There has been a lot of questions asking if the size of the screen matters. In this video we take a look at the Humminbird Helix G4N 12" MSI vs Humminbird Helix G3N 10" MSI. I use the Mega 360 while I'm held in place by Spot-Lock. This video is very useful in assisting with a decision on the size screen you choose to get along with some settings to take into consideration while using the unit. Thanks for this great video. This is terrific information to know. Im buying my first fiberglass boat a new nitro Z20 and this really helped me decide i need 12" screens.

I hear that's a nice boat! Lol, I'm sure you saw my intro. I have a Nitro Z20. The 12" screens make a big difference with Mega Live, 360 and side scan in my opinion. Thanks for supporting the channel. Be sure to subscribe and let me know how you like the boat. Will you be fishing tournaments?

Bigger is always better! It also depends on the room you have. I'm a Kayak guy, I do have a Pro Angler 12 360 so I have plenty of room as a yak is concerned. That being said I technically could fit a 12" unit but I don't think it would b very practical. I'm saving for 10" solix right now. If I have a real boat I'd definitely get a 12

Bigger is better for Mega 360. I have a solix 12. My reason for going with solix instead of helix was touch screen. I set mine 80ft out and zoom in 1 time. This gives me about 60ft out. I set my livescope to 70ft. This gives me a casting distance out. Thanks for your opinion. I love your channel.

Thanks for the tip and supporting the channel. I didn't think of setting on 80ft and zooming in. I like the touchscreen idea especially for marking waypoint at the console.

If you can afford it, get biggest you can. Had 2nd surgery yesterday, can not wait till heal and get on water. Best of luck to you

Good to hear from you! I was just thinking about you yesterday. Glad all is going well. That is definitely a true statement. Investing in equipment shouldn't put a strain on your pockets. In most cases this is an investment into our happiness/enjoyment not an investment that will give a cash return so we have to keep that in mind. Thanks for supporting the channel!

@@MoneyBass well said, investment in our happiness, so very true. I'm doing ok..maybe 1 more day in hospital than go home. Hopefully 2-3 weeks I'll be on the water. Use this time to get boat re-carpeted

A easier way to go to different screens on Humminbird is to hold the view button, right arrow on sonar and then go down to the view that you want to look at. This to me is easier than trying to remember which screen my saved buttons take me to. Might be something of interest for new users.

Great Video enjoyed the side-by-side comparison. How do get the waypoints to show up on the Helix. I was told by a Humminbird authorized shop the waypoints would only show up on Solix units using 360.

You need a gps puck connected with a heading sensor.

Munney....do you feel if a 15 helix for M360 would be better? I'm finna get m360 and decided on a 12...but feeling if I should go 15 instead. Or is it overkill

I don't think I've seen a 15" screen I have person who but it sounds huge lol. The saying is to buy the biggest you can afford. I'm not sure if it would be overkill. Try playing around with a display model to see if it makes a big difference from a 12 vs 15. Also, if you don't have live imaging I would consider it and put that in the budget. Hope that helps.

Would you just need the CHO models for the bow? All hooked to ethernet hub or switch. Console units hooked to transducer. Thanks for the info! Good job.

That sounds correct assuming the trolling motor has a built in transducer that connects to a bow unit. I would verify that with a sales Rep so your full set up is taken into consideration. Hope that helps.

I'll tell you something else I see that nobody mentions, and this pertains to both of them: I can clearly see FINGERPRINTS on both of them, naturally, from touching the screen...now: many will probably sneer and say, so what, but, remember, many times our sonars are facing full sun, and the glare off those fingerprints means you are going to have to have your spray bottle handy all the time to give the screen a quick clean and wipe.

Clean screens definitely help having a clearer image on the screen. I try but as long as I can get the info I need when fishing I don't focus on the water spots and noise on the screen as much.

Do you run 360 in forward range?

It is rare that I run it in forward mode. 99% of the time it is in full 360 mode.
