I use ashwaganda more for the cortisol effect. Sex wise, not noticeable unless you take it regularly for a certain amount of time. If you’re looking more for a noticeable boost in sex drive, use tongat ali, boost your zinc intake, tribulus is pretty good too. Other factors that definitely affect my drive is sleep, food and exercise. Correct those things first for best results.

I think ashawanda is highly overhyped for it's cortisol effects, or just plain didn't work for me like at all, something that did calm everything down and actually felt it was something I tried out of nowhere was lemon balm

I take ashwaganda regularly and I love it. It really helps with stress and boosts libido. It also does lower emotions but mostly just negative ones. I also recommend taking Shilajit, wich feels like ashwaganda on steriods and if you combine these to, you will sleep like a baby, have a huge increase in terms of libido and be way more calm.

Emotional blunting!! That’s a perfect description for the fact that ashwagandha takes me from being an agitated, impatient driver that verbalizes my annoyances with others to an extremely relaxed, calm driver that doesn’t really care when or how I get to my destination. It definitely works as a mood changer. 1/2 of a 300mg capsule works fine for me. Though, 300mg can be mind numbing.

@@mondoahmd8088 I’ve never researched the side effects if there are any. It could be perfectly safe everyday. I just sprinkle half of a 300mg capsule in my blended coffghee once in awhile. I wouldn’t do anything everyday. Especially supplementation. Of course, people wouldn’t need to supplement if they weren’t eating anti-nutrients from plants that steal and block the absorption of key nutrients for healthy cellular function, energy production and brain function. It also doesn’t help that modern people are now eating sugar and carbs daily that cause their gut bugs to release drugs which creates addictions and withdrawal symptoms leading to various “mood swings” and temperaments. Ashwaghanda and other supplements to the rescue I guess.

You are wonderful Doc and maybe a psychic!!! I purchased 2100 mg ashwagandha over a month ago and haven't taken a single pill. I've purchased this to boost my testosterone levels and to relax dummy resting time. I've noticed that as I am aging (53) it harder and harder for me to workout and see positive results. I also work 12 - 14 hours per day 5 to 7 days a week. I'm a little nervous about trying this without consulting my Doctor, however I had lab work done where my testosterone levels are slightly lower than normal for my age group. I will be having my physical exam here real soon and I'll wait for her to say yeah or nay. This is a supplement unknown to and I don't want to be want to be foaming at the mouth and flopping on the ground if I don't need this. If my Doc says it's okay then I'll will give it a go and hope that my workouts and sleeping patterns improve. Something she mentioned about they're not being enough studies on how the human body does with extended periods of low-level cortisol. Cortisol is a stress hormone. You need it to motivate you to get things that you need for survivability. It wakes you up in the morning, it drives you harder to find food when scarce, it drives you to protect your spouse and progeny and dangerous situation. However, it breaks down into oxidants in the bloodstream wish that carried through your body and may cause illness and premature aging and high quantities so I would say that you wouldn't need to eliminate cortisol but just to mitigate excessive amounts of it. If ashwagandha reduces your stress to healthy levels, it's better likely than not that having lower levels of cortisol can have long-term health benefits. The only way to know for sure is to try. Obviously, it should go without saying, stop taking it if you are experiencing negative effects, such as the supposed sedation in those mice she mentioned that were given high amounts.

Doc. I have a very important question... I am taking L-citrulline every morning and I love it.... Also is helping me with minor ED problem...and helping me at the gym. But I heard that Niacin ( Vitamin B3 ) is very good to lower my bad cholesterol LDL and at the same time it helps by opening veins for better blood circulation. Can I take L-Citrulline in the morning and Niacin at night ? what do you think? I am very healthy .. according to my doctors last blood test at her office.. everything came out perfect.. except for my Bad cholesterol.

Hi, I have taken L-Citrulline and niacin without any issues. If you are having ED issues check out French maritime pinebark and take it with 3g of L-Citrulline

For lipid effects you would need to take 1000-2000mg of niacin per day from what I have read, and it needs to be the nicotinic acid (flushing) niacin.

----- 222--- I took ashwaganda for a long time, 3..4 days per week. I liked the effect on psychology and regulation of sex drive. However, and that's a big one: It caused inflammation of the liver, AST got as high as 40. When I took it off, all other things roughly the same, AST returned to 28 after 8 months. So, if you start taking it, observe your liver enzymes.

I may have misunderstood. At around 4:20 were you supposed to say the environment around the testicles has alot of antioxidants, which causes infertility? I thought that high oxidation levels were the cause and that free radical scavenging compounds such as antioxidants would improve fertility. Great video. Thanks Glen

Just a side note, I am certainly not anhedonic, my emotions are acute and I feel wonderful. It is worth noting that I do take St John’s wort as well so some of the effect can be from that. A few years ago I was on SSRI antidepressants and that made me completely anhedonic so ai can appreciate the huge difference.

Ok let's be honest, the best thing that actually works for a male that's not prescription is Yohimbine hcl, that stuff is amazing and boosts libido incredibly, only you have to be careful with the dose as people have had heart attacks on this stuff. The second which gives a slight increase in libido is Turkesterone, it also helps you to relax a little too, I've found there are no side effects with this supplement. I've tried pretty much everything else and it's all garbage, these are the only two that actually work.
