I installed a Race Chip XLR pedal tuner in my wife's Porsche Macan S. In my case, removal of the 30mm triple square bolt holding the pedal was required to access the connector. Installation was easy, and took only 10 minutes from start to finish. Installation of the XLR caused no error lights on the dash, and the XLR notably improved throttle response, eliminating the momentary flat spot or lag between the pedal being depressed and the turbos spooling up, but the XLR would reset itself to ECO mode every time the key was turned on, and also spontaneously while driving, which is not ideal if you are in Race mode trying to smoke a Tesla off the line. I reached out to Race Chip customer service who told me the XLR I had was not functioning properly and instructed me to return the XLR to customer service in Germany, which I did. UPS tracking shows the defective XLR was received by Race Chip in Germany about a week ago, so I reached out to Race Chip customer service via email, but have not heard back from them. I was initially impressed with how responsive the customer service was, but now not so much, and with each day that passes without hearing from them, my desire to pursue a refund on the XLR and get a Pedal Commander increases. After the XLR started experiencing problems in my wife's Macan S, I decided to get a Pedal Commander for my Cayenne GTS. While I'm not crazy about the look of the Pedal Commander, with a large gold star in the center of the module that coordinates with nothing in my GTS, it works flawlessly to control the throttle and best of all, it holds the last setting and does not spontaneously change modes while driving. The Pedal Commander can be controlled by the mobile App and also manually by the buttons on the module. On the Pedal Commander, you can fine tune the mode to suit your preference. For example, in Sport mode, you can fine tune the throttle response by up to 4 fine tune settings up or 4 fine tune settings down. With the XLR, you do not have the option to fine tune. Also, the XLR did away with the manual controller that you see in many videos, and is now mobile App controlled only. So long as Race Chip is supporting the mobile App, I suppose the XLR will function, but if they someday stop supporting the App, it'd be nice have a manual controller for the XLR. My 2 cents.
Good video, I purchased one few years ago to use on my audi a6 3.0 tdi mainly to mitigate the turbo lag and I must say that it helped immensely. I mainly keep it in sport or sport + on daily drives, but it's nice to be able to kick into race mode when needed. In regards to the eco mode I agree that for daily drives it can be quite slow and sluggish but I do like to use it for example when taking my car in for a service or on snowy or icy roads it helps to reduce the power dramatically. Best purchase upgrade for my car so far.
Have this on both my E46 BMW . Even though there’s not many reviews out there I decided to purchase this item. It’s got a great response to the accelerator and it does make a. Great difference in different driving modes .
Hey man I have one broken headlight with a ballast on it and want to replace. I can only find another headlight that has no ballast. Will this work in my car? What do I do with the old ballast from the broken headlight?
