Edgeworth: admits in a court of law that he's been having the same trauma nightmare about murdering his own father every night for the past 15 years Also Edgeworth: I don't need therapy
It's not just memory trouble either... Therapy might help make steps in resolving, or at least improving, his phobia of earthquakes that once occurs, is so debilitating to the point that it both physically and mentally disables him from being able to work efficiently, calmly, and with logical reasoning; all of which are integral parts of his character. Not only does his phobia further the damage on his mind by reliving his nightmares, but also damages his work ethic since he is suddenly forced into panic mode, making it so that his career is on the line whenever he suffers an impromptu spell. Also, the phobia messes with his sense of self worth. He practically broke down in front of Wright after one particular earthquake, though he tried to hide his vulnerability; which in itself is also taxing on his psyche. Even Edgeworth cannot refute this evidence, because if he did, then he would be denying the truth that he so passionately and consistently claims that he strives for. Ironic how he can't do the time... He shouldn't have done the crime! (Of not taking care of his mental health)
2:40 It's called C-PSTD or Complex-Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, babes. It's a specific subset of PTSD that describes trauma that occurs either during a particular period of time repeatedly (generally on and off), or trauma that (may have) happened a while ago _continuously_ for a long period of time, in which case I reckon Miles has both variants, as some things were constant (emotional manipulation and abuse), while others were staggered but repeated (his father's murder and the subsequent case/s that came of it). To my understanding, the main point of therapy is to help evaluate the underlying issues and find ways to manage the fallout from them with a trained psychologist. For someone who's deeply introspective and can accurately identify where the issues come from, therapy may not be the best option in that regard. But talking to somebody that can help you find coping mechanisms and accommodations for these struggles is still better than nothing. You can only think of so many solutions yourself, and having another person (therapist or not) with a different perspective tends to be highly beneficial. Although given that both Miles and Franziska opted to deny the fact that his trauma affects him in any way and refuted any suggestions otherwise, I suspect neither of them are terribly introspective, so therapy it is lmao
This is funny and super sad at the same time. And yeah Edgeworth needs therapy as well as Franziska, Phoenix, probably Pearl and many others. The only ones who doesn't need it are the dead.
okay, holy crap, 3.4k views and counting???? from just one video????????????? thanks so much guys i didnt think this would blow up 😭 i never realized that miles needed therapy hasnt been done before so this is like huge omg i have no idea what to do now but thanks so much from the bottom of my heart
As someone who is still a minor and who did not have the best home life as a kid even though that wasn't too long ago I already get several gaps in my memory of things that happened and it hurts because I have these responses to certain things like yelling loud noises sounds of hitting are plates shattering and I can't remember what Memories cause these responses it's just what it is and I don't have the closure of knowing what truly happened to me because I bottled up my trauma when I was younger because my father told me that family business stays inside the family and "You wouldn't want Dad to get in trouble with you?" "Therapy is for crazy people" Meanwhile I have prevented my OLDER sister from Americaing herself at the age of 11
