I believe it was two weeks that she had to wear the suit/cone. We definitely opted on the more cautious end (no stairs, running, etc.). It was so hard for her! Hey Petra - It's definitely a personal preference and ultimately a decision you must make based upon input from your breeder, vet, and your own research. We opted for one heat cycle because we felt like this was a healthy mix of all the opinions. Good luck!

A breeder has no interest in your dog's wellbeing, medically speaking. Breeders would only recommend what they would choose themselves, in case they find out that one of their b*tches cannot be bred for whatever reason. I have never owned dogs, but stray cats, all of them spayed/neutered. If a vet is incapable of performing safe surgery for animal sterilization, then the person is a very shitty doctor. I live in Romania, where all animals without pedigree must be sterilized. Very seldom have I heard about animals dying during/following sterilization surgery. Doctors are very knowledgeable and this kind of surgery is among the easiest. And my country does not have standards like the West.
