I appreciate this. I like that you help people understand what they need or don't need rather than selling them a clutch kit. Having the wrong clutch for what you're doing will really sour people on their sxs.
Yes I agree this guy knows what he’s talking about and has been in the business a long time. And he is a straightforward honest fella I will give him my business if you need a clutch or rollers
First time in 11 years of riding fast trails and mudding that Ive seen an explanation like this. I appreciate the awesome info. I ordered your belt yesterday and I'll probably order a kit from you soon. Thanks for the info.
Awesome video. This is exactly why I had my Turbo S re-geared for the type of riding I do. Lower gearing with the existing clutching really makes it perfect for rock crawling.
Just bought a new set of tires for my rzr 32s and i was alomost tempting to bye a clutch kit that i was told i had to but not anymore thanks..Good stuff man thanks im glad i watched and listened to this before i bought a clutch kit .
Nailed it. On my last sxs I used a dalton kit but left the stock primary spring in. Gave me good low engagement, but kept rpms in the sweet spot at wfo and it seemed to have good belt grip. This was in a wildcat 1000x with mud 32s. Bought a 19 rzr turbo.. Went to 33s but I'm not sure what I want to do yet. I'm thinking about doing something similar to what I did on the cat.
I like ur honesty injustice subscribed cause this video I just installed 32s on 14in rims I've been giving both yes or no but I'm that guy that rides low range I dont do no mud maybe few hills but nothing crazy so thank u
Excellent video I kinda didnt understand why everyone was doing upgraded clutches I did 30x10x14 5+4 offset wheels I was a rockcrawler guy I did this setup for stability and I cant notice any difference in my clutches and I'm still learning the utv side thanks for the video I think I'll be ordering your belt tho
I have rzr xp tires and wheels on my 2017 rzr a 1000. I was always hitting the rev limiter with the stock clutch at about 50mph. I threw a dalton clutch kit in it. When tuned in properly. The difference is night and day. Just have to find the happy zone. Now my rzr doesnt hit the limiter at all. It electronically cuts at 75mph.
Thanks for the info. I have a rzr 1000S and went to 29” tires from the stock 27s and I do a mix of technical and fast fire road riding. I do have a heavy foot. Even in the rough trails. Lol. I found the 29s with factory clutch actually gave me better throttle control as I found it a bit too easy to have the tires break loose on technical trails with the 27s. Very similar traction from both tires over all. But often wondered if the round secondary rollers and better belt would be worth the $$$ and make a noticeable difference.
GREAT tutorial videos! Thanks!!! My 2014 Polaris Ranger 900 xp SUDDENLY started stalling when coming to a stop. I put in it park, it restarts perfectly UNTIL I put it in gear and then it immediately stalls, We pulled the clutch cover, no dirt, water or even moisture. We blew out all the belt and clutch dust, sprayed Primary thoroughly w/brake cleaner, blew it out again, started perfectly and as soon as I put it in gear, it stalled immediately. BTW, my secondary clutch is a Venom product. Thoughts anyone? TIA!
Could be several things, most common is a bad bearing in the primary or alignment, this article will help you find it then let me know what you find or take the same picture as in article and email it to me so I can see what you got going on. Also, if this started when you put a new belt on, it can be that the fact it is new and this wider than your old, then with a slight alignment issue your narrow old belt cleared a new one does not, sometimes once broke it can go away. There is also a video version of this article link on the page too www.hunterworks.com/grinding_into_gear_creeping New Video about this ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Yoi_YELCd9E.html
@@Hunterworks THANKS for the quick feedback. It’s not a new belt and it’s still in solid shape. I’ll check the vids out and go from there. Thanks again!!!
Not sure I am ready just yet, but do you happen to have the link to the correct kit for 19 rzr XP turbo. 32 will be largest tire I will go. I will do mainly trails but some dunes every so often. So maybe something I can adjust when needed.
Todd, I'd love to see a video for 2017-2019 RZR Turbo. I currently have 32" tires and clutched for a stage 1 tune, hoping for reliability. My tuner put on an EPI belt, which I think he was just trying to up sell me.
Before spending money on a clutch, dont forget to check your motor mounts. My Ranger was starting to not shift right and I thought I needed a clutch. Come to find out, 2 of the 3 rubber motor mounts had failed and the motor was shifting around throwing the alignment and deflection way off.
Great video as always. Do you have a video explaining how to drive a Cvt? The vast majority of people have no idea and it drives me crazyx! Cuz they are the ones blowing belts!
