I really love the Challenger, it's a very iconic car. I hope, I can afford one someday. Currently I have a 2010 300 with 3.5 V6 and 5-speed Automatic. It's Not the fastest, but very comfortabel and reliable in the last years to me. Don't need that much of performance while daily driving.
It’s nice that no matter the engine, all the challengers look fantastic! My 3.5L Charger is still kicking as well, kept it in the family and is being daily driven, must have 220,000 miles on it by now
Do you need that performance in a daily no...do you want it hell yes! I'm right there with you truly hope to afford 11-14 challenger srt8 someday. I have to have the 6spd and in a perfect world it would be plum crazy as well. Worried they are going to climb faster now that the v8 challenger/charger are done. If anything we will get a crashed/clapped out one and go the crate engine route 💪
@@WyattWillis88 just get a retired govt AWD charger with the V8 . They are more aerodynamic and have a higher top speed and are faster in the 1/4 and have way more useable space and I'm figuring out that the Durango suspension, well 80% swaps over to the charger.
Fantastic!! Thank you for that one . As a Challenger owner it was nice to see the comparisons. Keep on bringing it, with your great content and informative videos . 😎
Great video. I owned a 2016 Scat Pack 392 Shaker with a 6 speed manual. My best 0-60 was 4.2. I traded it in for a new in 2019 1320 Challenger. Also a 392 Hemi. My best 0-60 is a 3.6 and I routinely hit 3.8 without issue. The transbrake, Demon suspension and factory drag radials make it the 1320 the most consistant Challenger of them all. Plus they are very rare. If you can find one, buy it.
@@Johnnyboybravo i feel it could serve well as a daily. You might consider getting a set of tires for daily use and switch back to the drag radials when you want to put it to work. The nexens wont last long under daily use. I got about 9k miles out of mine. I actually had to make the hard decision to trade my 1320 in about a month ago for a 2024 Ram Rebel. A truck just suited the current needs in my life right now more than a garage princess. I miss the 1320 but no regrets in getting the Rebel. I was overly obsessed with being paranoid that something would happen to the 1320. Like some idiot crashing into it or being stolen. I really took much care in protecting it from idiots. I feel a relief of that constant fear with the truck. I still take great care when i park it as far from door dings ect, but it wont kill me if some asshat causes damage to the truck. I knew the 1320 was special. I treated it as such. Hope that makes sense. I just dont trust people to care for my property as much as I do. Having the truck (which I love a lot) is less of a worry for me. Plus it is just more practical for my needs. If I could have both I would. But i would want a Demon for a daily either. For the same reasons.
I had a 2017 challenger R/T 8 speed auto I put demon reps with 305 BF goood rich tires and got the 0-60 in 4.4 I later sold that car and got a 2016 challenger 392 shaker 6 speed manual I put the same wheels 305 and a coil over kit with strut bars and got 0-60 3.9 seconds I could never find a good straight spot to do quarter mile for both
Loved my 2019 Challenger Scat Widebody but sold it in 2021 for more than I paid for it new. 4.2s 0-60 was best I could do given traction. Now driving a 2023 Tesla M3P that does 3.2s 0-60 on the street. Paid same price for it new as I sold my Scat for used ($44K).
The only thing I will add is concrete is waaaay better than asphalt. My numbers with my Challenger always changed because of the surface. Never tried it in a track yet
The only complaint I have is that the Challenger is like the only car besides the Supra that maintained its striking aesthetics. I think alot can beat challengers performance wise, but hard to beat them on the driveby. Theyre cheap on fitment but still manage to be great cruisers when the cloutchaser crowd isnt slamming into a lightpole trying to hang out the window to tell you their instagram. My TA392 feels like im in a continental that turns into a mopar when I kick on track mode, cool roadtripper/touring car too.
