Our lifetime of TOOL RANKINGS torquetestchan... A lot of speculation over the years as to if IR's switch to "Made in China" resulted in a lesser tool, let's find out.
I wonder how many people would have even considered the possibility that the Chinese-made model’s higher performance claims to be legit instead of simply inflating numbers. I was definitely skeptical.
@@iwillbnnedafterispeakwhy6498 FCA and GM probably owe people like you a fruit basket for allowing them to sell inferior products. Bombardier should send me one, as well.
Is the 231C/H not on the list? I have a 2235ti (which works 90% of the time) but I always have to borrow dad's 231 in order to break loose stubborn bolts. Maybe it's a one-off, but his 231 definitely breaks loose bolts that my Ti simply can't handle...proven time and time again unfortunately (using the same air line and fittings)
How can a video have almost 9k views and not even 400 likes? People! Duh, if you watched it, you'd be a bigger price than me to roll on to the next one without hitting the like button. Cmon already sheeesh
You can definitely hear a difference between the US and China made, the China sounds like it's has more IPM than the US version. Nice to see that just bc it's from China that the numbers weren't fudged/inflated. Great video as always 👍👍
Sounds...louder, wonder if it just uses more air? Feels hard to compare without knowing how long you can run them without having to wait for the compressor to recharge
Great video.. My old 231 was stolen and I ordered the 231C. when I unboxed it and saw China my hopes immediately faded but thanks to your video i am gonna add some oil and give it a shot.. Thx!
I think the difference is the exhaust I have the 231c the 231h and the original 231. The original and the c seem to have the same amount of torque both have front exhaust. the h seems to have less and has a handle exhaust.
It would take an engineer to answer the question but are the differences in out put due to old style OSHA hating front exhaust vs new style bottom of handle exhaust ??
I have one of the very first modle of the IR 231c, I bought it back when I was in high school working I a truck shop(1984). It's never been rebuilt, I'm wondering if it's worth rebuilding or getting a new one. It still works okay but it's starting to struggle and the ring keeper for the socket doesn't last long when replaced. Any suggestions on good rebuilding kits or a good company that does rebuilds. Thanks
I bought a kit about 7 years ago from zorotools.com I bought a oem ring keeper never had a problem. They are easy to rebuild. When I tore it down, I didnt find find anything worn out, just gummed up. I cleaned everything with brake cleaner, when i assembled it I used air tool oil. It works pretty good still. I think the kit was $40. Hope this helps.
Too bad I'm too young to be able to purchase a tool new, and still be using it in 40 years. And as a rookie truck driver, son of an owner operator, thanks for your work.
It can, but the numbers would all be quite low and there's the question of what the numbers would be compared to. I'm guessing not this 450ft-lbs impact wrench standard.
Idk if you've done this in a later episode, but it'd be interesting to see if you swapped some parts in-between both devices, would they perform the same?
I love your videos brother, I like that you are serious about these test and do you due diligence when testing and even the fittings and hose's you use. Plus I like the fact your putting these companies so called numbers to the test. Very informative when it comes to someone wanting to know which gun suits their needs in the garage. you definitely get a JAKE RATE: A+ (my overall content rating) lol
