Steven Adam’s is a legit defender who can defend in the post and perimeter. Rebounding is where Eden is still very valuable. If Deandre Ayton can get a max deal he can as well. He’s a slower more durable version to me.
😭😭 buddy is slower than a turtle race, even Jokic is faster than this dude. Plus jokic’s slow play works for him to slow down the offense to draw defenders and make the cut pass or out to the 3. Most of you 🤡s don’t watch ball, just stats.
@@Lucciii32 It doesn't sound like you've watched many Purdue games either. It's not like they've never played teams that pushed the pace. Edey has consistently made great passes from the post out to the shooting guards.
It all depends on which team he's drafted to, and how much they get him involved in the offense. No matter how much the game has changed, every now and then, you need that original BigMan back into play.
Rudy Gobert is not a true center! He has ZERO post moves! Has no way of creating any kinda offense himself! He’s a pick and roll center like Capela, Mitch Robinson, Etc!
How is it sad? Players have evolved to being able to do a lot more on the court so if Zach doesn’t do good in the league (or doesn’t get in the league at all) then it’s kinda on him
Not even in 95 In 2014 Jalil Okafor was drafted based on his size and offensive footwork...this guy would be seen as a guy to lock down a potential athletic Center who is causing problems
I know this is 3 months ago but no he would not have been in 1995. He would have been a late first round pick in the 90… maybe in the 60-80s but probably the cut off is 85. I will say he would have seen the court in the 90s for more then 10 minutes but now he’s probably going to have a lot of 3millions in the box score and be on a bunch of 2-way deals. The sad thing is he is a senior in college and probably a 3-4 year project in the nba to even start seeing the court. Teams are not patient with centers that are his age and can’t spread the floor. He is going to make a lot of money in Europe and other leagues tho
Brook is good fuck outta here with STEVEN ADAMS 🤣 Gobert plays his role even tho he’s overrated and over paid fucking Steven Adams ? His career high is 14 ppg and that’s mainly bc of Russ forcing assists to him
He meant Centers that actually score and thay he would actually have to guard. Lopez scores but he's more of a stretch. Guarding the pick n roll will be his worst night mare.
Yup lol NBA is trash. It’s too passive and non aggressive now. I understand all the protect shooters with undercutting and all that but then let people hand check and everything. That way they can stay an arms length away while being in good defensive position. There won’t be any undercutting cause they can stop the shot with the hand check. And the really good shooters can still get a shot off. But the average ones may struggle. This way you can balance the flash with the grit.
I don’t know why they didn’t incorporate him shooting from the field. He doesn’t have to do anything different to spin around in shoot… he’s so tall and I was watching the game today he could just turned around and shot a jumper. And who’s gonna block him If it’s not being double teamed?! Denver’s Center is amazing and he can do it all and that’s what makes him so dang good and I hope Zach Edey can go to a place like that and be a double threat and learn some things from the man himself.
@@FSVR54Zach plays a lot of minutes in college and he’s also the team’s main scorer of course he’s going to conserve his energy. Imagine him just being a role player getting rebounds and scoring a few buckets. He would be faster.
I look at his feet and he is very coordinated. Better than Clingan. He dominated this guy in the tournament yet he getting better draft position than Edey. Starting to think, on the right team he will be a steal.
@@matthewc3488late first round pick, maybe solid minutes off the bench. The slow foot work and limited post offense will be the detriment. 🤡s don’t get the difference between what centers are expected of on defense in college vs the NBA where this dude is gonna have to move around and switch on to perimeter players. The small ball pick and roll will expose him. This doesn’t work with players like wemby, because of how quickly he can recover.
That’s swell and all, but he has no jumper. No post move other than going over his left shoulder; no left hand, no spin move, no turnaround J, nothing beyond 6 feet. Legendary college player, we’ll leave it at that.
If he can find coaches and trainer to teach him how to use his feet better and get him in great shape I could see him having a career! Don’t know how impactful but he can definitely play
@@be4unvme he’s actually the best offensive rebounder in the league n hailed for his toughness. Are u dumb. You literally named his best attributes as his faults n didn’t mention his shortcomings. Go stick your head out the window n go to bed
@@mikevickilovedogsWhen he said the league has two real centers he meant as a guy who can lead their team in the playoffs and Embiid and Jokic are the only two. Everybody else needs to be the second or third option.
That’s the worst idea I’ve ever heard. “Let’s get a gigantic lumbering center like it’s 1995. He can screw up our motion offense & then get put in the pick & roll and victimized relentlessly until he’s out of the league.”
He has the feel and IQ, just needs more experience in that department. I heard he started playing basketball just 3-5 years ago. I think he can develop the ability to make better reads and leverage his post presence to hit open shooters or cutters for good 3s. I even think he can develop a fadeaway shot eventually, he has the soft touch. @@jamesandthangs1234
Edey is more like a bigger version of ivica zubac. It will be rough for him the first yr but he will be fine. If ivica zubac still exist here in the nba then this kid will be just fine.
Wemby might not be a traditional center. But, I trust Edey at 7'4 305 pounder to score against Victor than some 6'7 who likely will get his shot swatted. But hey, imagine if the two ended up on the same team. It would be hard since Zach is moving up the draft and I don’t know if the Spurs will be in a position to draft him.
