This could be risky, I wouldn't try it and risk the 77€ they charge at ryanair. I hear rumors that they get bonuses at the end of the month for catching oversize and overweight bags at the gate. Though I've taken 4 low cost flights with both ryanair and easy jet already and 0 of them had staff that asked to check my bag size and weight. My tip to avoid a test if you're going to do it anyways: always show up to the line 5 minutes before the gate closes. Usually once this time frame has been reached, they just wave everyone in. This is because the airline pays fines to the airport if the plane doesn't make it to the runway as sceduled. 😏

So... if it fits, you can keep it, right? I bought a backpack for travelling (AeR Travel Back 2 small for reference) which is more or less this size, and I'm scared that they won't allow me.

So much depends upon the airline staff. I’ve seen a couple of videos where bags that needed to be squished into the sizer were disallowed. They said only ones that slid in easily were acceptable. In one video, the bag fit easily with plenty of room left over but the strap got hung up on one end and it was disqualified.

@@Miau9852 funny you should ask. That video came across my feed again just yesterday. It’s a short. Hopefully I can find it again. I don’t know how to post a link on RU-vid. Whenever I’ve tried before, the comment doesn’t go through. But I’ll see if I can find a title for you to search.

@@Miau9852 it’s from @Gaz [underscore] minis called Bag which easy jet declined as carry on It’s actually one end of the bag that gets hung up and not a strap like I’d thought. Height wise the bag fell much short of the sizer. Length wise it needed just a slight push to go in. The airline agent was just being a stickler.
