In this video I share the continuous shift in prices downward on our beloved Dodge Charger and Challenger Hellcat, Scat Packs, RT's etc. Follow me on Instagram, Tiktok, and Facebook at OCMotivator
Definitely not in school… they are like hey you just finished 12 years of indoctrination, saddle yourself up for 100k college debt for some additional indoctrination 😅 we are brought up to be debt slaves. Fucked up indeed
you know, that's funny you say that, i remember asking my HS teacher about "how to make money efficiently" I was a junior at the time and he looked at me like I said the most dreaded thing ever he literally was silent for 20 seconds, and told me to take my seat, then that night my school called my parents and said was suspended for "making trouble" in my classroom. SMH that alone says a lot about what the world doesn't want the masses to know anything about how money actually works.. its actually scary come to think of it
Welcome to America, where most Americans have lived paycheck to paycheck for decades. Most Americans haven’t been able to afford a $1000 emergency for decades ….the more money people make the more they spend. I use to be the same and I’ve seen it happen among family and friends
Exactly, it didn't take a crystal ball to know what would happen a couple of years later. Also, banks were loaning at 120-140 percent of MSRP and are now crying about people defaulting on the loans.
This is why after my car was totalled, I purchased a 2003 Buick LaSaber. Screw these over inflated prices and interest. That old Grandma car has served me well over the last three years since then and once the market gets back on track, I'll get something else... But I'm gonna keep driving that grandma mobile till it dies
All true. I have a paid off 1 owner of 2015 Dodge Charger Road & Track and when this was paid off last year. I bought a 2023 Dodge Challenger Skatpack. I refininanced my Skatpack and went from $1045.00 per month car payment to $887.00 car payment. I am older and good credit and good driving record and my insurance for full coverage 2023 Skatpack and liability and uninsured motorist on charger... total insurance for both $443 a month for insurance.. I make good money and I work from home. I am lucky. I dont know about how others would be.
@@mugsie101 This is terrible lol. We paid $220/month for insurance on my Widebody Scat, brand new Audi Q4, brand new Nissan Frontier. My payments on the Widebody were $567
@@allanhood4397 If you buy a brand new 2023 Dodge Charger/Skatpack... the insurance is higher now. This is the norm now. What is going on now, younger guys buy a new car and don't take in account the increase insurance rates and now cannot afford the insurance on a new car, with full coverage.
Every time I see one of these special edition challengers or chargers flying by me, my first thought is "how much of a markup did they buy it with and can they really afford it"??
@@greglane3978 I have two cars and my combined payment alone is 1800 a month before insurance or gas. Luckily I make good money so it does not affect me.
Sorry to say but the people who are upside down, they're just stuck for now. The only options you have is give it back and destroy your credit or just keep making the payments over time until the loan is finally paid. It's very sad but nobody made them sign that note. Sometimes the best deal for you is the one you don't make.
Got myself a charger back in 2019 and was really wanting to get a last call challenger, but we couldn't come to a deal on what I was willing to pay. After watching this video and hearing your comments in past videos, it makes me so glad that I stuck to my guns and left instead of getting sucked in and now being upside down on it.
I rented a Scat Pack from Hertz.....Rented it....took it Home pulled the Engine.....Then dropped a 6CLY in and took that car Back....that was the Best rental agreement I ever signed
lol. I heard stories about this being done since the mustang days. Back in the 70's 🤣🤣🤣. But now with all the sensors on the engines don't know how that will turn out. 😅
You mean I paid 80k for my skat pack and it did not INCREASE in value?!? Who would have thunk it. Poor Saps who are stuck in these horrid loans now get to either repo and credit smash or keep paying 750+ a month on an overpriced Chrysler product that they should have never purchased from greedy dealerships to begin with. Those dealers get ZERO sympathy from me. Let those cars rot on the lot. Those of us that did not get suckered and saw the crash a mile away are poised to get some fantastic deals while the new/used industry burns. I see this as a total win for consumers. Get it from the factory and let these dealerships go the way of the dodo.
