Dude, I'm a straight guy, and I love Lana. But I started with the damn Born To Die Paradise Edition album. What got me hooked initially was her sarcasm, like in National Anthem. Dark Paradise and Summertime Sadness have such upbeat melodies, with lyrics heading in the opposite direction. The effect is really something.
Couple years ago I was on vacation for my 25th birthday with my bf, we were in Italy. We went out for lunch and had a couple glasses of wine in the sun, he said he had to run and get me a couple things and to meet him back at the hotel at a certain time. My birthday is in August and it was 36c/96f in Bologna on that day. There was something so magical about walking back to our hotel alone in the sunshine, in a new city, wine tipsy from day drinking and listening to this album. Genuinely don’t think I’ll ever forget that moment.
The fact y’all slept on “The Blackest Day” when the entire album is leading up to that song. That’s the climax of the album because that is the when the “Honeymoon” comes to an end.
Thank you for letting me know that.. I hate anyone who doesn't like the blackest day. That song is one of the best in this album.. Thank you for saving me time cause I am not watching the rest of this reaction.
the guy in the right gets it, not wrong about religion, almost everything that lana writes has double meaning, the geniosity about honeymoon is that the album itself has a interpretation and tells a story, but each song has its own meaning too
i never understood how people get the second meaning behind it. i get the white mustang one (“ur why im staying”) but why is she saying “soft i scream”? It doesnt align with the previous lyrics pls explain 😭😭
@@sandywich.”the day i said yo why am i staying” is always how i interpreted that play on words especially when she talks about “you’re gonna hit me like lightning” towards the end. and when she was saying how (whoever the song is about) she was a fool for believing they could change but they didn’t. so “yo why am i staying” makes a lot of sense with those contexts
Don't let me be misunderstood is a cover. original is Nina Simone. Lana typically includes a jazzy cover. on ultra violence 'the other woman' was another cover by Nina Simone.
God Knows I Tried is definitely one of my most favourite songs ever from her. The first time I heard it I was in genuine awe and borderline tears. It’s insane!!!
@jksnovia and yet I hang on her every syllable. Is it just that people who aren't already music encyclopedias aren't used to whole albums and songs bleeding into each other? It's not notable...m
@@indiatasticdefinitely agree. Every time I watch a reaction video to honeymoon and someone mentions it I’m just like okk? The songs barely bleed into each other so I don’t get it either lol.
You guys skipped paradise EP btw 🥲If you guys are going to go through her whole discography, you should def give that one a listen also (listen with bonus track burning desire)
I love your Lana reactions so much♥️. This is the album I play on the beach in the summer, especially in the late afternoon when sun turns golden. It feels luxurious. I can’t wait for Lust For Life. You guys are funny af
The Blackest Day is a very personal song. Not everyone can relate to the sentiment of the song: the depressing moments after a break-up, the feeling of persistently holding on to the relationship and all the efforts to not giving up on someone that easily. Also, not many noticed that this song is artistically crafted as a whole ass 5 stages of grief. Both lyrically and melodically represent those 5 stages. You can tell by the dynamic of this song especially from the bridge part to the “i’m on my own again” in the outro as a final stage: Acceptance. Lana is a genius.
Lust for Life is her most "mainstream" album. I wouldn't say it's disliked by any means, but her core fans usually prefer her less mainstream work. She's never had a bad album honestly. Cherry on Lust for Life is 🔥
Freak and terrance loves you were my two favorite songs from honeymoon in the first listen. but the album grows in a strange way. Lust for life can be one of your favorites albums.
About six years ago, I was curious and started listening to some of Del Rey's music. Her voice is so soothing to me and gets me in a trance state. It was this album and Lust for Life that were on playing rotation for me. But after that, I never listened to the rest of her albums. I need to get caught up. Im a fan of hers, definitely.
LOVE THE REACTION!! Been watching y’all’s videos all day and I’ve never jammed so hard. One album y’all NEED to react to is Collide with the Sky by Pierce the veil they’re my favorite band ever. Looking forward to it…
Honestly i think her lyricism on her 4 first albums were quite okay i mean its gorgeous some parts and it can be considered as poetry but her most recent albums from norman rockwell to her most recent did you know that theres a tunnel are the most interesting lyric wise, thats when her songwriting took a turn.
As much as I love watching initial reactions, I would also love to know how your thoughts maybe change on some songs. Like, The Blackest Day didn't stand out to me at first, but it has become one of my absolute favourite LDR songs. It's hauntingly beautiful and maybe hits harder isolated rather than in the context of the album.
In Salvatore, soft icecream doesn't have a meaning, but it's an experience you have in the steps of the situation. Living in the luxury of the experiences and views of Italy. Cacciatore, limousines, ciao amore (bye bitch), soft ice cream (like a nice thing to enjoy after cutting off a shitty lover). Dont Let Me Be Misunderstood is a cover of Nina Simone. This album is fucking luxurious
Honeymoon is so missunderstud and have just a right time to listen to it, and i assume that listening the album alone is just another experience. Can't wait for Lust for Life and NFR
38:42 freak dun made our 3rd boy to be right shirt come up 😂😂 I know they all felt that! Them trap beats, bass hits and background vocals will strip ya down!!! lol
yall are so rude, this reaction was great i love when people listen to lana! instead of hating on them be happy lana is reaching so many minds and souls 🩷
Ay Chicos sus reacciones son las mejores. Honeymoon es un album muy sofisticado y elegante. Si hubieran acompañado los video clips, le hubieran dado más cuerpo a sus criticas. Saludos.
Okay y'all are so cool for thinking honeymoon is good ❤ also idk if u might be interested but can y'all react to folklore by taylor swift its her best album and shes heavily inspired by lana and its one of the best albums made this decade