Comparisons were random, I had lists of the same times and picked cool cars 😂 some cars never came up if they were let’s say 4.6 seconds and the Dodge was 4.5
Love the demon 170. But looking forward to the Durango hellcat, just a little bit more. Hoping for something that would be equivalent to the interceptor, for the movie, The Wrath 🙏 please Dodge, hook a brother up. We need a new viper equivalent.
I just bought a 2021 RT Plus with the ZF8 speed and I must say, I’m ok with sacrificing some power that would get me in more trouble for the creature comforts of the plus package and I still have a badass 5.7 v8. I always said, I rather look good slow in my challenger than look stupid crashing into a crowd in a Mustang.
@@jeffdohse7124 because I don’t feel like at the current market that a 392 is worth all the extra costs. I am not racing, so the extra power doesn’t matter, and if I was racing I wouldn’t use the MOPAR platform if I am just racing, and the added extra costs of insurance, gas cuz the 392 only requires 93 and the other little things, the 5.7 is the better daily with usable power.
@@Bullioncolin Looked @ the price of a 2023 R/T 5.7 with cloth interior it was $47,900 (no markup) but wanted a Scat. Found a 2021 with 7100 miles, Nappa interior, Plus package, memory seating, '1320' package listed for $51,000 negotiated for $49,000.
@@Bullioncolin I've daily driven a 2004 Hemi Ram 'Rumblebee' edition for 19.5 years So being used to 10/11mpg on 89 Octane; it wasn't hard to stomach 14/15 on 93 for the Scat. But hey if you got the car packaged how you wanted then awesome, Most dealers weren't budging on prices (Mustangs, Challengers, F150's or Rams)
@@jeffdohse7124 that’s a good deal but I got my 2021 R/T plus at 40k miles with a lifetime powertrain warranty( yes it really has that), 1 owner no accidents for 25,400 with my accord as a trade in and the initial out the door price was 28500. Idk dude, I got a pretty damn amazing deal.
Altima? Before my hemi charger I had a 3.5 maxima making 290hp. With the cvt there was no power curve, just 290hp from when it was floored to when you let off. I have video of that too. If memory serves it was about 14.5-15.2 depending on tires, launch and atmospheric conditions.
the posted times for the 6.4L scat pack 8-speed Auto are pretty subjective. they can range quite a bit depending on where you live. in Las Vegas where the DA sucks, i get a 4.2sec 0-60 time with a Quarter Mile time of 12.53 @ 110. 60 foot time of 1.82 sec. That's pretty spot on to what you posted. The "Racer X" RU-vid channel has a bone stock scat pack shaker narrow body (in Texas at that time) that ran a 11.524 sec Quarter Mile @ 117.56 mph. 60 foot time of 1.63 sec. A bit faster than your posted 1320 drag pack time. that is a full second in the quarter depending on how good the air is where you live.
The 5.7L TA's put out around 400 HP and the about 410 TQ. The 6.4L TA's have about 500 HP, and 510 TQ. The TA's are in a class by themselves, don't lump these models in with the slower 5.7's and 6.4's. This is due to actual functioning ram air and other little tweaks with the exhaust.
I have to disagree. I actually had done research on this. Motor Trend reviewed a 2017 T/A 5.7L and still hit 0-60 in 5.0 seconds and 1/4 mile in 13.6 sec. The T/A only adds a Mopar cold air intake as far I can see, which might be 10 extra horsepower max (there’s also lots of debate just how much the intake adds especially a Mopar version). That could be good for 0.1 tenths of a second max theoretically, if not almost the same. Kind of like the entire 06-10 Charger generation. Daytonas and Road and Tracks came with a bigger airbox and “less restrictive exhaust”, and Dodge even claimed 350 hp instead of 340. Didn’t make a difference for performance and wasn’t a big improvement for anyone.
@@MarspeedCars Well, my 5.7L TA Challenger is the fastest car I have ever owned, which included a 1972 Nova with a 350 and no emissions. I even forgot about the CAI that comes stock on the TA's which does add a bit of HP. But if you say its negligible, I'll take your word for it. I was a little disappointed that it has the same numbers as a V6 Camero, but I guess it on account of the weight of the Challengers. I do find your videos very informative.