@@ChrisDavis333I was looking for a new daily. A new 36k Camry with Toyotas special finance offer of 2.99 and 10 percent down is 650 a month for a damn Camry. I have a 2011 Civic with 185k miles that I’ve never had to fix anything other than regular maintenance so it’s looking like im driving that until the engine blows which will probably be never 😂
A coworker of mine at Amazon had to give back his 2018 392 to his mom. 800$/month. Dude ended up buying a 1990 frontier for 1,000$. Some times it's hard lessons like this that humble individuals
I'm very glad I followed your advice. I just picked up a brand new 23 Scat Pack Challenger for 39k,...$10,000 off the MSRP....in northern California. No add-ons, no bs, salesman advised sales (at a very large Dodge, Ram, Jeep dealer) have fallen 50% in the last year.
Got my '23 Chrysler 300C SRT for $55K, financed $35K, had $20K in cash saved up over several years, like my monthly payment of $638/month. Not thinking I'm upside down on this deal myself, although $55K was MSRP on these limited edition Chryslers, someone else paid the full sticker price which would be about 10 grand or better and I got it with 1495 miles on it from an independent car dealer. The factory stealerships are now realizing that the chickens have come home to roost, and they are the ones upside down now. I toss an extra grand a month at this loan and it is being paid down quickly. Oh, and I like my insurance costs on this car, it is listed as a "Chrysler 300" with no details. Thanks for a cool and informative video!
Still a 10k markup around here on a scat pack challenger and to top it off 9.xx% interest over 5 years. Lol good luck with that. 82k with markups is the sticker. I’d like to own one but at least 20k needs to come off and interest rates need to 2-3 % at most.
Just bought a brand new 23 Hellcat Jailbreak for a little more than $10k under msrp out the door from a Florida dealer. There are deals out there now with dealers having to dump these cars after sitting on them for 200+ days.
Luckily I got my 2023 Challenger WB Hellcat at msrp. I ordered it in November of 22 and got it in May of 23. Dealer never asked for over msrp, which I wouldn’t have paid anyway. Still paid mid-80’s for a Dodge so that’s not great. But I love the car.
These are all base price + destination charge of a Challenger Scat Pack (meaning they would be the MSRP of a bare bones model w/6-spd manual trans) by model year: 2018: $40,090 2019: $40,390 2020: $40,490 2021: $42,140 2022: $46,650 2023 (manufactured early in the year): $47,440 2023 (manufactured mid year): $48,860 2023 (manufactured late in the year): $49,860
I had a special order 22 scat shaker, with just about all the options, that I bought as a business purchase. I financed nothing, and it was good. I subsequently sold my business in January 24 and sold the car because I was not personally going to pay $1100 a month for a car. My plan now is to purchase a Hellcat around October once prices are lower, possibly through my new business. All this is why I have credit in the 800's. Buy the stuff you want through a business or when the prices are good.
I agree with everything you said, however I firmly believe that Scat-Pack and up to the Demo 170 will become more valuable after several years. The cars emot a feeling that no EV can match, plus they look great too. I believe that people who would like a Challenger Hemi car now and can't afford it, they will buy one a few years later when they make some cash. Unless gasoline is outlawed, or AI has completely taken over
I love it. Dealers and people are getting desperate. The deals will come. No one is without guilt. Dealers over charged, banks financed, and customers were dumb enough to agreed. I’ll wait till someone who is looking to let go of a Supra for a burning deal.
The dealership I work for received 1 Demon 170. Black. Sticker was just over 125k with the options the sales department spec’d out. We received it in January of 24. Boom 250k. It sat for a few weeks. Price dropped to 199,000. Someone I know looked at it who has a business that makes decent money. He really considered it. But wasn’t willing to pay over 150k period. We sold the car for 169k.
I bought my 16 scat pack challenger white w red interior manual 28k miles in 2021 for $37,500. I put $7500 down and paid $598 for 60 months. It now has 36k miles and I have a year from august left. I leased my wife a 2024 Mazda cx90 turbo s premium. It’s my 3rd Mazda suv. The guy asked me what do u want to pay put down. I said 3k 3 years 10k miles a year no more then $500 a month. He asked the owner that I’ve spoken to a few times. Came back and said done. Similar situation w my scat. My point is these dealerships can do whatever the fu$k they want literally. So if u let them fu$k you they will, DON’T LET THEM!!
