Thanks... this review is what I really need to know right now. Im about to use my gopro hero 10 underwater and Im kind of nervous using it without a plastic case. This video is really helpful. Thanks again.
Great testing Chris! Glad to see that there were no mishaps. Although...I suppose that would've been just as informative. 😄 I honestly thought you were using the waterproof casing during the dolphin shots originally. Lovely footage that. 🐬
Not so long ago you needed gimbals and waterproof housing for the GoPros. The fact that all that technology is now inside the tiny camera is astonishing!
I also came from the 4! I agree it does feel weird haha, but I trust it and no one seems to have issues with it. I was thinking it could be an issue eventually when the seal gets old and the camera is knocked up but again it's been many years of water resistant gopros now and all seems fine 👍 I do have the housing for Diving though :D thanks for sharing
Oh boy, I can relate, this was me when I first bought my GoPro Hero 10, longingly looking at the water and trying to make myself believe that it can not harm my device, because it is waterproof :D
Thanks Chris, I was really pleased to find this as was feeling a bit anxious about taking my new Gopro into the sea! I will feel more confident about doing so now. Do you think that it is worth rinsing the salt water from it after a dip in the sea?
My parents are worried that it will instantly break the second I put it in water without the waterproof housing. Tomorrow I will try to show them this video to reassure them that it is actually water resistant. UPDATE 1: I haven't shown them the video yet, but I told them I would show a video and at first they think the videos are faking it. I'll try to show them the video to try to change their mind.
Even i knew my gp 10 can using underwater but still got an anxious and always using case for underwater footage and exactly using that without casing for water footage will got the better result, example when im using case for getting the footage in rainy day, will being bit chaos cause the casing will intolerance with the rain drop
Hi Chris, even though I'm thinking about buying one myself, I'm still unsure about using it under the water. It's like with an old phone I use to have, they said it was waterproof, well guess what, it was not!
Loved your video. Not to dampen your spirits, but I jut watched a series of videos about shark🦈encounters, and I must say I was feeling a bit anxious watching everyone swimming, but then again sharks and dolphins don't swim together. By the way, were you using the 10 while blogging? Just wondering as there is a fare amount of camera shake. Perhaps you didn't have the stabilization turned on. I am glad I watched this, as we are planning a trip to the Philippines and hoping to go to General Luna where they do a lot of surfing. Now I feel confident in getting the GoPro 10. Much mahalo!
Yes it was on my mind that sharks could be lurking. It’s a very popular trip for tourists and I don’t think they’d offer it if there was much of a chance of dangerous sharks. The out of water vlogging is on the Sony ZV1. Even with stabilisation turned on it’s pretty shaky. iPhone is amazing for stabilisation but not quite the picture quality of the Sony. When a compact vlogging camera comes along that can stabilise like a phone but have the quality of a mirrorless camera it will sell like hot cakes! Enjoy your trip and using your GoPro!
Thanks for the video. I have 4 older model GoPRO's that needed a water tight case. I'm definitely going to look into this. My issue was the cases muted the audio unless you wanted to buy more stuff. I love what I'm seeing in the Hero 10. Here we go, Pro #5.
Hi I have taken my 10 to kids pool on holiday. The lcd from screen had lots of what looks like water bubbles inside! I’ve read condensation but the camera was by the pool all day (same temperature) for hours and every time hits water the bubbles appear! I was thinking the standard lence has a poor seal as I use the max lense mod and the standard lens always appear to go on slack and fits loose now? Have you ever removed the lense? Wondered as you had fog in screen?
Well, I use to believe it was really water proof. Until yesterday. This week I have been Snorkeling many times. Diving 2-4m deep. Yesterday the water got into the camera. And the side door was well closed. There was no dirt around or in the door rubber. The camera really got floated a lot of water. I did not try to turn it on yet. I am still figuring out what to do. That's why I landed inthis video.
Watching this video because I need to find this information out for tomorrow I'm like so scared to get my GoPro series 10 wet underwater cuz I'm going to waterpark I'm scared it's going to get ruined
It could be the frame rate you’re shooting at. Depending on computer specs a higher frame rate could cause frames to be dropped resulting in stuttering playback. It should export ok though.
That "fogging" on the front screen is water inside the gopro !!! When it goes in it never goes out!!!! It grows like cancer untill your gopro stops functioning !!!! It takes about a month of 3 water activities per week and the gopro stops working !!!! I lost my hero9 like that !!! GoPro is NOT protected from salt water !!!!
