I seem to be unable to post a reply with a weblink. Its a good thing that you asked for a source because it is really hard to find one. Usually, the only things that the media cover are the controversial aspects of this project (land acquisition, politics, etc.). I swear that I had seen a few newspapers who have coverd this aspect. Also, during such large projects, ToT is a natural thing that happens. Its how almost every country having HSR (barring France and Japan) got that technology in the first place. When Delhi metro was being built in 2000s, the same arguments were being made against it. People said it was too expensive for a country like India. Idiotic alternatives like local trains and EMUs were discussed. Today life without metro is unimaginable in Delhi. Metro is now coming up in many more cities in India. The first train like any other infra investment is going to be expensive but with economies of scale it will become much more cheaper. Such investments need to be planned years ahead not when the infrastructure is already creaking. Kudos to the government for planning this!

You have failed to take into consideration one major impact. Bullet trains the world over have taken away business from airlines. Consider this, aircraft uses kerosene as fuel, and flies very high up in the atmosphere, spreading high levels of pollution. Whereas a bullet train runs compulsoryly on electricity, and carries three times the no of passengers than an aircraft at any given time.a bullet train can stop and start in a matter of a minute, whereas an aircraft will take considerably more time to land, taxi into the airport, offload passengers, take on new passengers and take off again. So a bullet train is a better bet than airlines provided there is wide coverage in the whole country. The vande Bharat trains are a step in the right direction.

Remember one thing While constructing a building you must first make sure that the base of the building is made strong and firm if the base is weak no matter how luxurious and how many storeys you make it will fall one day. Indian government should first fix the existing issues with the Indian Railways, do not take feedback from Indians rather than from the foreigners who travel they can provide a better feedback of what is required and what not. Straight away making a bullet train in a slum country can only contribute to more losses and instability in the Indian railways, we already saw how trains were burnt in Bihar, lol just imagine if a bullet train was burnt. So focus on what is needed not on what is required.

Appreciate your in-depth analysis. However, travel by bullet train will actually take the same time or even a bit less than flying. Agreed, the flying time between the two cities is 1h 15m, but you have to factor in the extra 2 hours before the flight for check-in and half an hour after the flight for baggage claim too. That makes flying a 4-hour affair, whereas you can simply go through a security gate and board the bullet train, and similarly exit the station at the destination. In addition, bullet train stations are in the middle of the city, well connected by public transport systems, whereas airports are usually far away from the city and it takes a lot of money to travel to and from the airport. Flights serve only the 2 big cities at the end, whereas bullet train shall serve the entire corridor with the same speed and convenience. All these aspects decisively tilt the scales in favour of the bullet train.

India has to keep up with the status quo. When a nation develops, the international as well as domestic impression of the person/goods transport has to be positive to incentivise investment. This comes with projects like bullet trains, freight corridors, etc. Hence bullet train is a justified baby step towards that direction.

Hyderabad GDP - 86 billion USD. Puna GDP - 70 billion USD. Ahmedabad - 64 billion USD(including gandhinagar. Surat - 55 billion USD. *"Hear is net software and IT comparison"* www.dqindia.com/india-s-top-tech-cities/ 1).Banglore 2). Hyderabad 3). Chennai 4). Gurgaon, Delhi NCR region. 5). Mumbai puna Combined. 6). Kochi.... Do your math. Modi and his followers only focused on Gujarat soo much they are blind to see other states. Even after becoming PM of india Modi is biased with other states he aproved project in Gujarat and not in southern and other parts of india. 1. Apart from just the initial cost, there is also maintenance and running expenses. 2. Bullet Train is now almost obsolete technology. Japan themselves are moving towards Maglev and other futuristic technologies. We will be stuck with this for another 50+ yrs when we should be skipping this generation and going directly to Maglev/Hyperloop. 3. Ridership volumes won't be sustainable. 4. 0.1% interest rate may seem minuscule now but over 50 yrs, with a compounding effect, it will become a sizeable number. 5. European circumstances are very different and can't be replicated blindly in India. Average Joe won't take the bullet train to commute to Mumbai daily. 6. Comparisons with other subsidies etc doesn't make any sense. Subsidies are an essential part of running a nation. Even in the most developed nations, the government provides subsidies in one form or the other. 7. Even in Japan itself, the average worker doesn't commute by bullet train cos ticket cost is prohibitive. Only businesses travellers do it. 8. 1 lac crores project may not be a big amount as per your analysis. This may be true if the project is catering to a large population. But just for the benefit of a fraction of the population, its not efficient use of our resources. 9. We are being sold old train sets - E5 Shinkansen (2011). Japan themselves use more advanced versions on their network. We all want the latest technology to come to India but it should be practical and cost-effective as well and not just vanity projects.

Ni seekh sakte. Unki or humari mentality me bht farq h. Wahan k leaders Desh k liye kaam krte hain. Lekin humare leaders kursi k liye.

@@quadris2565 Are bhai pehle details la bolne se pehle. Vaha single party system chalta hai koi freely elections nhi ladh sakta. Ek hi party ke various candidates ladhte hai elections to unhe itna prachar karne ki kya jarurat? Aur dusri baat vaha democracy nhi hai bill ese hi pass kar diye jate hai apne yaha jese nhi bill ke baare main pata nhi par virodh pehle aa jata hai aur process slow ho jati hai. Abhi bullet train ke construction main bhi Maharashtra government kitna bich bich main kaam slow down karva rhi hai
