What makes this segment work is that both sides do have a point : Jericho is right in that santana and ortiz have both been pushed into the spotlight time and time again because they were with him But as the two rightly said, for the longest time, that's all they've ever been, an extension of Jericho The best written arguments is when you can see clear logic on both sides
They need jerico more then jerico needs them. Cause FTR, the death triangle, the young bucks, 2.0 and whatever bobby fish and O'Riley call themselves they are all notches above santana and ortiz cause they talk trash and their promos are interesting.
EASILY the best part of the WHOLE thing! I wonder if it was just ad libbed or if it was planned! It's cool either way but if it was ad lib then it's just showing how much Santana and Ortiz have grown as performers on a tv program, probably in large part due to Jericho helping them all out!
Santana did a fantastic job with this promo. Spoke with conviction, hit on some truths. Felt very real on a lot of levels. Sammy's part sounded scripted and fake but overall, the segment was a lot better than I expected.
Santana really is a top level, underrated promo for sure. Sammy on the other hand needs some work still. He's always sounded very wooden in his delivery. Of the Pillars, I think he is the one who probably needs the most work
Easily the best segment Jericho's been involved in for ages. This breakup hit HARD - the Inner Circle was the first AEW original faction, founded in the very first Dynamite. They were part of the first and second Stadium Stampede, the first Blood and Guts, and now they finally implode. Also helps that Jericho is so much better as a heel.
@@Ohaithurr92 He was really gotten himself into great shape. Really changed from a while back. It's easy to forget it's him from how different he is now,
Man, Santana and Chris Jericho were on fire in the segment. Honestly, all 5 men haven't been much together after their war with the Pinnacle. And props to Sammy Guevara for being the voice of reason.
For that to happen they have to elevate themselves but i dont see that happening cause neither santana or ortiz is good on the mic in regards to trash talking. Ortiz said it himself we dont talk we fight.
Loved this segment. Santana carried. Loved there New York energy and standing up to Jericho. Looking forward to new week to see what Sammy does after whoever wins..
They need alot of work with their promos. The lack of promos that they have done have cost them numerous title shots. Look at 2.0 they talk alot of shit and are being shown on TV more often then santana and ortiz.
This whole segment is Jericho giving the spotlight. Sharing the stage with Santana and letting him give a dramatic monolog. If they gave Emmys for Wrestling this would be part of the Inter Circle's "for your consideration" reel.
@@DragunovWayne usually when he's out this long, it's cause he's training for an MMA fight and he was gonna fight Jon Jones, but idk why it didn't happen
Imo and idc what anyone says if we’re talking promos, Santana and Ortiz are perfect they make me believe what they say is real, and that moment where Santana started chocking Chris instead of just punching him is beautiful story telling showing restraint and not just forgetting it’s a brotherhood but still clearly having a major issues, it’s segments like these that make AEW different.
Even when he looked in the camera and was like “you hear this dude he’s buggin” I loved that confident comfort level he has PRIDE AND POWERFUL FOR TAG CHAMPS
Santana an ortiz only wanna wrestle if they ever wanna be noticed out of everyone else their shit talking game needs to be worked on. Cause right now they are just ---eh ! As an interesting tag team.
@@Daft2Funk You know as well as i do hes going to run through everyone in that company. Unless mark henry comes out of retirement or he does a program with miro or archer.
@@fragmentedcivility5880 Yeah I get that but lightweight division? If you mean Mid Card then yes but weight class I'm quite sure Keith Lee is Heavyweight 😂
I thought the break up was coming vs the Pinnacle. I'm here for this angle tho. Especially seeming like Jericho is going back heel. Hope Hagar does too
the Inner Circle is one of those factions that they dont need to be together everytime to be a faction, they should just be there for each other when they need it.....they dont have to break them up really
The Inner Circle has really outlived it's usefulness. Outside of Hager, there really isn't a member that needs Jericho as their mouthpiece anymore. Even Hager could be an occasional contender to the TNT champion. Jericho vs Kingston is compelling. Santana and Ortiz should be the ones to dethrone Jungle Boy and Luchasaurus. Sammy is good on his own. I think it would be refreshing to not have a major breakup. Just let them beat each other up in a match and then decide it's time to seek their own goals. That way they can come back if needed without the contrived makeup story.
At least after this whole storyline , Jericho can take a break or probably retire from in ring action and do commentary full time. He has nothing else to prove and done all there is in his career and run in AEW. Now it's time to put over Santana and Ortiz and Hager can do his own thing in singles competition.
Inner circle breaking up again this time its cause of eddie kingston telling santan amd ortiz they dont need chris jericho or the group inner circle and to come hack and have the group lax again with diamante and the inner circle broke up the first time cause of mjf
I've never seen this LAX until they debuted on AEW but holy hell, I love the fact AEW and TK saw how we want to see more of them and this segment was perfect. Santana is GOLD and his breaking the 4th wall moments had me in stitches!!
It's such a shame that we will never going to see The Inner Circle have a feud against Chaos, Bullet Club, United Empire, Suzuki-Gun and Los Ingobernables de Japon.
Expected nothing less from these guys. We always enter the zone with Jericho and crew. And SANTANA killed it with that look and face into the camera near end. And sammy throws in the vest. Played out extremely well guys.
Santana and ortiz are great on the mic but they seldom get the opportunity to speak. They should be fighting for the world tag team title. This storyline should be the breakthrough moment for them.
