I wish dealers would rent 3 point hitch equipment. In my area there are none. It's difficult to justify the cost to the average homeowner to use it twice a year. There is a local Bobcat dealer that rents skid steers with some available attachments but not 3 point hitch equipment for tractors.

they work awesome from my personal experience, they are heavy, i'm talking concrete slap cracking asphalt breaking and side walk sinking in fall spring thaw heavy. (1"+heavily ice caked bottom and top) did 3 passes on one side walk one winter 2018? mid february where the day before 2 feet of snow dropped and the next day it hit 85ºF. sunk a 3 foot wide concrete sidewalk 2" into the ground removing hard pack iced snowbanks from city plows street pushing T junctions across the road type snow piles. it only stopped at 2" because that was all the frost that had melted by noon WITH a 6 foot tall half melted refrozen time and again snow bank on it and that was with just the tool cat and bobtach snowblower....and it ate up that entire ice chunked football rock or bigger snow bank better than my JD445 on my drive way same snow storm. loads of power stalled out 3 times pushing it to find it's limits as this was the first time i had used a toolcat vs the loader. loader never stalled out even pushing 12' snowbanks of half fresh snow and half old snow. only problem i had was losing traction trying th move a mountain dead center in 1-3 pushes. divide and conquer was the answer 1/3 at a time and it handled it pushing the entire bank back about a good 10-12 feet from the curb making room for new snowfall of equal amounts just incase. extremely impressed just like the full size JD front end loaders, power left over, traction was the issue every time taking on mountains of hard tough snow and clearing from curb to drainage ponds 20-50 yards in uncut swamp grass to the edge of the cat tails. would put these up against catapillars of same size and not sure which would do a better job or win in a contest. trust me i've run both, plus case and fords

glad to see another tractor guys point of view on all of this. some features of the older tractors i wish they had never removed such as the left and right braking and the single slide forward and reverse with neutral/stop lever. however i do much appreciate the foot forward and reverse levers as it frees up my hands for fine point critical control of attachments whereas my hands and arms had to be a blur of motion in prior years. a single pedal forward reverse rocker pedal would be much nicer, like the older deer back hoe tractors had for their throttle, but a neutral cross safety lock for the pedal would be required to prevent accidental run aways, it would just be nice not to have to apply force while under travel the entire time as i have to do it for multiple hours at a time. really hate all the safety switches that were implemented under that '96 congressional law. can't run a snow blower or tiller with out that reverse safety killing pto power. i have found ways around the worst offenders, but the forward reverse one is something i am still trying to figure out. tried it the way i did the others and for some reason (i believe reverse detection in another sensor some where changes polarity?) it won't work so i have lived with that nightmare since, plus position of that sensor is MM critical.

I know I'm late on this one, a year late. But the best attachment for this, or the one I think you'd love the most...an auger or earth drill. What did you hate about in on your compact tractor?...can't apply down pressure in hard ground. Shaft drive, not hydraulic, so very hard on the gears when you hit rocks. Speaking of rocks, can't reverse it when it gets stuck. Not enough lift capacity to pick it out the ground when it's tough going. All solved with a hydraulic auger on this machine.

Hey Tim, Cool video. That looks like a high capacity light materials bucket on the bobcat. Have you tried a smaller universal or dirt bucket with that loader? I think you would have better results in the digging, lifting, and breakout departments. I would use the bigger bucket for mulch, snow, and the like.

The bobcat strikes me as a great for a property maintenance company who needs snow removal equipment or for moving mulch and lighter yard work or construction sites. Heavy excavation not so much, but moving hay bales or animal feed around a farm seems like a great place for it.

I had a few small stumps on my front hillside that I cleaned off. House was built in 45 and I'm the first one that didn't like looking at the brush right in front of the house. Anyway, there were a couple of stumps that if I didn't watch would catch my mower deck and that was a pain. The only way off was to back up and there was too much of a hill and I couldn't back up. I got one of the wood grinder heads for my 4" grinder, hooked it up to my 1K Honda suitcase generator and got down there on my knees and ground them off. Took quite a bit longer but then again the tractor would not have been able to back up the hill either. It would have been drive down grind, drive around to get back up on top of the hill and then drive down to take another swipe.