Hey there, Randy here again. I recently cleaned the secondary sheave and put a new drive belt on and the.n went for a little test drive around the block in low and the rpms where really high, and then in high gear top speedwas around 30/35 and then ideled it back to gerage just didnt seem right. Wondering if maybe clutch needs some help???? I only have 30"tires and only do trails and some washes nothing hard core, its the 2015 rzr4 900eps any info would be appreciated. Good learning video about the different ways of clutches made alot of sense. Thanks.🇺🇲🇺🇲
Todd, What is the advantage of the Low Stall Spring vs the spring the Dalton kit comes with? Is there more or less belt grip with the low stall spring>?
I have an important question, I have a 4 seat Polaris General 1000 and I need to change my EPS and most likely secondary clutch. I found NONE EPS aftermarket parts and the Clutch kit I can't seem to find. I really need help because I don't want to spend $1,800 on a new EPS kit. Please comment back if you have time or know what I can do. Also, I enjoyed your video! Thank you so much!
So I have a 18 xp1000 non turbo. All I do is trails. Recently added 32s but felt the difference in performance wise much slower. Would I be ok adding a clutch kit then? I usually ride fast and slow. Just wanna be on the safe side.
What's up Hunterworks? 2019 RZR turbo 2 seat. Run 32" tires, fast slow desert trails fast slow mountain trails. Aggressive when possible but slow down for rocks and tree roots. Ride 5000ft to 7000ft elevation. What kind of set up you think? Thanks.
What would you recommend for a 2020 Polaris ranger crew Xp 1000 high lifter edition? It has 4’ gear portals, extended forward 2’ a arms front and back an also 2’ wheel spacers With 35’ roxxilla tiren and I use it in muddy places and dry dirt trails?
I am a complete Noob to this ATV world, I recently bought a Polaris Sportsman 500 HO X2 that has stock 25s on it. This machine will be used mostly to pull a 4x6 dump trailer around on my woodlot for cleaning up storm damage trees and smaller stuff that is hard to get to with my tractor. I will be getting 26s that are more aggressive, any recommendations are appreciated.
I have a 2011Polaris Ranger 800 xp eps (not crew) and I have a set of Camoplast (now Camso) tracks that I use in winter to pull a 12’ home made snowmobile trail groomer. It has an electric lift cylinder for various depth cut that works off an in cab switch. All of this to say it works hard. It seldom is used to just play, and hauls firewood wood in the box plus pulls a trailer in summer, on the tires (tracks come off in the spring). What would you recommend. I’m in Ontario Canada
@Hunterworks: Hopefully you see this question since this video was posted 4 years ago. I have to throttle about 3/4 of the way down to have my RZR go forward. Could it be a loose belt, would I need heavier weights so that the clutch can catch the belt sooner? I'm new to UTV and I bought this RZR off my friend (2008 RZR 800). He had told me that he had the 800 motor replaced with a 1000.
So I just bought a 2012 800H/O. It has a lift and 30” tires and 18” wheels. I am planning on down sizing to 28’s with 14” wheels. But my problem right now is it has no power. It does rpm over 3k and I am lucky to get it over 30mph on level ground. What is you opinion on this, could it be the clutch going out or something else cause the power the machine should make go away? Thanks.
Please advise, I just bought a brand new 2015 rzr 1000 high lifter, and I mainly use it for dunes in the desert. I put on a desert pedal tires, do I need to upgrade my clutch kit for better performance? Or just get the HWs belt? Thank u so much for that channel and all the efforts you put into it.
Hello sir i got a 2016 can am maverick max xds turbo 1000 currently with a stock 26 tires but want to go to 30 or 32 , i only ride trials 25/30mph do i need a clutch kit ?
2021 rzr 900 trail ultimate, would i need to get a clutch kit to upgrade to 14 inch wheels and 28 inch tires? Mainly trail riding 15-20 mph max, and some wide open riding high speeds. And some hills 100ft long at most with rocks.
Thank u for your opinion, I’m very confused what to do. I own a 2021 rzr900s and want to upgrade to a tusk terabyte 30-10-14, well they r truly a 29plus tire. I mostly ride a normal trails, some rocks a. Midd and water. Nothing crazy. What do u recommend to do with my clutch, do I have to change? I would really appreciate your opinion on this. Thank you
I would not upgrade to the 30 inch tires I would stick to 28 or if you do not rock crawl then the clutch kit and secondary rollers would still be a benefit to you with 28 or 30s
Hi I have a Polaris 570 midsize I’m in Louisiana and don’t do a lot of speed riding it’s a hunting bike and I’m always carrying loads of corn and such in a lot of mud I’m just about always in low range and am running a 2.5 lift and 27 inch tires I’m looking for more low end torque will a kit help or hurt me
I have a 2021 Highlifter xp4 and I'm going to run 33 inch tires on 18 inch MSA wheels.65 lbs a piece. I'm a trail/ hill climber I'm on the throttle hard in short burt but average no faster than 60 on the he trails or highway to get there. What you recommend?
