Is paying to have your AC unit cleaned really worth it? Should you pay for that HVAC tune up? Does it really make your unit more efficient with lower power draw? Lets put this to the test.
Nice video 👍 The bigger picture behind this is that the system is not going to have to run as long to Conditon the space so even if the amp draw didn't drop, it would use less power consumption in the long run 🤝
If I put a koi pond near it... and make a little solar recirc fountain pump to keep the coil wet and drain back to the pond 1) it's probably not legal lol 2) do you think I could hold down around 14amp?
@@diymacgyverguy8054 yes, as long as the koy pond has fairly cool water. 😎 but then you might as well take the fan off and wire the pump in with the contactor lol.. then you have a swamp cooler 🤣
@@VictorofHVAC Thats not a bad idea, I bet the fan alone pulls 200+ watts. I think I either need to keep the fan and sprinkle water over the coil or I could take off the fan and cut the coil out and move the coil and submerge it in the pond.
That's what I've heard, it's R22 as well which is a better refrigerant. I've always wanted to stick a modern efficient compressor on designed for 410 of the same volume and try swapping it out. The super efficient compressors of today + the better refrigerant would be great efficiency. Do you think that's possible?
@@diymacgyverguy8054 With a really nerdie HVAC person, it might be possible. But the strength of your unit is the metals used. Once you cut them, all bets are off.
Is gonna still help, cause the house is gonna cool down faster so, the unit is gonna be running less time, cause is gonna be more efficient. With a dirty coil can take probably 30 minutes for put a time, but with the clean cool is gonna take 20 minutes. I keep mine clean as new at least every 6 months I clean everything.
I should have had a temp probe inside on my air intake and vent to see if the tenp difference was say 15 degrees instead of 14 degrees.. that'd probably be a huge difference in how fast the house cools down