As the V8 (particularly widebody) new inventory has managed to dissipate into the Spring, used values are doing a bit better than they were over the last couple of months. I’ve gone from $6-7K upside down on my ‘22 WBSP to about $2-3K. If the value holds for a couple more months I’ll be even on the equity! It was hard to stomach losing $15K in value suddenly over a period of around six months, but that’s the nature of car market crashes. 🤷🏼♂️
Sold my 21 Widebody Scat last August for $50k in August 23. I had 0% interest and walked away with a check for $20k. Today I could easily get a narrow body last call for less than $50k. Last call means nothing and these cars will not appreciate in value for decades. Best decision I ever made, turned that $20k into $60k in the stock market.
That specific dealership is full of games that you are referring to Stanley Dodge hey I attempted to get multiple vehicles at one time. They blocked me when I had the funding for all of them
I just got a new 2023 Scat Pack Wide Body with an MSRP of 63k for 45k with no add ons to the price. What do you think? I was going to try and holdout a little longer but I didn’t want to have to settle for a color or optioned car I didn’t really want.
Can’t say I ever purchased anything more then msrp or retail pricing. I waited almost a year to buy a scat for a price I thought was fair. Grabbed one a few weeks ago for $44125 with plus package, sunroof and Harman Kardon sound system. Do your homework and not give in
Interesting question is there any websites you can go to with people who are wanting to give their payments up so you can take the payments over on their vehicle instead of taking it to the dealer where they just find somebody to take the payments over online instead
The ONLY car that was price right and fair was the 2023 Chrysler 300c .For a COMPLETELY loaded 392 HEMI for 56,595 was a STEAL all leather HellCat seats ,adjustable pedal etc etc that is the one to have.
I've been looking for a low mileage Redeye/Hellcat widebody challenger thats an automatic and a non smoker in the color of Hellraisin. Its somewhat of a challenge to find a good clean one that hasn't had the shit beat out of it.
There not lying to you, I work at some. Of the biggest car auctions in New England. I have the price list and I'm on the floor when there selling these cars. Some of the prices are unbelievable.
I'm extremely happy with my Mopars! Dodge is only company that actually made an American Muscle Car rather than the average pony car. My Mopars don't have computer screens for an instrument cluster or any iPads sticking out of the dash (Ford) We're driving the last American Muscle cars ever. Just enjoy them folks.
I have about $9600 in equity in my 2020 Dodge Challenger GT but I can't get Dodge to come down even $100 on their MSRP's on any Dodge dealer in California selling a used 2020-2022 used R/T. It's absolutely crazy.
In 2014 I refinanced my home when interest rate was 2% lower. So I borrowed $30k extra into the loan and my mortgage was still lower.😊 I'm not into paying off my home. I'm selling this 1.1 million dollar home and moving back to my other house. So I look at it as my 12 Charger SRT costing approx only $7700
I’m really interested in a SRT Durango but the ones in my price range have been driven 18-20k miles a year and they’re 2018 mostly even tho they’re pretty reliable it may be better to get a cheaper Rt Durango w less mileage
I Bought a 2021 challenger scat, traded a 2019 Durango rt and got over what I paid for it. Was able to put 7,500 on the 47,600. Scat. I am now sitting at 31,468. With 9,451 miles. I think I’m in good shape. What do you think? Ty
It's common sense. Dodge comes out with all these different "special" edition cars which makes them really, not so special. That makes the value fall like a rock.
I’ve got a 2012. 2nd owner. 60k miles. Paid off. Just can’t see paying these current prices for the same motor. For a ‘12, it’s got heated seats and wheel, 18 speakers, etc. Let’s keep them!
