A wet and windy wild camp with nothing but OEX gear! I bought, borrowed and begged my way to being able to make this one. I react to and review each item and specify their prices and specs. It was a very interesting and enjoyable experiment and proves that you don't need expensive gear to get out there and enjoy the wilds. Please like and subscribe to help support the channel. For every like I promise I will buy a dog biscuit for the Chezza Pooch.

I personally love the Phoxx 1 and 2. At 1.6kg, the Phoxx 1 is a bombproof little bikepacking tent that can pretty much take anything thrown at it! And for 58 quid, you really can't go wrong!

I suppose its like anything ,we pick and choose the bits of kit for specific purposes. I have one of those yellow mats .but my 13 Yr old son sleeps on it .he is always warm and comfy while my old bones need an expensive sea to summit . We use the lightest oex down bags in summer that are plenty warm enough. Don't need a huge bag when it's warm .also I prefer my banshee over the phoxx 2 that's just a given .

You're dead right matey. It's just interesting to see if you can get your gear from one place and it makes for a video concept. I did find Vango was a good one-stop-shop, you could just go to them and get most everything you need. Thanks a million for the comment. :-)

In my experience with OEX, the Leviathan EV900 and Fathom 400 fall way short of the claimed specs, so I won't recommend either of those two bags!

Yes I've heard bad things tbh. My mate who lent me the bag likes his. These reviews are more of a first time-try-thing, I'm hoping it's fun to watch someone using gear they've never tried before.

Hi. Nice vid. Go Outdoors must love you.😉 Apart from my Robens Starlight 1 tent, All my kit is British Army,bit heavier,but ‘Travel Light, freeze at night’, as a Marine told me once. Not sure why you need a head torch AND another light… All the best.👍🏾🇬🇧

Hey buddy. Cheers for the comment and the subs. Yeah, I'm gonna do a 100% army gear one I think, dig in and all that jazz.

If u put some more effort into blowing the oex mat up it would be more comfortable I have one and it's fine

Hi. Yeah, I'm a bit of a sore hips type of sleeper to be fair. I dont get on well with thinner pads. Thanks for the tip though

Interesting video. I've got a bit of OEX gear as I try and do sub £100 camps (tent, backpack, sleeping bag, sleep mat and sleep pillow) so I pick some up used pretty cheaply. So far OEX has been decent for the gear I've had. I picked up a Mountain Warehouse mat for £12 that was similar to the one you used here, yeah, doesn't offer the most padding!

Great video. I've looked at the OEX gear before but found that the Vango is very similar price and I love my Banshee 200 pro and 300. The only bit of vango kit I've liked is the EV200 summer sleeping bag which packs down small and in the sale was £25. Other than that for budget gear it's vango all the way.

Much appreciated. Yes Vango kicks OEX's arse :-). Love the Vango stuff

Oex great prices on offers but the rrp are fantasy so what you pay on offers is price of value I've a few bits the potset that kinda makes your stove a jetboil it's great the traverse airmat pure poo,and jackal 3 it's huge in two bags into a bag not a one man job but did put it up in garden n seemed a good sturdy tent just need a mule to carry it lol

Thanks for the comment matey. Yeah, I couldn't agree more to be honest. They're aiming at a kind of cheap end Vango market, but it doesn't do it for me, I find it all feeling a little bit like landfill.

The OEX tents are ok I've got a jackal 2 but stuff like the naturehike range are showing them up for being old hat they desperately need a full range redesign going on.
@thegreatoutsiders
@thegreatoutsiders Год назад
I thought the tent I used in the vid (Phoxx 2 ii) wasn't as good as the Banshee, that's all I could really say. Not a fan of the inner first set up either. But they are only £90 odd which is cool isn't it? 5000 hydrostatic head too! Not bad. Just not a fan, personal taste I guess!!

@@thegreatoutsiders yeah I can put up my cloud up 3 or my mongar 2 in less than half the time of the jackal 2.

@zedddddful

@@thegreatoutsiders the jackal is ok but it's slow to put up a pain to get in and out of and heavier than it should be but once you're in it's dry and it's stable in wind.

I think you've been spoiled with posh expensive stuff, as you call it. Peace
@thegreatoutsiders
@thegreatoutsiders Год назад
Definitely. I've spent way too much on gear! I still love me Lanshan though and that's supposed to be budget! Also loved that Vango stove I tried in the other video. I'm just being honest in the video though, I think sometimes it's a false economy buying cheaper stuff, and the OEX stuff really verges on that for me. I mean you get a lot more quality with vango gear for 10 - 20% extra cost, and I think you defo get extra more than 20% extra life out of the Vango gear. :-) Thanks for the comment mate :-)
