Tractor Time with Tim was in Germany were visited a John Deere Dealership that only sells compact tractors (up to 50 HP). Compact Tractors are a little different in Europe. Frank from KVN describes the similarities and differences for the 1026R, 2036R, 3045R and 4066R. European compact tractors have some features that you would want here in the US.

I have a European John Deere 6300 with a 640A loader. It has the open spee balls on the lift arms. One thing that I really like is the 540/1000 pto is changed by a lever in the console. So the 6 spline pto shaft is not changed to the 21 spline shaft. I have a tiller and changing the pto rpm is nice from time to time.

It’s very common to have tractors running down the roads in Europe where as in North America.... not so much ... but I do love the Front hitch system ... another European bonus .... it’s amazing how companies make machines for different markets and they have all kinds of reasons they don’t bring certain features/systems into North America ... I think laws and lawyers have a lot to do with it.
@ERICMB24MF37U24F39
@ERICMB24MF37U24F39 4 года назад
Its much smaller distance in Europe so it's faster to drive on the road than to load it on a trailer... even the big tractors are almost always equip with a front 3-point hitch..

So informative and interesting. Great job! Inspires so many questions.. 1) Why all the focus on road driving over there? Is it because they’re marketed mostly for municipalities? 2) Is the rear 3-point ball set-up superior to what we have in the US? If so, why don’t we use the same set-up? 3) If the radial tires are the best balance of traction without turf tear up, any idea why the US doesn’t use them? 4) What are the advantages and disadvantages of the front mount 3-point vs. quick hitch? 5) Finally, if you could create your perfect hybrid tractor of US features and German features, what would you go with?
@TractorTimewithTim
@TractorTimewithTim 5 лет назад
1) yes 2) yes, dunno why we don’t have them. Oliver did as early as 1960 or so...until the late 70’s 3) the Radials are offered on the large frame 2r in USA 4) answered by Frank in video l think pretty well. 5). I’ll leave that to the viewer

When I was 11 years old in the late summer of 1978 my parents and I went on a Europe farm tour in which we saw castles, churches, farms and took a one day trip down the Rhine River. One of our stops was a John Deere factory tour as they were working building tractors. I remember they had square cabs for tractors going to one country which mandated an escape hatch out of the top. At one point one assembly line guy whistles to me to come over and I didn’t understand a thing he said but he grabbed a handful of hot oily wet ball bearings and put them in my hands. I didn’t know what to do and put them in my front pocket and the hot oil went through the pocket liner and onto my skin burning my leg skin. Of course my mom was upset that my pants were stained. I think my leg healed up within a few days. Our tour was Britain, Holland, France, Germany, Switzerland, Lichtenstein and Austria. I was the only person in the group under 25 years old and several people in the group would come up to hug me because they missed their children or grandchildren. A few people came to visit our dairy farm north of Grand Meadow Minnesota after the trip.

Does John Deere offer partial financing if I wanted to buy a new 1023 with deck and snowblower? I have older Toro garden tractors and a Dixie Chopper ZTR. If I sold everything I could probably come up with $6,000 to $8,000 or more. I’m getting older and I live with chronic Lyme disease and having something new would make my life easier.

i guess mostly due to regulations. i personally think there are better designs than the US hitch pin for example. however onelonleyfarmer just recently converted his UK imported deer from the UK style hitch back to hitch pin because that's apparently the only DOT approved hitch system. and nobody wants to get into trouble with the law when your hitch might eventually fail one day.

@OLIVER_1969
@OLIVER_1969 5 лет назад
I was planning on using my 59" snow blower attachment for the snow ,the 66" blade is for dirt ,tilling and leveling trails, buck patches and maybe using the tractor for pulling a hay wagon or hay rake . But when I have the brush hog on the back I would like more weight for turning and pulling up hill with out a big blade on the front . Do you think that heavy hitch weight bar for the back would fit up front ? I could weld extra brackets to change it from a class-1 to a class-0 I guess. I think I will use it to much to take the 3 point off.
@TractorTimewithTim
@TractorTimewithTim 5 лет назад
@@OLIVER_1969 I think there are some interesting possibilities there. There is a category 0 heavy hitch. ...but I'm not sure it actually accepts weights.
