I am from Odisha. Before independence Mahanadi river was the best transport mode between East Odisha and West Odisha. If that can be restored then a सस्ता mode of transport will be in action. You have done a tramandous research thanks for that . Keep it up.
Waterways is cheaper than railways only when you consider the railway to be a diesel operated transport. Electrified railways is still cheaper than oil run water transport. If the water transports is electrified to and if solar is also used with it, like we have seen in Kochi or in many other countries, it would be the cheapest mode of transport.
It will not became chep because in producing electricity you should invest more money and it requires other investments too At other hand waterways are imp to divert all the goods from roads to water and the equipment It decreases trafic and passenger train got vacant route to increase its efficiency So everything is imp for high load waterways is must for fastest train is best For deep into society road are best
No bro even electric trains are not cheaper than freight transport and there is a reason 99.9% of freight still uses fossil fuel using electric ship u can only carry few hundred containers also the distance they can travel is very small too but morden freight carry over 10,000 of these containers over tens of thousands of kilometres this is way more practical for long distance transportation

पहली बार इस योजना का महत्व मालूम पड़ा। वाकई सड़कें बनाने में बहुत ज्यादा जमीन की जरुरत होती है जो अब तेजी से कम होती जा रही है इसकारण जल परिवहन को बढ़ाना हमारे देश के लिये बहुत जरुरी हो गया है। इसे अब टाला नहीं जा सकता। मेरा सुझाव यह होगा की जैसे यह अभियान एक विशिष्ट इंजिनियरिंग और पर्यावरणके संवेदनशील मुद्दों से जुड़ा है तो इसके लिये अभी से कॉलेजेस में एक विशेषज्ञ स्तर का कोर्स चालू किया जाए ताकी इस योजना का क्रियानवयन सही तरीके से और तेजी से हो सके।

I am not an engineer or anything close,I am from a tiny island in the Caribbean, don't comprehend the scale and magnitude of India,,I find that waterways plan needs to be reviewed, the ancient Indus plan was better, I am thinking one canal from North to south in the middle, small canals feeding it with proper roads leading to the main canal after all it's more for bulk stuff,your plan will take a lifetime to implement. However, I feel that one of his dream projects remains incomplete. Subsequent governments haven't done enough to further these efforts. They should focus on expanding another of Modi's visionary projects: deepening rivers and creating small reservoirs within them to store water during the summer.
