I also wanna add this ride is very safe generally due to the slow speed of the cars. This is one other reason it sticks around!
Today Rocky discusses one of his favorite go kart rides! That being Autopia in Disneyland Anaheim California. Autopia is a ride that has been there as long as I can remember, but that's because it's literally been there way longer than I could possibly remember considering I am a 24 year old man, it is 2024, and this ride was implemented by the opening day of the park in 1955. The ride allows kids and adults alike to drive a car, well before their sixteenth birthday for many of the kids that arrive in the park. The ride sets up a world of the future where cars are so safe, even children can get licenses. I too have one of those fake Autopia licenses, wish I could find it. The ride also used some of it's ride line, as well as elements throughout the track to provide a bit of a story and a history of transportation. This is an interesting idea, however it is quite a bit outdated when we consider how old the attraction is and how they use the same ol' style of carts for years. So, in this video I talk a bit about Autopia, what it is, the history, and why I feel it doesn't fit much in today's Tomorrowland at Disneyland resort.
