Something interesting is dogmeat in fallout 4 is modeled off a german shepherd named river she sadly passed away edit she passed away on June 26 2021 and Google also says that she voiced dogmeat also Edit 2 there a mod on pc that adds a Statue of river you can build
Thing is there are different dog meats, from Fallout 1-TV Show. So it kinda gets confusing with what dog is what, so at least we got another name for this one.
Personally, I like this? I like dog meat and more about this one. Because it always felt like we didn't get a story from dogmeet at all. Only to know it's owner passed away or we just find him At least it's fall out new Vegas. We got a robot dog and had a story.
When ever you find dogs in fallout they’ll have dog meat on them that you can eat so I think it’s mainly a joke that everyone in the wasteland just calls every dog dog meat
If i had a nickle for everytime this actor plays a smart guy who made something dangerous for the gov just to do his own thing with it, while having a limp and a german shepherd, id have 2 nickles
@@Charles-oe4kjThe first time was in Person Of Interest (if you havent watched it you must try to, it is a really good show) and the second time is in this Fallout show
@@Chbond00765man... Malinois is not an aggressive breed, there's no such thing as aggressive breeds, in fact. Every canine expert will tell you that. Malinois are faster to train, they're much more reactive, energetic and usually don't have much trouble switching between owners. Their health is also on another level unlike German Shepherds. Malinois were bred to WORK. If they don't have work, they become chaotic and uncontrollable. Extremely high energy, fast running speed, incredible agility, outstanding intelligence and response time and a strong need to serve is why more and more Malinois are used as police/show dogs.
@@theangrygermanlad1328 The first Dogmeat in the original Fallout was literally just a stray male dog that you could recruit and that would, canonically, die later in the game.
That scene genuinely made me feel bad. I couldn't bring myself to do it ever;( I would just hide it from others and take care of it, Idc about no resource shortage or whatever
@@myballspaul4889it’s different in the show and seems to change every so often depending on the medium which is honestly quite a strange but short history of retcons. In fallout 4 it’s a boy which is prolly where most people know them from.
I love the implication that every Dogmeat from the franchise has escaped from the Enclave. Explains why they're all so well trained and capable in combat.
Todd has to have is mustache twirling bad guys. He can’t let the faction be good.. at all. It’s a shame since they’re definitely the most interesting faction.
@@melon-qm7edthat’s his point. The game was given an Enemy that, realistically, many people would root for for various reasons. Advanced technology? Civilized structure and order? Clean up the wasteland? Etc. So naturally to avoid having an interesting and nuanced faction that some people may have the “wrong opinions” about, they instead consistently make the Enclave cartoonishly evil.
@@yeettheheat2684 did I though? Nazi germany had slightly better tanks and figured out rockets first. The enclave is the brotherhood of steel what the Golden age of Humanity is to the 41st millennium Humanity. And I do not see ridding a wasteland of super mutants and ghouls who are by and large extremely violent and a net negative for a struggling to survive humanity anywhere on par with slaughtering millions of innocent men, women, and children. This is why they have to insert cartoonish villainy of mcguffins that would kill every Non-Enclave in the wasteland.
It also looks like he injects dogmeat with the same topp he used to inject cold fussion into his neck. Makes me assume dogmeat as something in him. Maybe another cold fussion. Maybe something else. Imagine if its the fev.
Dog companions are big deals in the fallout universe you’ve got the Dogmeat lineage, Our Cyberdog Rex and our kiddo CX-404 not to mention the many named dogs throughout the fallout universe
@@Schproemftell yeah that's what i said, he isn't a maniac. he wants ultimately wants good for the wasteland even if his methods are harsh in the moment.
The real Dogmeat died in 2162 when he incinerated himself in a force field at Mariposa. Fortunately Dogmeat can cross time and space and cause himself to be reborn at any location.
Dogmeat is just a name all the different “Dogmeats” have each one isn’t even the same breed they always go for a new one, the first dogmeat died in Mariposa, than Fallout 3s one just is still with the Lone Wanderer I guess and the Fallout 4s one is probably a synth
I love how Michael Emerson is just typecasted as the nerd in every show he's in lol (this is a good thing, dude is a PHENOMENAL actor and everything he's in is a joy to watch)
Dogmeat isnt a dog. It is the animals spirit. The dogs meet someone special aka the fallout MC's. So basically when a dog meets an MC they become a dogmeat
I had a belgian malinois named dogmeat that passed away this weekend, seeing this shows dogmeat be a malinois makes me feel good. Kinda like hes not gone for me. I miss that guy
The fact that we got dogmeats origin story and explination for how theyre immortal made this show amazong to me. There is a lot of passion behind this show and not just fanfare.