10:00 it's not a mismatch, it's the fact every one has run the big 3' vermeer grinders and that is how they have become accustomed to viewing. this one is small and that's what's throwing you off. you have to treat it like a weed whip where you can't actually see to well what you are cutting as it's going into the head and your feed back is the result of what's coming out instead. the other major difference is with the larger grinders you can take 3-4" off at a time so results are easier to see as well and because it's able to take on so much more you don't have anything to finesse you can just bull thru dirt to dirt.

I think the perfect application for that wheel loader would be a school district or college. You could clear snow off the wide sidewalks, you could do mulch and landscaping, I imagine you could even mow assuming they have some sort of mower for it. Be great for loading salt into the spreaders in the bed of pickup trucks. Could a tractor do all this? Yes of course, but the articulation is what makes this the winner. Get into tighter spots without tearing up the grass or leaving the black marks on the concrete from tires sliding. I think that would be the application where it would really shine.

A couple of questions as well as a comment. On the bobcat, can you get it with the new r14 tires or the r4 tires? Maybe that would be a good compromise between getting into a pile of material effectively and still be gentle on the ground. Also, on the bobcat with the stump grinder, I was wondering if you could get a similar setup to what Ventrac has with their stump grinder as they have a mirror on top so you can see where you are grinding.

I bought a Baumalight P 24 and used it on my 2006 BX24D. It worked great but after about 10 small stumps ground I tore a gear out of the PTO drive. The cost to repair the tractor was more than the P24. My Kubota dealer said that my tractor might be a bit too light for the stump grinder. I think both the P24 and my Kubota tractor are great products. I sold the Stump grinder. The Kubota dealer also sold me the Baumalight P24.

@@TractorTimewithTim I bought the grinder in May of 2020 and the PTO shaft that came with the stump grinder had shear bolts instead of the PTO with a slip clutch. I had to actually order new shear bolts because the hardest bolts I could find were only an 8 hardness. The shear bolts were a 10.9 hardness and came from Baumalight in Canada. I think the PTO with the slip clutch may have prevented me losing the teeth in my PTO gearbox.

@@photocontrol I've now heard the 5' is no problem on a 24 HP machine. I did just get a 4' today though, so hopefully it's a wash far as overall area covered/time.

@@galehess6676 The 4' should do a good job for you.

Tim if you were to keep the stump grinder and loader I'd put a camera on the shield so I could see what I'm doing

Like the video and review, I am wondering how you would like the older great drive models like an 870 and such.

I have some experience with a 750 and 770. Rock solid machines! I’m just not a fan of gear drive on these little machines. They get used for a lot of loader work, mowing, and other PTO work. These tasks much more easily performed with a hydro transmission.

Maybe a camera on the Bobcat with a monitor in the cab would greatly help with the sightline issue?

That’s pretty impressive but I would hate to get into a rock with it lol

Two speed transmission for sure. I’m super interested in that bobcat for round bale moving without causing more mud. I also think it would be good at post holes and stall cleaning. I suspect it is out of my price range though. How well do you think it will handle moving around in soupy mud? Do you think it could get 4x5 bale 3 high? Around 800to1300lbs. I like to stack mine flat side down. Hard to get perspective on the video sometimes. Is there room inside the cab for a camera view screen? How are the hydraulics for it? Is there enough flow to power a bush hog or automated wood splitter? There’s no Bobcat dealer near me for me to see in person. Thanks for the video.

Gotta show the 855 on a legitimate size stump... or is that a part I missed? Maybe it only goes up to 6-8" because of how the PTO shakes the rear of the tractor.

No, it would have handled a ‘legitimate’ sized stump no problem.

What kind of wood? The big tree in the beginning looked like a Locust, as did the smaller stumps. What kind of tree was the large stump done with the Bobcat? It would have been interesting to see the first stump grinder finish the large stump for comparison. Have you ever reviewed the Bobcat "ToolCat" or ToyCat.?

A camera (or low tech mirror) on that skid steer stump grinder would solve the lack of visibility issue ....

I this one sold, or just going back to the dealer's inventory? You haven't done too much damage to it (lol) and It's got what I want on it, except for the rear weights.
