Grooming a 11 weeks old standard poodle. First puppy grooming for this puppy. The whole ear hair cleaned out/ nail cutting/ anal glands expressed/ and dryer/ clipper experience.
I’m on my second standard poodle and my new guy is just over three months old. But I’ve decided to start grooming this one myself. I already have the clippers, 70 dollar brush that I couldn’t believe my wife bought who passed away two and a half years ago. I guess she had to have the Chris Christianson brand that looks exactly the same as all the others that cost ten bucks. But she learned from me and my 40 plus years of buying the most expensive tools. lol but now that I’m trying to get all the things I need for grooming, that blow dryer and stand I’m about to look into is making me almost rethink doing the grooming myself. We tried it together six or so years ago and we laughed and cried out of frustration grooming my boy Bosco, and he was all over the place. We said let’s leave the grooming to the professionals. I swear my best buddy Bosco who died of bloat this past thanksgiving cost me about twenty grand in four years, and that’s not counting the ten grand when they operated on him and he ended up dying two days later still at the hospital. I had five German shepherds in my 26 years of marriage and when I had to put my last best friend down, I wasn’t gonna get another dog. My wife decided she was gonna get one for her self and she definitely surprised me when she paid four grand for an 8 week old black standard poodle. When she passed away I swear that dog of hers saved my life. He put up with me while I was a mess for over 8 months of barely taking care of him. But he was so cool and loving that I don’t think I loved any of my other dogs like the way that poodle affected me. I’m so glad I got another one from the same blood line as the mother of my other dog. This little black standard poodle is so smart and funny, I decided that I’m gonna be the one who bathes and grooms him. Sorry about the rant. But I never thought I would ever have a poodle for a dog. Best dogs ever. ✌️👍🇺🇸
Oh my gawd!! Pointed scissors right next to her eyes? You must use blunt nose scissors. It really scares me to see that. If the puppy jerked it could be a disaster. And why is she free on the table? She should be in the collar. I hope she explains what’s going on here.
It’s alright! We are used to grooming dogs, therefore we know if we can control her or not. Scissors wise, it’s straight scissors for me body and face!
I’m a groomer and it doesn’t dry their skin out that’s impossible with air. The whole point is to dry the hair though. We can’t send dogs soaking wet home and let them air dry.
You're very rough with a dog. You're pulling the crap out of her hair with that brush. -- she is frightened bc You're freaking rough & not very friendly with the puppy
