Hi Everyone!
My name is Dan, and today I am sharing a video where a dog bites a veterinary assistant while she gives the dog a nail trim. This video has been making it rounds on social medical mostly because the dog looks so silly, like a puppet, when it goes to bite.
For me this video brings back flashbacks for owners trying to hold and doing a poor job at it. Most of the dog bites I remember and have been a part of have been when owners try to hold. It is super sweet of them to offer, but most dog bites happen when unskilled holders try to hold a door for a medical procedure or nail trim.
In this video you can see the owner even laugh as he is losing control of the dog's head.
I feel so back for this veterinary assistant or veterinarian technician. This bite may or may not have cause a lot of physical trauma depending on how many teeth the dogs has left in his mouth and the power of its bite, but the amount of emotional trauma could lead to this team member not coming back to work.
I have seen a number of team members in the veterinary work force not come back after getting bitting, because they are just too nervous or scared to try again. I know after a bad bite I had, It was hard for me to get back into the clinic. It takes time after something like this.
