Thank you for the video. Thanks for the socket size info too. The tip about tightening with the weight on the car is a good one. But using bricks to hold up the car is really dangerous. It doesn't have to rock much to fall and bricks can crack and there goes the car on top of you. When I tighten the rear I will probably just put the jack under that rear arm and jack the car an inch off the stand so I don't have to move the jack stand and I still have some safety and the weight on the arm.
This is true. Another method might be to tighten the top bolts on the upper flange and then install the lower bolt hand tight. Then, reinstall the wheels, and raise the vehicle to get a set of ramps under the rear tires. That way there would be clearance to get to the lower bolt. I don’t think I had a set of ramps then.
Great coverage and explanation, I'm about to install new front and rear shocks into my car, any recommendation what else needs to be replaced like strut mounts, insulators, bumpers.. etc. I want to do it all at once. thanks
Qassi3m Actually, I haven’t removed the front struts on this car so I’m probably not the best one to ask. You should be able to go to lxforums.com and download a PDF factory service manual. This should help to guide you in the replacement. I think I would replace any rubber spring isolators. Usually the bumpers are fine to reuse but I would look at the ones on the car to make sure they are intact. Thanks for watching and commenting!
I have the same problem, anyone in or near the Atlanta area that knows how to replace these, please contact me and i'll pay to have mine replaced. I'm willing to travel 50 miles to have it replaced. Thanks.
