I'm picking my 135 up in August. I'm guessing that there is no way that the chip set up can't be installed without the car ending up flagged by bmw? I'm coming from a 140, so the extra power would be useful, but I don't want to balls up the warranty.

This is what Racechip technical said: we never heard of such an case so far. the proof is very difficult - respectively impossible. A readout of the ECU memory can at most provide an indication of a former tuning but no final proof. Furthermore, such data are red and interpreted only very rarely. As soon as the RaceChip is removed the car is immediately back in stock condition.

Looking forward to seeing 0-60 and 1/4 times would be good to see it with it set to 0 and then set to race mode to compare the stage 1 and Stage 1 + the XLR

Did you run this by insurance, if so was it much difference?

Hi Lee. if you change anything on your Vehicle you have to Declare it. even Cosmetics to my understanding. every insurance is different so best speak to yours.

What about the bmw dealer warranty? I heard they even know if you had tune from a box like this.

I saw your post on FB m135i group and you've disabled the ability to comment on that post, im sure its a mistake and not to avoid any public scrutiny. Can i ask do race chips in anyway affect the manufacturers warranty as ive asked this question a number of times and have yet to recieve a reply from anyone on the subject.

My take is strictly speaking no, but the car records all kind of performance stats, and BMW diagnostics can pick up when the car is operating above the stock parameters, ie, increases in boost etc that would not be achieved by an unmodded car. This could potentially flag the car. I've heard the recorded performance stats only last a week, so running on stock for a week or so should clear the numbers, but i'm not entirely convinced by that one. Input from a BMW tech would be useful.
