Does the M48A1 Beat The Centurion MK.3 In War Thunder 

I really like how versatile it is, sure it isn't the fastest tank, but that 2-plane stabilizer is just gold.

Xd vehicle is great till u meet T55am1/vidar/turm iii/leo1. Shit armor, no mobility, shells 4hat do NOTHING to these vehicles (no spall to ldo 1 with apds, bouncing off turm iii drivee hatch or srh with apds). Great tank on its br, great against us, france, normal natiins, nor broken ones. Againsy sweden, germany, russia, gets raped. Especially that germany has broken cas. Sho't is better, at least u have 50cal. Sayin it as a player that has 2:1 k/d, grinded through M48a1 first, then cent. Cent is overall bettwr, but lack of good gun makes it shit, lack of heat. Doing nothing to marders, df 105s, because u have no spall, dying because u bounce off a BMP1 WITH 105 APDS, not fucking fun. Good tank, but i hate brits sometimes. Currently suffering at 8.0, each match u meet 8.7/9.0, turm iik anf leo, and 55am1 rape you every match. Sales moment.

Yeah. But the gun depression and amazing angle performance of their APDS are *chef's kiss*. When I got to 8.0 in the chinese tech tree and saw that 100mm at 60° APDS round I was apalled and missed my trusty L7 gun all the way through the grind 😢

@@luisurdiales3091 people always say that APDS is bad, they just have skill issue

The L7 is a superb gun with the 2nd and 3rd gen apds, and only gets better.

APDS isnt fundamentally bad, it's inconsistent

Just play sweden. You basically get the best parts of british german and russian vehicles

That .50 cal can be useful indeed.

Its a very skill based vehicle. It has the tools, but extreme downsides. No armor and piss poor top speed means you must hit every shot perfectly and be completely aware of your surroundings to succeed. One mistake and you're done. But if you play it right you can easily go on a rampage.

I happen to have the Centurion Mk.2 I find it even better than the MK.3 due to it having the same armor, 2-plane stabilizer, and sits at 6.7. sure it has a 17 pdr instead of a 20 pdr, but the 17 pdr will do the job just fine at that br range.

I'll admit I really like the M48 (I'm a big M48/M60 fan), but you are right the M47 is almost as good, but at a better BR.

@@SeanFicken The M47 has a much faster turret traverse being nearly around 38 deg/sec aced or 32 deg/sec experted which is faster than all but some light tanks at that BR.

I had forgotten just how fast the turret traverse on that.

Nah, the M47 is honestly just bad. It's turret is incredibly weak and it's gun is really low, so the enemy can see you even if you can't see them. Stick with the M46, that thing is actually well protected and has a low profile.

I love the look of rounded body pattons. But it's god awful in this game. Horrible armor, wimpy gun. The m103 is a better tank, and even that sucks on uptiers

I personally think having that 2-plane stabilizer and smoke grenades is what really makes the Centurion great, ant puts it a bit ahead of the M48, I really wish the M48 had a solid shot stock though. I do recall it had one irl that has fairly decent penentraiton.

How is it a crime? Still better than most 8.0s.

T-54's are 7.7-8.0 so, its fair.

@@Paciak1184 Yes. It's not the vehicle that sucks, it's the BR compression. Tell me any 7.7 that isn't completely shat on by 8.3 SPAA or medium tanks with darts and stabilizer.

I honestly really like doing them, they are unique in that no one really does tank vs tank like this that I know of, and it's quite informative of the relative performance. It could be better to compare gameplay, but that is outside of the scope of what I wanted to make.

That's true, if I recall correctly the Isreali's liked the M48 more than the Centurions, which I find very interesting. My guess is that it's due to the fire control system like you mentioned among other things. US was ahead when it came to FCS on their tanks at that time.

I actually really like playing the M48 as well, the centurion is better due to the stabilizer and decent ammo, but the ammo variety and extra speed the M48 is more of what I like.

IIRC it even used to be 6.3, that was before stabilizers were properly modeled though.

Iirc British found it actually could when they finally got to fire at one though they initially thought it wouldn't.

They put it up on br bc they added the stabilizer

Centurions with the 20pdrs and their poor engines are not 7.7 material, at best 7.3. I should say the same about the Mk10 being 8.0 currently, it needs to go back to 7.7

Following what the other person mentioned, those two terms are interchangeable, The US documentation mentions them as gun shields, I prefer to say that term so that's what I say.