There is something very near and dear to the Future that is coming down the Dodge pipeline it is their 6 cylinder twin turbo. I have not seen this at my work yet as far as used cars go during the oil change industry but I imagine this will turn everything upside down
I said several months ago that we are headed back to the 80s where cars were driven to the ground because you couldn't just swap out. It will be like this for the next 3-5 years
Brad its a Dodge. It's going to go lower than $48,000, a lot lower. No one is going to be driving a Dodge scat or hellcat with 150+ thousand miles they're really only good under warranty or if you fix cars for a living
People are gonna buy regardless. My neighbor bought at 12%, parents who pickup their kids at the elementary school in front of my home have a new car every year (mostly likely due to taxes), heck just drive around in tax season around your city and you’ll notice newer cars being driven 😂
I liked Dodges like 10 years ago when you were the weird kid for liking muscle cars in jr high but now it’s like a trend which really hurt cause it set me back a lot I only paid 50k for my scat pack back in October but it still sucked cause I remember good used hellcats being 40k but on the other hand that popularity led to the Demon 170 which is the best send off the challenger could’ve got it’s sucks that they’re also overpriced but they’re still amazing cars and great way for the challenger to be remembered
And this is why I’ve been holding out I’m not in a rush to make any big purchases right now but best believe on the stars align game on. But until they the dealers can suck it respectfully 😂
My 21 scat wb was stolen last month. I have no choice but to car shop now, unfortunately. It really is hard with these rates skyrocketing your monthly payment.
I see videos like this from every channel now. You'd have to be insane to buy a car in the next few years. I guess I'll have to stick with the Jeep I rebuilt and my 1969 Firebird.
The best thing to do is everyone needs to start throwing low ball offers to the dealers, I do it every time I go in for a oil change and walk the lot lol. 89k Scat pack? I offer 65K
I just bought a brand new challenger sxt sublime green with the fancy black rims with 20 miles for 26k do you guys think i timed the crash right or is there still more down side 😂😂😂
If you don’t make 100k you should not be buying a car that will give you $1000 payment. Unfortunately people don’t realize what they can afford they just see what they want in the dealer or allow them to hang themselves financially.
Looked at a new Charger GT Blacktop edition on a local lot the other day. Total sticker on it was close to $44,000! What are your thoughts on a V-6 Charger at this price? Is that a "fair" price or?? 🤷♂🤷♂
There is no reason to he financing a car if you only make 44k a year!!!! Buy an older car maybe a mechanics special Honda or something she clearly did not think that through.
Man I just gave up on it all and bought a Corolla. If I’m going to be upside down and stuck in something it better be capable of lasting until the end of time. Thankfully the car was so cheap that’s not really an issue anyway. I’d love to have something faster and nicer but I’m so sick of playing this game with dealerships I’d be happy to not step into one for another ten years, at which point I’ll be ready for a new car and another reminder of why I’d rather go to the dentist than buy a car.
Markets on new cars used to be 3%. Not sure what it is now. Car salesmen only made about $90 per car and selling 12 per month is hard. Not sure why anyone would become a salesperson.
I’ve got a Dodge dealer in Michigan with brand new 2023 Dodge Challenger RT’s advertised for $32,065. I called on one and the guy gave me a price over $37,000. I was confused. That’s was after I told him I was putting $4,000 down too. I told him the car was advertised for $32,065. He told me that was employee discount price. Really? So I told him I wanted that $32,000 price and he wouldn’t give it to me. They’ve got quite a few brand new RT’s still sitting on their lot. I’m gonna keep trying to get one for that $32,000 price.
Dodge used to be a car for the working man. But now they moved it price wise into a collector investment car for the rich. Many of these Challengers and Chargers will sit in personal car collections next to Porches and Ferraris, un-driven till years from now they are auctioned off for profit. Even at zero percent interest, it’s still price gouging. Selling anything the rule is “something is only worth what people will pay for it.”
Honestly if you wanna get a car it would be best if you had a Honda and Toyota so you could just wait it out. I still think it's gonna be another 5 years before these prices normalize. We won't get pre COVID prices because of inflation but Maine buying under MSRP might become the standard again