3:08 that was just so badass Santana is absolutely underrated in his promos. I really hope this storyline leads to these two getting more spotlight. I like Jericho showing signs of his heel persona re-emerging again, I've been a bit underwhelmed by his babyface run, he was 10 times better during his heel world title run, that character was hilarious and clever. I hope we see that megalomaniac, old man hanging out with the kids character come back. Perhaps just have it be Jericho with Hagar as his heater
Funny story, last week someone wrote on Santana's twitter feed that it's time for them to get them AEW tag belts. And in response, he posted him breaking the fourth wall there at the end.
by the reaction of fans from this segment, its evident that P&P/LAX should be the face in the feud. After all, the fans are definitely behind them in their chase for the tag team gold. Jericho always did better as a heel, and Hager always better as a monster heel
The highlight for me here is Sammy. Even before his bit, he’s giving off these brilliant looks of agreement as both sides give their arguments. You could tell he was second guessing Jericho before he even spouted off at him.
Overall Chris is right. He has brought talent that alone would of not seen the push nor success they would of had without a big time name like Chris. Now they are in a place where they can go their own ways and start their own. What would make this storyline even better if Chris replaces them with another underutilized tag team. It would be extremely entertaining if they pick up the acclaimed. Mic skills, young, and entertaining next to Chris, Sammy, and Hager. Or for that matter if over the years the inner circle is a place where people join the leave under Chris mentorship.
It's heart-breaking to see my favourite faction in AEW The Inner Circle in disarray...but at the same time Santana & Ortiz vs Chris Jericho and Jake Hager has all the makings of a blockbuster of a tag-team match. PS. Sammy Guevara was right to walk away.
A wrestling company that does great promos on a weekly basis and not just once or twice a year. It's almost like we're back in the old days. Back when pro wrestling was good.
I feel bad for the Inner Circle. They have been a huge faction since the early days of AEW only to get crumbled by the flashy new talent and the egos within the group.
because they're trying not to trying to over stay there welcome and become stale.. dude the guys have been active for like 2 or 3 years now no new members, just one champion and it's not even there leader.its just them compare to factions like Bullet club/ Los ingobernables and Suzuki Gun.. where they add members outside of there promotions.. plus having some form of Fear in the locker room (Kayefabe) this is a smart idea to break up the team slowly.. Plus Wardlow is leaving Pinapple soon... and be AEW's Batista so.. This is all right
Disbanding the Inner Circle may be the best move for all these guys, especially Santana and Ortiz--as they said in this promo, they can shift their focus to becoming the tag Champs. And Sammy can focus on defending his title and not worry about the bullshit of being apart of a faction...
@@simeonflake there could be so many great ones. Elite, inner, mox/danielson, besties, pinnacle, Adam rose/red dragon/Jay white, dark order, idol/hardy, team tax/hook, a few more to make it crazy and the faction wars could be crazy
Both sides brought up valid points, but let’s be real. The real source of these problems is Eddie Kingston. He ran down Jericho in an interview, truthful or not, and Jericho did nothing to him to deserve it. I like Eddie, but he should’ve bitten his tongue. Inner Circle was doing just fine until he got involved.
I mean there's also that one time PnP was getting assaulted after a match while eddie was fighting 2.0 and garcia off and jericho waited a good 5 minutes to come out with a bat
He can talk but he needs a complete revamp of his entire character. The guy has size but hes lacking a shit ton of muscle. Somebody like mark henry needs to take hager to the gym and just have him stack on muscle.
AEW is beginning to find its stride and smoothing out some of the bumps in storylines and production. Little better smack talking and new guys are getting better in the ring.
I always thought they should make Jake more of a force in the group they got Sammy there trying to break up a fight Jake is the only legitimately dangerous person in the Inner circle
Jake is a wobbly noodle. They need to repackage him from top to bottom and put on him nothing but weight and muscle. Build the guy like a brick house then change his wrestling style. Its the only way i can see jake hager ever becoming a somebody in the wrestling business.
@@fragmentedcivility5880 I would say he should do more technical wrestling since he is really really good at it buy since he is so big and most AEW guys are small it wouldn't look right
So what about Jake? Sammy is TNT champion, LAX is gonna become champions soon, Jericho is already a legend. Give that man a chance to prove himself worthy.
I'm with Jericho on this one. regardless of where Santana and Ortiz are currently, they wouldn't have made it this far had they not been with Inner Circle.
@@YourJamaicanChief yea I think he’ll walk away and leave Chris to lose the match potentially breaking up the group. The only thing that has me curious is whether this will be like the MJF run where they were pretending to turn on him to lure in Kingston. I feel like in kayfabe it should be hard for any character to trust him given his track Record of randomly starting feuds with people.
Whenever I see Santana and Ortiz I think about the Usos Man Time to get their spotlight. Even if it isnt for the tag team titles yet, they can still get great matches
One of best things that got me to watch AEW was all the factions. It allows more wrestlers to get air time. Look at the stadium match. 10 guys got to showcase themselves instead of 2. Most of the time when a faction breaks up 3/4 of the members fade into obscurity. The inner circle is a good example since they effectively broke up months ago. Haggar is non existent. Sammy is on less even though he has a title. Santana and Ortiz have had less air time. Also AEW needs at least one babyface faction that wins. Other 2 baby face factions. Dark Order and Orange Cassidy's groups lose most of the time. AEW needs at least one good guy group that wins.