@CTripodi1965 T/A is a graphics package it has nothing to do with performance. The T/A package use to come with the 6 piston brembos that was the only performance option that came with it all else's is cosmetic. But even in 2019 they phased that out into its own add on.
Incorrect. The stock airbox that come on these engines can flow over 1000cfm; which is more than the engine will ever need. The TA is nothing but an appearance package.
I have a Challenger Redeye, and seeing this video comparing my Redeye to upgrade to a Super Stock is not worth it. But to upgrade my Redeye to a Demon or Demon 170 is worth it but it’s ridiculous overpriced with all this MSRP mark up.
I would agree with you. You don’t really get much on the Super Stock (other than Track mode, Demon traction control, +10 hp, 3.09 gears (you could also have these on the Redeye as an option), and the 18x11” wheels with drag radials (which won’t fit the Redeye unless you downsize the brakes). So not much difference, most of it is the wheel/tire setup in my opinion. I’m sure you could definitely feel a difference in the Demon but yeah hard to get your hands on one let alone for the crazy markups people want for either a 2018 or 2023!
@@MarspeedCars My Redeye has Track mode and 3.09 gears. I just need a pair of drag radials wheel/tires set up for the rear. Because the Redeye already comes with small brakes on the rear and is as good as a Super Stock. The thing that I like about the Redeye vs Super Stock is that the Redeye is good for both Drag racing and Track racing due to Redeye having 6 piston brakes in the front and suspension being tune for track vs the Super Stock only good for Drag racing having front 4 piston brakes and suspension being tune for drag.
They have the 8 Speed Tuned so awesome in my 21 Touring, it definitely makes the car feel stronger than what its rated at. The Shifts are really quick and precise, never searching for gears. You get a nice clean kick from each shift too, and the power just feels endless with all them gears.
@@MarspeedCars Honestly 0-60 is a stupid measurement of a cars capability, when people ask me this of my car I just internally roll my minds eye. This should have been quarter mile trap speeds if you wanted true power/weight performance comparison.
@@sdmoparmaninsd6713 I agree with you but the problem is there’s very little good footage of these cars going the 1/4 mile. So I would just be talking about times or showing charts and it wouldn’t be the best. 0-60 allows me to do a video for a lot of different vehicles
I tried to show a manual video when I could, but unfortunately the manual times are too hard to find/will vary wildly based on driver and ability. Did what I could
Until the Demon, the Charger was always faster in this generation. More rear weight bias helped launch it better and better aerodynamics gave it a higher top speed. With the 2015 Hellcats, the Challenger topped out at 199 vs 204 for the narrow body Charger Hellcat
This is all fine and dandy, but there’s not a single Challenger or Charger that’ll beat a Plaid Model S or Lucid Sapphire. Even a 6 passenger Model X Plaid will beat them all. Not even the Demon nor Hellcat. Even a lowly Model 3 Performance will beat almost all of them.
Well the Demon ties it and Demon 170 beats it (on paper). I show the Model S Plaid in some charts in here. But those are the only ones, and I think it’s pretty impressive for Dodge to have that performance still with an ICE motor. Can’t deny that electric is faster
@@MarspeedCarsthe 170 was on a prepped track on Ethanol. No way , no how is it doing that on the street. FWIW, Dragtimes and others have run 9.2xx on the street at 151 mph in a Model S Plaid . Street tires, no track prep. On the street.
Hilarious you put street condition numbers for the 2020 GT500. You do know it can do 3.3 to 60 and 10.6 at the 1320 but no you put up street condition numbers so it won’t hurt your mopar feeling.
Not trying to prop Mopar up, it’s not a big deal to me to say they are faster or slower. For the comparison charts I’m doing control-f to find the same number through a big database. It may not be 100% accurate or track times etc. but I felt they were all close enough
