Did you like weapons that explode in Breath of the Wild? I hope so, cause Tears of the Kingdom has the same thing. But the new mechanic, FUSE, might just be able to fix that for you if you didn't.

The durability facet of the game has a tremendous gravitational effect on how the game plays. It caused me in BoTW to avoid fights and avoid exploring because I didn't want to lose gear. It made the game not feel like Zelda.

man I just want one unbreakable weapon. It doesn't even have to be good. It's cool when you play the game linear, beating enemies to upgrade and throw all your possessions at the bosses. But it does get old when you're just trying to enjoy the open world. The weapon mechanic adds a lot to the game but god damn, why am I even making a strong weapon when it can't kill one bokoblin brigade regardless of the damage value?

I really love the the special effects almost every weapon has. The Royal weapons having flury rush makes the spears more powerful (especially with Gleeko parts) and the Garudo set having low durability but making the best damage dealing set for mounting Lynels. It's fun and much less worrisome than losing you Lynel Crusher by accident in BotW
@Dominik356
@Dominik356 Год назад
Geeok horns are just generally pretty good. For Lynels you want a 1 durability royal guard weapon, which does 4x damage (compared to gerudo's 2x on material).

The thing i disliked the most about weapons breaking was that there was mo spear or longsword equivalent to the master sword no eay to use my preferred weapon style reliability that to me was the worst part i wish the champion weapona all had similar recharge to the master sword that would fix a lot of issues for me

I completely agree with everything you said cuz if I find a travellers sword I fuse it to a silver lynel horn and bam it’s my new strongest weapon yet weapon durability gives a different variety of weapons reason cuz instead of saying “ I will just beat up everything with my silver lynel reaper “ you say “ hmm I am gonna use this soldier construct reaper on this boko and save my royal guards claymore for the lynel up ahead “

When you destroy a attached item and fuse a new meterial it does give back a little of the base weapons durability so you can continue to use the weapon a little longer also the Octorocks on death mountain can be repair weapons that are near breaking and even enhance a weapon but the enhancement is random you can save the game beforehand to get the enhancement buff you want there is also a goron at Terry town that can separate weapons from fused items if you find a better base weapon you can reuse the meterial

Zora weapon's effect is active while Link is wet. Nothing to do with proximity to water. Fuse cannot fix durability for TOTK. Fusing adds a fixed amount of durability, which is solely defined by the weapon, not the material. A stick with an apple has the same durability as a stick with a diamond. And since unfused weapons are not a sensible option in any case, if TOTK had a better system, then this would mean that higher durability had fixed the issue. In my opinion the durability system is fine for early and mid game. But in the late game it starts to suck. Silver enemies take more hits, even with silver weapons. Which is good, I like to fight them. But durability does not scale, so you need switch weapons too often. Also since breaking ore, rocks, and other environmental objects costs durability you need to constantly juggle weapons for that, too. I would have preferred if materials on the master-sword sticked after regeneration and that the champion gear worked the same. And attacking objects would cost no, or very little durability.

Maybe “proximity to water” was not the best way to phrase that, true. An interesting point is that there is one specific instance the game takes no durability for an attack, any hit that only activates a Zonai contraption doesn’t use any durability (this extents to stuff like switches in shrines). Despite what this video might make you think, I actually believe this is a good thing, as what weapon you hit a switch with is not an interesting decision. Compare that to the other stuff you mentioned, they all require specific weapon types which as you said, you need to juggle. What determines if you enjoy this, then, is whether or not you find that juggle enjoyable (I do, others like yourself don’t) and whether Fuse is enough to make you enjoy that juggle. It helps, but it wasn’t going to be enough for some.

Durability almost ruined this game for my family and I. Growing up, my family has had a tradition of playing each and every Zelda game together like how some families watch movies. The open ended nature of this game is great for this style of play, multiple minds, multiple eyes. Makes it a great experience of the family shouting at the screen like its a sports game. A lot of us have intense jobs now so we do not have time to watch someone farm sticks and rocks or 1000s of restless crickets from hyrule fields. I rolled back the switch, put it into airplane mode so the game wouldn't update, and then I did that glitch that let's you get that indestructible master sword from the beginning of the game. It can't be fused without another glitch and is locked at 30 attack power but I do not care. Having a wood, ore, and garbage mob chopper has been essential to our enjoyment of the game. While I can see why you and other people might like this system, and I did liked the video, in my heart of hearts, I couldn't disagree more, respectfully. Now I can use my other weapon slots for rock boomerangs, tools, and much stronger crafted weapons. So while we are still immersed in the system, we aren't wasting our adult lives. scrambling around for sticks and rocks because we had to warf our gear on bosses and now don't have enough rock hammers to get through this tunnel of rock walls. Having all of the weapons become brittle because of an event is the most empty handed story telling gesture I have ever seen. It just didn't feel very good logic wise, so having an indestructible sword, albeit a bad one for the second half of the game, took all of the uneeded stress out of the game, let us all get immersed in the action/exploration, and let us just.......have fun. :)

This whole problem could have just been solved by making enemies drop an item that can repair durability. So you can actually farm it and build up a stockpile.
@VersionGamma
@VersionGamma Год назад
I'll give you that rock walls are probably where the system is doesn't quite work as well. The fact that they have to fill them with Rusty Claymores (and often not enough of them) in order to make sure you can fully tunnel through them does feel like a compromise in a way I don’t like, but at the very least, using Bomb Flowers and *spoilers* Yunobo’s Sage ability can help quite a bit with that. Glad you liked the video even if you didn’t agree with it’s thesis, always good to hear differing opinions

It certainly makes combat a lot more interesting because it allows for a lot of experimentation. Plus, it's very easy to use fuse to make efficient weapons with monster parts.

You know whats stupid, The mastersword's power is supposed to be even stronger than it was in breath of the wild repaired by the light, and it still fucking breaks over time, Absolutely stupid, the master sword never broke in any other game but these two games, which is just absolutely rediculous. that is the one weapon that should never have any durability or breakage whatsoever AT all.

Basically every weapon in the game is a deku stick.
@le1323

I agree. There should be at least some way to get a god damn weapon that doesn't just break after two silver enemies. Even if it was only after defeating the final boss, I would be happy. Just to be able to explore the world without having to constantly worry about getting new weapons, would be so great. Yet they made the system even worse in this game, since you can't even find good base weapons in the overworld anymore. They could have at the very least made it, so that the parts you fuse to your master sword don't disappear when it breaks after like 15 hits. In BotW it was underwhelming, now there's literally more value in not getting it.

what i did was i stole the mastersword from the beginning (nomsg) mastersword and did a glitch where i dropped a gleeok part and then got ready to fuse the nomsg to the gleeok part, then pressed start, dropped the nomsg, then equipped a different sword and quickly really fast i pressed B and then Y to quickly fuse that weapon to the part, in which case (doesn't actually even fuse together) instead it fuses to the nomsg (unbreakable mastersword btw) and when you equip that mastersword it now has that part on it but it only appears when you swing it. but in reality, you now have a unbreakable fused weapon although its locked at a specific power which sucks, and what i think is that you should be able to find one of the undecayed versions of the royal great sword (no black damascus on the blade) and then fuse it to something to make it unbreakable, because you would think that it makes since they other weapons break due to them being decayed but wouldnt you think that the undecayed version wouldnt BREAK???? like helloo????
