If we go "overboard in loving the sinner", how about we get rid of the disgusting "intrinsically disordered" label we slap on them, as Cardinal McElroy and others have suggested. Pretty difficult to "feel loved" when those "loving" you are describing your love as... intrinsically disordered.

It is difficult, I have a "gay" granddaughter, I don't think how she lives her life is "intrinsically disordered" . It is not the way I choose to live but I don't believe she thinks I live in a strange way because when her Grandma died I remarried. Some in and out of the church, thankfully no one I know, do however.. We need not only to live and let live but love and let love. Judge not and leave that to God.

All I can say is … you’ve got to be kidding me … Right? As a gay man, there is no place for me in the Catholic Church. I didn’t leave the Church. The Church left me. When you totally welcome me, I may think of returning. However, leaving the Church allowed me to explore spirituality to an immense degree so I may never go back. Even if it totally accepts me.

Agree 500%. Even the Pope said TWICE that seminaries need to stop the “faggotry.” Yet a psychological study showed only 3% of priests are actually celibate. And we all know straight unmarried Catholics are having sex. It’s the hypocrisy that drove me out of the Church. I really miss it, but I can’t put up with being unfairly hated.

What kills me about all these “Christians” who throw out two or three Bible verses to condemn gay people, YET THEY ARE VOTING FOR DONALD TRUMP! Please explain that logic.

As a Catholic, I could never hate or dislike a LGBTQ person for who they are. They're still Gods children. It's not my place to judge when I commit to many sins myself. I've met too many good, caring people who are LGBTQ, and I've met too many mean people who cast judgement and try to make them feel inferior.

Dear Father, about that "There's no document that says that the Catholic Church..." let me quote Scripture "You recognize them by their fruits". As you video appeared on my feed I wanted to share an insight that led me out to be certain that the Catholic Church is hypocritical in his "embrace" of people like me. I left the Church last month, and become agnostic in the eve of my 30th birthday. This is not coming for a craddle catholic, is coming from a guy who spend the last 15 years in apologetics, prayed the rosary almost every day and never skipped Sunday mass unless a real emergency ocurred and that went to mass during the week when it was possible, that was raised in Opus Dei conservative catholicism, defending Church teaching and history against its "enemies" and when homosexuality comes I was the guy who in collage actively opposed gay marriage legislation and promoted Courage,a guy who saw like 5 times the documentary "Desire for everlasting hills", in fact a guy that was deeply convinced I even when so far to translate Daniel Mattson's book from English to Spanish totally free, I would also got in touch with one of the first man to appear as this "faithful catholic" on living with SSA (I don't want to discourage you but this lovely guy no longer helds the Church position; although the documentary still features him to this day) and the "beauty" of the Cathecism. So this is not coming from an stranger on trying to "attack" the faith. Why I think the Church doesn't really care about gay people: - During John Paul II's pontificate, even though he gave more than 3,000 speeches, there is not a single one where he called catholics to not discriminate against homosexuals (in his tenure discrimination and shame was at his peak in the USA and Mexico); although he complained about Rome's 2000 Pride festival for that he had the time hahah. For these I personally add that John Paul was able to receive Marcial Maciel at the Vatican anytime and praise him publicly as a "guide to the youth", yet he didn't care to address catholic companies and communities to treat homosexuals with respect while yet having time to praise that monster. - The Catholic Church position basically states that we are somehow "deviated"; loved by God and bla bla bla yet deviated. Is it thanks to the activists that people like you and I are able to know live a life without a threat to our lives by sharing with others we are gay; if the Catholic Church still held power as it was on the last century we would be adviced and encouraged to try to fix us somehow, and of course strained for telling anyone publicly about this "deviation", now marketed as "objectively disordered". - The best example of what the Catholic Church will do when still holding power to act on this issue you'll find in the Ugandan bishops attitude to the extreme anti-gay laws. There was complete silence, not even a bishop to publicly go on a quote the catechism cherry verses that "they must be treated with compassion and bla bla bla". This is what makes me realize that the Church, when having power and influence, won't move a finger to help gay people to live better without shame, they will mantain a complicit silence as it did during John Paul II's tenure. But hey! surely when ugandan activists start to raise against such treatment and start using rainbow flags, then and only then the Church will cry "Oh we don't need PRIDE events" or "why they are making such a big deal of such a law?". Although I respect you trying to "make us feel" people like us included, the Church is not even remotely closer to "embrace" us gay people; they just tolerate us because Western society will backlash any "fixing" recommendation. And let me tell you, at least in México if you ask to the right conservative priest you can find conversion therapies still available underground, so yeah, for the Church people like you and me are not lovable, just a PR stunt that must be addresed to not be more publicly mocked. I wish you well and I recognize the intention behind such an impossible task in trying to reconcile this realities that are diametrically opposed; I know myself I tried long enough.

Thanks for leaving a comment. I can hear your struggle and grief. I'm sad to hear you've left the faith, but can understand why. I hope that you know Christ hasn't left you and never will. He understands you and your pains more than you ever can. Try to stay close to Jesus, even if you aren't going to church. That connection with God is everything. If you feel condemned by Him and the Church, know that the voice of God is always filled with hope. If you're feeling alone, isolated, confused, and hopeless this is from Satan. Here is an article that may give you some solace: www.catholic.com/magazine/print-edition/real-love-for-homosexuals . God is with you always!

We are all sinners so I always wonder why the LGBTQ peeps think they are the ones who should get a special pass?
@glenn212now
@glenn212now 2 дня назад
Why do you believe the LGBTQ people are asking for a “special pass?” They just don’t want to be unfairly condemned all the time. Did you know that studies show only 3% of priests are actually celibate? That means the other 97% are having sex and are in secret relationships. And we call know straight unmarried Catholics are hardly chaste. But when is the last time we heard the Pope speak about that? But he did say TWICE that seminaries need to stop the “faggotry.” Sorry but your opinion that gay people want special treatment doesn’t hold water.

Read the latest scientific material about human sexuality. The church is facing another Galileo situation. With hands covering your eyes… you say… What elephant?

@@SaintDominicMedia You mean that you've missed the mountains and mountains of literature witnessing to the fact that sexuality is hardwired, that to oppress people into denying their sexuality destroys lives, in you parlance souls? You've miss the epidemic of suicide among young people when faced with the very rhetoric you're displaying here? I call B.S. You see only what you want to see.

There is a difference between pastoral care and enabling sinful lifestyle.... I haven't seen any of you tried to lead them to repentance and Jesus Christ... LIKE WHAT JESUS ALWAYS ASK and TELL sinners.... GO & SIN NO MORE....

Let me push back on this priest's pushback: RC clergy can not be comfortable with sexuality in general,and homosexuality in particular, because of their vowed celibacy and community life. If they even entertain sexual THOUGHTS ,let alone act on them, that is a " near or remote occasion of sin" ,given their vows. Ok for them, not for me. how did this get into my YT feed. The guilt they have to deal with-- and spread around. Whew.

LOL, this video got into your YT feed by the hand of God. Perhaps there are some areas in your life that need healing. Living a rightly ordered s-x life is HARD whether you are male, female, straight, gay, single, married, etc. We are all called to live as God calls us to live in all aspects of our life. Prayer is key. I will pray a rosary for you James Donahue.

Short answer: Depends if you're Pro-Pope Francis or you're pro-Vigano.

Vigano is a nut but Francis has definitely divided the Church in his pontificate
