the best birth rate for a stable population is between 2 and 3 kids. to have an average birth rate between 2 and 3, some people need to have 2 kids or less, and some need to have 3 kids or more. get it?

Actually both if health improves one don't have to born many children because they are sure of their child's mortality ( i heard stories from old peoples how some people had over 10 child and only 1 or 2 of them lived) If people are educated they get this information they are more aware about family planning and health related issue ( i also hear that from uneducated people that having many child is bad but they were not aware at that time how they can control it)
@@CatoFlp -- they saddle you up with as much student loan debt that's stretched out for 20 years or more in repayments; thus, not being able to afford to have kids when your student loan monthly bill is high for decades. heck, a lot of people claim they can't afford to move out of their parents home due to student loans. I know I know, they agreed to those loans in their late teens but that's today's reality.

he's talking about the world's poorest countries, where child health is bad, infant mortality is high, and the birth rate is high - they have 5-7 babies. as a poor country develops and gets more healthy/wealthy, child health improves, people get better access to education, employment, healthcare, contraception, and they have less children - between 2 and 3 babies per woman.

That's a big lie. The world is overpopulated, there's a reason why farmers use fertilizers instead of manure and fruits are injected with faster growth solution via syringes, because the demand is much more than the supply. If the governments waited for all of it to happen naturally they won't be able to fulfill people's demands and they'd suffer a lot of losses and the governments won't do that even if it means harming the health of the public.

If people start growing their own food in their own farms, business scale farming will collapse and the need for fertiliser will decline. I would argue that debt has a greater impact than health. Correlation does not imply causation. Gates provides no reasoning as to WHY health would make a difference. I think this is the important question to ask.
Student loan debts has a positive correlation to folks wanting to have less children😌 No debt also has similar effect, as you realize you need to have good things for your family and yourself.😌

How do we know that people "choose" to have less children as become "healthier". What if this is due to infertility or unaffordability as they become "healthier"?
Um, poverty has never stopped people having kids before so I don't know what you mean by unaffordable. The poorest nations on earth have the highest birthrates, regardless of how affordable it is to raise a kid. Western nations have lower birthrates, but the fertility rates of the population aren't any different. People tend to want a balanced life split between their hobbies, their career and their family. They also tend to use contraception more and only have a child when they really want one. Giving poorer nations better access to healthcare, education etc. will not only increase prosperity in those nations, but it won't cause overpopulation (if it did, the western world's population would be spiralling out of control.)

he is actually correct, population growth of china already slowing down and will continue to slow significantly in the coming decades, also india will follow, same will be the case with indonesia and other densely populated countries. This is a well studied subject.