@@mizrahimjew9351Big flaw in your logic. Why would you want somebody trying to score on somebody like Wemby? It doesn't make any sense. The reason NBA teams don't play through the post anymore, is because it's way less efficient than playing from the perimeter unless you are Jokic or Embiid or Anthony Davis...who also can all play on the premier if needed. You don't want to pound the ball down low and try to score on Wemby because even if you do, it's gonna be inefficient and ineffective. Edey is a big slug who can't move his feet on his defense. He's gonna be a victory cigar like Boban was lol
Hmmm. Denver could be very interesting. It'd be like having 2 Jokers in a way. He stays put down low on offense and Joker roams, and on D you just sit him down in the post. The other team never gets a rebound again..... Ever.
Given that Centers have evolved makes the game that much more great presently. If you're not evolving at that position and putting in the work to do so that's on the player.
@@M3333_ you just stick the center to dry. Also golden state has by far the best training curriculum of any basketball team logically. With Lonely and other center, they'll show him other techniques while Steve Kurr will train how he train McGee and others.
Timberwolves are playing well with two bigs. He isn’t as athletic as Towns, Reid or even Gobert, but with the right coaching he will shed some weight, tone up, then build strength to bully in the paint.
He’s got good hands (real good) and nice touch. Good vision, not bad mobility. Has no offensive moves outside of 6 ft. No jumper, no left hand, no go-to move. He’s basically Mark Eaton.
He should go to the Sixers to learn from Embiid and be the backup Center which might be the most important position on that team with how they depend on Embiid for everything. They can play through Edey when Embiid sits and hopefully just stay neutral in the +/- with good teams.
Watch him trying to accelerate from a standing position. Slow as a glacier. Imagine him at the 3 point line defending a high screen and switching on NBA shooters. Good luck with that.
Eady would do well remaining in Indiana and playing for the Pacers. His basketball acuity, rebounding, blocks - his skill set wld round out the Pacers defense and with our running game & holding the #1 offensive during the regular season, we would develop him from DAY 1 into a star, it just makes sense.
In this "3P era" only 11 centers (including backups) have 3P shooting as part of their game (3+ 3PA per game). Of starting centers, only 9 shoot 2+ 3PA per game. So still some "clodders" if you will. Nurkic, Adams, Sabonis, Ayton, Zubac, Valančiūnas are anything but quick, but still get big minutes. Others are good in covering space laterally, but can't shoot a 3P to save their lives such as Kevan Looney, Bam Adebayo, Allen, & Gobert. Nikola Jokic Joel Embiid Rudy Gobert KAT Brook Lopez Al Horford Nikola Vucevic Nic Claxton Mason Plumlee Jarret Allen Dwight Powell Jalen Duren Jacob Poetl Kevon Looney Myles Turney Alperen Şengün Ivan Zubac Mitchell Robinson Wendell Carter Domantas Sabonis DeAndre Ayton Jusuf Nurkić Steven Adams Jonas Valančiūnas Walker Kessler Kristaps Porziņģis Bam Adebayo Jaren Jackson Jr.
edey would have been a been a 1st pick years ago. but the thing is he has the drive and ability to learn quick. whoever gets him will have a hard working talent
Steven Adams, Brook Lopez are strong archetypes for him. I think he could do great in Miami, Golden State, Lakers, Celtics, Thunder, could all be great landing spots.
Been calling for Nuggets to draft Edey Edey needs shooters and cutters and that’s what Jokic has and let jokic work with edey to improve his passing and imagine a zone where you could play jokic and Edey together and Joker would throw the best passes into the post for edey
Edey is way too slow to play defense to NBA. The days of slow, plodding big men is over. Opposing guards would put him in a pick-and-roll and just abuse him play after play. There aren't that many elite ball handlers and shooters in college but basically every NBA team has at least one.
@@jakejones2927 she can't play defense that he's not going to be in the NBA at all, which is the most likely outcome. If he's so good, why isn't he projected to be a top pick?
Knicks fan here I would love it if we draft him Hartenstein will be too expensive and Mitch is always hurt they need a big that can play D but also is comfortable with the ball in their hands to make the right pass Edey fits that build
There are 2 teams i would like to see him go to. Either the timberwolves or the nuggets. The timberwolves because if he can become a defensive asset straight away it will help them with joker in the 24/25 season. On the flip if the nuggets took him just to stop other teams from the potential of developing him it would mean Joker will continue to be mostly unguardable
Love you charles but Gobert, Poeltl, zubac, Nurkic, Sengun, Bam, Claxton just to name a few. Edey is gonna be a great NBA player, he'll win DPOY at least once and if he learns to shoot he may just win MVP.
Edey's biggest liability is not that he cannot or won't shoot the 3 Pointer, but that he has poor foot work, lacks physicality (strength) to establish position under the basket and he often disappears from the game (especially on offense) and puts the ball below his knees where others can either steal, block or alter his shoot.
Exactly what I was thinking. Denver works for him. He can learn, and get the beginning of the 2nd and 4th qtr. They can play zone and hide his lateral abilities a little and play Flex for a few minutes. Surround him with shooters.
We need to draft Zach edey instead of keeping nurkic develop edey into the franchise player get a backup center and a point guard and defensive guys that’s all we need
