disconnected. Initially, you can just drop it on the ground through the engine compartment. @1:53 There is a cover ... at least on my '12 DGC ... that needs to come off in order to get this view. Upside is that cover just pops right off. @2:20 I have a 6" notched pry bar that worked just like his trip removal tool. Don't know where I got it ... have had it forever. @2:35 There's not that much room. I used the short end of my pry bar and it worked like the screwdriver. But I was able to get in a tight space at a 90 deg angle. @4:00 Getting the fan shroud off the blocking fingers is a piece of cake. Getting the fan assembly out of the car is a royal PITA. Be prepared to fight with it, but it does come out. @4:42 Yeah. Do it in this order. I drained the radiator way before this step, and it was a PITA to get to. Shoulda followed the directions! @5:20 One of those clamp pliers tools would be _way_ helpful. I used my regular pliers. And, my clamps didn't slide on the hose as easily as his. ibid The upper end of my upper hose had a hose clamp that screwed down to tighten. The others had the kind in the video. Looking back, I'd replace them with the screwdriver ones. Everything else in this section of the video went very smoothly, and was as shown.

I watched both parts, too. The repair manual says 2.6 hours. I haven't repaired/replaced a radiator in 20 years. I did the job in 1/5 hours, on a 2008 Chrysler T&C. The one thing I recommend is to (carefully) remove the grill. Makes getting to the cooling lines in the front easier.

Just did mine. Get everything else loose and hoses off then you can lift up on the radiator and move it towards the engine. Put your arm in at the center, R arm for driver's side L arm for passenger. You can reach down and put your fingers right on it. Just when I was thinking about getting a mirror to see what was going on down there I touched the clip and the line popped off. Hope this helps someone else.

So no transmission cooling lines to deal with like on my older 2005? My 2008 T&C is the 3.8 so will it be the same as your video shows? Also, any suggestions on flushing engine first before taking out old or steps for once the new rad is in place, I'm assuming just reverse the steps, to properly fill and burp or anything tricky?

Thanks for the great info David. I dont mind taking it apart but would like to diagnose where and what is causing before replacing the radiator. The wife complained total coolant loss due to leak in the driver front side (top side to be precise) of the radiator. Is this common in these vehicles...thanks again
@MotorCityMechanic
@MotorCityMechanic 8 лет назад
+Manie Va Morning, it is a possible cause of your leak. I wouldn't say its common but I do see it from time to time. If need be you can get a coolant pressure tester from your local parts store under their tool loaner program. Just depends on your location and the parts store. I appreciate the comment and for finding/watching my videos. Make sure to subscribe as well!

2011 and newer come with a 3.6, does the radiator stay the same for the newer years or does it also change when the engine changes?
@MotorCityMechanic
@MotorCityMechanic 5 лет назад
I dont have access to the parts info. A quick search online shows 2008-2014 being the same...possibly other years as well.....I dont see why not but not 100% sure

Awesome job. this would have been very tricky without the video. Pay special attention to the "Clips", especially the ones that hold the power steering pipe to the lower radiator. otherwise this is an easy do it yourself job. was quoted $850 at the dealer. I got it done in 2 hrs for $187.

also put a new pcv valve in and cleaned out the egr valve.. new brakes and rotors on yesterday. midas tried telling my gf that her calipers were bad.. nope! no indication of brake fluid in the wheel wells and no leaking from the Pistons or bleeding valves.. crazy how some shops try to pull fast ones on people! next up tmmw is the back brakes.. thanks for making these videos bro.. life saver.. have yourself a blessed week..

Wow.....sounds like you saved enough money to take on some other needed repairs. Someone is racking up on the brownie points lol. There are some mechanics that give the rest of us a bad name for sure. Its always best to get a second opinion and also to google the issue and see what info it out there.....just like these videos.
@marke6196
@marke6196 7 лет назад
Absolutely! Seriously brownie points...lol :). yah for the brakes, rotors, calipers, back brake pads, and radiator they quoted 1600$.. I actually bought both calipers(57$ a piece) not knowing which could be bad, back brakes, new front rotors/ brakes, radiator, 3 gallons of coolant, pressure tester kit (75$ returnable ), pcv valve, all for 725$.. after taking everything back should be around 500$.. insanity!

Nothing wrong with that. I little bit of searching on youtube.....a few minutes of your time watching my videos....some basic tools and mechanical knowledge......BAM! Money in the bank and now your the hero to your girl friend. Its cool to see the affect that the videos have.

Not even maybe on my 2016 Town and Country I don't know what you removed before you started this video but the room between your fan assembly and engine block is 5 times more than what I have. I don't have room to lift the fan up out of the locks and then move it toward the engine. Hitting an electrical connector and something else and if I try to raise it above the connector, it hits both the filler cap and something on the opposite end of the rad. I'm only doing this to access a bolt on the Alt. So much crap compared to my 07 Dodge grand. :(
@mydashcamincase3852
@mydashcamincase3852 7 лет назад
And the issue is, apparently where ever you are shooting your video from, you used a 3.8 as opposed to a 3.6. My top rad hose goes right across the front of the engine and in no way do I have the room you are showing. I'll search out another video. For future reference, you may want to include which engine you are working on when there is more than one option. :) The video did help a little but not enough to complete the job.
@MotorCityMechanic
@MotorCityMechanic 7 лет назад
You are absolutely correct about the engine size. I do want to bring an item up....did you see the video I did on the alternator removal on the 3.6 in that vehicle. Do to the lack of space as you have seen.....I feel the alternator removal out the bottom is the easiest. You dont need a lift but you do need a jack and jack stands or drive on ramps so that you could access it. I know your done with the job but make sure to check out the video to see another way to remove it. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-W3GwfoV7uIk.html

Don't use a tool to tighten your rad drain petcock bc itll break sooner or later. It happened to me and I wasn't cranking on it too bad. Hand tight is fine.

Check between the radiator fan and the drivers side headlamp assembly. It should be right in that area.

Recently my radiator fan comes on for about 5 to 10 seconds and then turns off, what could be wrong?
@MotorCityMechanic
@MotorCityMechanic 5 лет назад
Thats hard to say.....not something I can remember coming across. I would start with checking all the modules for any code using a scanner that can access all of them.....not your basic code reader. One question......did this start happening? Are you starting to use the a/c again depending on the part of the country your in? Just wanting to see if it has something to do with the a/c being on.
@eyesonthefly
@eyesonthefly 5 лет назад
@@MotorCityMechanic just recently and no I'm not using the a/c. There's no light it's just when the fan kicks it seems it draws in a lot of juice but it hasn't over heated while idling for a while. I could be imagining it.