@@P.Subaeruginosa sorry I just had to reread your comment to understand it and see how stupid it is. None of the dogmeats are immortal, and the experiments in the show take place way after most of the games.
@@WesternWaster-2299 don't the experiments take place after all the games? The show starts in 2296 and even if they started 8 years prior to the main part of the show its still after fo4. I don't remember if theres an actual date shown during the enclave scenes.
Calling him dogmeat is the equivalent of calling him fleabag. It’s not a name, but a term of endearment for a companion. Consistently calling them by their nickname eventually it will stick.
They also included the meme of "what has 4 legs and an arm, a happy malinois" when dogmeat was holding that arm at the area of where that knight got killed by the bear
Maybe all the various "Dogmeats" we meet in the games come from this Enclave breeding program. Could explain how they all live so long despite what we put them through 😂
You know, dogmeat is one of the most available food sources in the wasteland, so it's not that all the dogs are named dogmeat, it is just a bit of a dark joke
It's a reference to A Boy and His Dog. Vic calls Blood "Dogmeat" when he's mad at him. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-szdWp6epMSs.html
Yeah, that's the joke. Dogmeat is an available companion in all Fallout games. The joke is that you're using a source of food as a pet in a land of endless famine.
Not actually dogmeat. Thats just a name give to cx4 by cooper. Each dogmeat is already confirmed to not be the same one with the fo3s being a redhealer instead of a shepherd
You said nothing of value with the comment. There is no “actual” dog meat. All dogmeats are just named Dogmeat. That’s their name. They aren’t related but they are all dogmeat.
@tommywood2135 u just said what I said all I did was list the dogs actual name and listed how each dogmeat wasn't the same which us exactly what you said so great job also adding no value
I think they were all malinois. I saw a clip with the actor who played wilzig and he said there were 4 and they were all siblings or cousins or related to each other.
@@user-us5dr2qi2r there's NO "can only be one dogmeat" there's literally dogmeat in fallout 1, fallout 2 fallout 3 and fallout 4. Dogmeat is just a name for the dog that appears on Bethesda's fallout. There's no explanation why they keep naming it dogmeat, that's just the way it is.
If you play 76 there is an enclave quest line and they are interested in mutating the human body to be more advanced. You can even buy injection serums for the different mutations from them ingame and it shows how they do all sorts of awful experiments on people combined with different animals
Hes not hiding him. Just made him some personal space in his lab. Hes seen carrying CX through security check points. And CX is used on the generator treadmill from the Build a vault dlc
Interesting Easter egg: the show repeatedly refers to the city of Shady Sands being nuked in 2277 likely due to the writers or Bethesda believing the game Fallout: New Vegas takes place the same year as Fallout 3 thus making this date make sense. It’s referenced both by being Lucy’s mothers death date that is known to every dweller of her vault as well as written and circled on a chalk board. Shady Sands is also moved 200 miles to the south west to Los Angeles in the show in relation to its game location, interesting Easter eggs. These writers reeeallly know their fallout
My current running theory is that the Dogmeat(s) we encounter throughout the games are actually all created by the Enclave. To serve what purpose idk yet but conveniently Dogmeat always ends up with the main hero/protagonist and is usually essential to the journey (FO4 hes required for tracking in the main story and in the show she is constantly wherever the head/chip is up until the finale of the season, where she then goes to follow Coop/The Ghoul and Lucy.)
There is 4 dogmeats. One for each game. There was 1 in fallout one (he survived to the end with me) fallout 2 dogmeat (fucking electrical doors from enclave base got him before cause i walked through one and dogmeat couldnt take the hit rip) 3 is immortal and 4 is immortal so
I like the fact that it's Cooper who called Four "Dogmeat." We see in his house he acted in a movie called "A Man and His Dog," a parody of "A Boy and His Dog." Cooper's actual pet dog acted in that movie with him. In A Boy and His Dog, the dog is nicknamed "Dogmeat." Cooper calling Four "Dogmeat" just kind of acknowledged everything.