I have a 2019 rzr xp 4 turbo. Just got a set of 32 maxxis carnivores and msa beadlocks. Do alot of trail riding, rock crawling and technical riding. Hill climbs as well were i have to give it a good throttle. Do you think i need to put a clutch kit on it for that type of riding with 32 inch tires?
Ok I have a 2018 scrambler 1000xp we mud ride alot but tail ride alot as well i don't like big heavy tire cause i don't want to lose power but maybe I'll put some 29s on 1 day for the mud, I want to put on a clutch kit to pick up the slack of the tires but my question is will I lose power on the top end? Cause something me a my friends race when we are feeling good and I don't like losing lol so what's your opinion?
You could get a clutch kit like the dalton we sell and keep adding weight to the flyweights to do it, however that is not something you should do, you set shift rpm where it should be which is around 8400 and let it be what it is at any speed.
Thank you for your videos I have a question I have 2015 Polaris 1000 xp I’m having a problem with shifting gears and it looks like my rpm doesn’t want to drop fast enough to the normal range I have to wait some time for rpm to go down in order to shift my gears Thank you
Hello, i have a 2015 RZR 900 4 and do mostly Trail riding with some good ol Alaska swamp riding. I would like to go up a few sizes over stock on tire size and was wondering if I should clutch it or reduce gears. Let me know what you think is best modification to make.
Depends on size of tires but you also have the secondary clutch that fails a lot send me an email todd@hunterworks.com and I’ll send you some information on that
I ride trails 25_35 km/h 80% of the time. Hit the throttle on the trail connection roads 80+ km/h on 30" cryptids and sometimes haul firewood with my trailer on 27" stock tires. Do I need a clutch kit?
@@Hunterworks I have found Iron Baltic. They make stage 1,2 and 3 kits. So you would say it‘s better having a clutch kit on hauling wood every now and then on 27“ stock tires then having no kit on and riding trails with 30“?
What would you suggest for a 2019 Polaris ranger 1000 XP on 33’s high lifter 3s, I do a lot of trail riding under 25 mph And occasional mud riding? Thanks
I live in the desert...We host the BITD Parker 250 and 425. Was going to get 32s and I like to do mostly a lot of full throttle and some hill climbing. Would I need one...?
I’m putting 30 inch tires on my Polaris 700 and I normally ride from 40 to 70 mph on street and go muddying quite often I’m wondering what’s the best clutch kit for it to get me more torque and enough to pop a wheelie like some people in my area they say they got a clutch kit but I need to know the best brand
Hi i have a Polaris Ranger 800 xp 2011 my primery clutch have been change for à tuffer one but i lost speed and have poor start just like it missing power got 26 inches tires installer of 25 what should i do to have more fun when i go trailing in show sorry for my poor english i am french and appreciate your video
@@Hunterworks all hé said that primera clutch wont break what should i do is there à clutch that is better that the original one thank you for your fast awnser
Does your quote "you cant be a rock crawler on sat and a sand dune rider on sun" go for the stock clutch as well or only your upgraded hunter works clutch?
Hi I have a 2020 Rzr s1000 with stock 27 tires looking to swap out with the Rzr turbo s tires that are 32 can I put does bigger tires without the clutch kit and if so what do I need
Same here but I’have a 800s with stock 12’s rims planning to swap to 14s With 29 tires from 27’s Stock at the moment Any recommendations to keep oem clutch oh upgrade to Dayton
@@Hunterworks thank you sir! and I'm going to get your rollers. Not quite yet but soon. I watched your video on them. I've been riding for 2 years on the square pucks what are the chances ive already damaged something?
My 09 rzr 800 hits the limiter a bit when I mash it from a stand still. Should I start with a new belt or do a belt and clutch kit? 09 800 with 28” big horns, LTE exhaust and tuner, rev limiter raised by 500 rpm. Trail riding and hill climbing.
Hunterworks Inc. I prefer to ride slow but keeping up with the 1000 machines means my foot is to the floor quite a bit. It only hits limiter from a stand still.
The mods you have you would have good performance with the Dalton kit we sell but that rpm deal is very common with a 800, most folks do not floor it from a dead still so unless you are drag racing, just mash the gas don't stomp it from a dead still
I have a 2018 High Lifter. It came with 32's I put 35's on it. Still seems to do great. Do they come with a different clutch because of the stock 32's?
What would you recommend for a 2020 Polaris ranger crew Xp 1000 high lifter edition? It has 4’ gear portals, extended forward 2’ a arms front and back an also 2’ wheel spacers?
@@Hunterworks ok thanks for the advice but I already have the 35 and there is nothing I can do about it now because I’m out of USA, I’ll get some belts from you, thank you Sr
