Does the 2024 Volkswagen ID.4 Update Fix all of the ID.4's issues???

@@ianvankirk8820 As a GTI owner, the lack of back lighting isn’t an issue as I always the steaming wheel input. I mean, yeah, it should have been backlit. But it also could just be deleted

Thanks for watching! I actually have a video coming out next week about the 2024 ID.4 pricing, but I’ll tell you now! VW announced that they are keeping the same pricing for the 24 as the 23 in Europe! I would suspect that it will be the same in the US, but not official yet. I will keep everyone posted as I find out about things! Definitely worth the wait I think! We will definitely be upgrading to the 24 so I can bring helpful content to everyone!

Thanks for mentioning that. Battery preconditioning was a big concern for me with the lack of backlit climate controls being a second. I was coming in to comment on that.

Tesla model 3 is way better

And you know this because you've owned both? I've owned a model y and id4(as well as 4 other EVs) and the tesla was by far the least satisfying to drive.

It would be nice! I know our ID.4 will over promise on the guessometer so that why I did t want to trust the number in the video. I hope you are right though!!!

My understanding is that 4.0 will only be on 2024s and up. The infotainment computer has been upgraded with better processing to handle the new software and have snappier graphics. It’s also my understanding that it will have at least battery preconditioning when heading to a charger. Not sure if it will have manual battery preconditioning.

That’s crazy! Most dealers have ID.4s on the lot ready to go marked under MSRP. Are you waiting on a specific color? I do not know what they’re going to do with existing reservations that have not been filled… I would hope they would honor your reservation… But I’m not sure. As far as I’m aware, after whatever date it was, they were no longer doing reservations.

My local dealer in the middle of my small town in WI has like 7 of them if you want them :)

You can set the speed to whatever you would like as far as I am aware.

It’s a 5 speed bump. Done by swiping up on the capacitive button versus pressing for 1 mile increment. It’s why I really love the multi functional capacitive buttons. It’s just the silly reviewers who don’t.

I could not agree more. I owned a model y, a Polestar 2 dual.motor, ioniq 5 AWD, genesis gv60, bolt and id4 and the tesla was a very bad driving experience due to complete lack of ergonomic consideration.

I highly doubt it… but you never know!

Yes lots of good changes! I think price is going to be challenging. I think a price increase will turn lots of potential buyers off. We shall see though!

@@theaverageev It has been fascinating to me watching EV sales. It seems like many first adopters have been willing to pay a lot for anything that's EV, esp here in Canada. People are still paying full MRSP, waiting years and paying the 8-9% lease rates. I really wonder how long this will last.

We rarely fast charge, so I don’t think that should be the end all be all when deciding on an EV. If you HAVE to rely on a charging network then I agree. Also, it is inevitable that Tesla will open to VW and the remaining manufacturers. It’s just a matter of when! The ID.4 drives so nice and is so well built. With the improved software, it should sell well. I agree that NACS would make it a no doubter… but I think many people can still get it and avoid the potential annoyance of a shotty CCS network until Tesla opens and the NEVI chargers start to go online.

I agree that it appears expensive, but there are several reasons why it isn’t as bad as it looks. Before I talk about that. It’s worth noting that manufacturers are losing money on every EV sold. The only exception is Tesla who relatively recently started making a profit on cars. Batteries are expensive and the only way to cut costs is by increasing production. Most manufacturers are far away from this reality due to ICEs stranglehold on the car market. Hopefully this changes sooner rather than later!!! Anyways! If you qualify for incentives you can severely reduce the cost of an EV. In Maryland with incentives the ID.4 starts at $34k for the big battery which is more than reasonable give the amount of safety and drivers features you get. Some manufacturers you have to go up in trim to get standard features on the ID.4. Additionally, the cost of ownership of EVs is much lower. Likely a significant monthly savings. Additionally, fueling (especially at home) is typically cheaper for most! Some states like California are not as fortunate in this area. I respect your perspective! And agree that at first sight the cost is high. Hopefully you qualify for some incentives that allow for EV adoption to speed up. If not! I hope that prices do come down a bit. Not sure how far out we are from that actually occurring!!!!

Let’s take a deep breath. This video was made prior to the IRS guidance, I’m pretty sure. I have made subsequent videos explaining the tax credit nuances in detail for 2024. The reality is the written law says you need to have the liability. Which would imply you would owe the money back if you don’t have enough liability. The IRS came out with guidance that contradicts the law, however they are the ones who enforce it, so they are choosing not to enforce the law as written. So based on the guidance, yes you could get the credit without having the proper liability. They likely thought it was too hard to manage everything. I do not trust the government and would not recommend anyone without the proper liability to use the credit. Who knows if they will change the guidance at some point. But like you said people can do it, best to take advantage of it before the rules change or even the results of the election.

It is my understanding that previous ID models will stay on software 3.1 and receive updates on software 3. I'm not sure if they will change their mind but that is what I have heard from interviews with the CEO and other EV journalists who have spoken to VW reps. I would imagine the infotainment hardware is update with better processors and memory to allow for the snappier response. I'm not sure if VW has the ecosystem and parts to retrofit 21-23 ID.4s. If they ever announce it, I will let you all know!

@@JimSpence I think the big problem was we ordered the Arctic Blue or The Pro S Pluses. They are making very few of the Pluses due to supply constraints. I also heard they had a problem with the white interior and are mailing very few of those. Unfortunately that was my order so I pretty much got delayed indefinitely haha

It is possible and maybe even likely! But would definitely be a mistake since dealers are already marking 23s off (I’ve seen up to $4,500). I know there is more to pricing than my feelings, but if they raise the price any more there is no reason to get one aside from the fact that you don’t want a Tesla. We shall see!

Yes, it appears they did not fix the window switches. If I’m being honest, I never open the windows so it’s not an issue I ever deal with. But for people that like to open the windows it is annoying!!!

@@NO_OPEC_NO_PROBLEM All of the sources I have read and watched. Stemming all the way back to Oliver Blume taking over as CEO have stated that old IDs will continue to receive support for ID Software 3. So that is why I am confident. Could they change their mind? Sure! Will they? Probably not. I don’t know the specifics of the computer within the infotainment for the new IDs. But one would assume they upgraded that hardware with better processing speed which is why the software is snappier. Hope this helps! I can only report on what I actually hear, and so far that is 21-23 stay on 3, 24 and beyond get 4.

This is not even true? The ID.4 Pro is very competitive in efficiency for its class 107 MPGe for the 23. 24 is rated at 113 MPGe.
