Super PlayStation Bros is a weekly Podcast hosted by @Rudiggz and @Doragon86 on @CloudandConsole - / @cloudandconsole Feel free to pop along for a live show. Wednesday's 3pm UTC / 10am Eastern
The point made here is how I feel. We were sold these consoles on the promise of 60fps. If it's 1080p or 1440p, fine. That's still looks great and it's what many people play at on PC. But 30fps is another thing entirely. Now you're affecting fidelity and feeling of the game. You're losing responsiveness and immersion. Why should I go out a few years later and buy another console when I've hardly had any true exclusive experiences on this one? I'm so angry with PlayStation over all of this. They can't get their games out so they want to sell consoles instead. And not to be this guy, because I own both consoles, but honestly, I am more excited and engaged with my XSX lately. However, Hellblade 2 at 30fps is also disappointing. Both XSX and PS5 have 60fps right on the box. How did they get this so wrong?
As you say, it's on the box, even if you buy one Today both sides of the fence state 120 and 60 on the box itself! It's disappointing to say the least, and I do get your excitement being more for Xbox at the moment, we have information which always helps with excitement levels
move the camera slowly, and you can barely tell the difference between 30 & 60fps ... so games with fast camera movement should be 60fps.., while slower, stealthy games can be perfectly fine @30fps
Of course it does and actually even 60fps feels slow and stuttery compared to 120fps. I always try to keep my gaming above 100 so it feels reality smooth. Btw you'll never get a consistent 60fps generation on any console without aggressive upscaling since the hardware has always been and always will be designed for budget gaming so the developers will eventually push hardware limits in their never ending desire to push visual fidelity and the newest software techniques because there's plenty of PC hardware/market that can. Consoles unfortunately will always be the weakest hardware in the industry and will always be on a decline as it's generation moves forward and the scary part is this generation is only at the halfway mark and we are at 30 FPS so in the next couple years of new games consoles are going to be struggling to even hit 30 without drastically reducing the graphical fidelity.
Im in full agreement with Doragon here. We see developers saying it's an artistic choice. It's really not. Just come out and say, "we can't hit 60fps on the hardware with the vision of graphical fidelity we have." Gamers will respect that more. 1440p 60fps should be the minimum this generation. Then, the console players have a solid base to build off to get to that 4k60fps in the future.
