We had a dogue de bordeaux, unfortunately she recently passed away. She was the best dog I’ve ever had, very loyal and loving. Our dog would come over to comfort me if I was sad and she would also growl at anybody if they came in the back gate, very protective. I miss our dog she was a great friend.
Got a Dogue de Bordeaux my self and I agree with all that this lady says. The are kind, lovable and friendly dogs. I could not have asked for a better dog and companion. She fits my lifestyle and at the same time she gets me out of the chair for my daily exercise.
Didn't do that good of a job now did they? :D Anyways, these french mastiffs are adorable, and I would love to have one. Plenty experience with bull mastiffs and dogs overall, but I'm pretty sure I'd get these dogues under my control. That's provided I could give him enough pets, but I am sure I could provide. I can see how mastiffs are good therapy dogs though. Brought my bullmastiff to an old folks home, and she would literally sit on their feet, and the elders would brighten up and call her by the name of whatever dog they had before dementia and all that got to them. I'd say it's pretty much perfect for that type of work. They're patient, not skittish and LOVE humans. You can leave your kids alone at home with these dogs, they will literally make sure that the kids are all right. Mastiffs of mostly any breeds are nanny dogs.
I have one. She's on point with all her opinions and observations. This a great breed. Temperament, intelligence, loyalty and just a tremendous all around breed. So happy to have found this breed. Highly recommend getting one. Only negatives - they drool - ALOT! And the one that hurts most- they have a short life span.
This description of dog of bordeaux is really true. I had a female dogue of bordeaux during 3 years, she died of cancer yesterday and our family are crying so much. Our life is changed forever, this breed is incredible. Your dog is so beautifull. nice video
I used to own one. Your boy is beautiful. Ours had the exact same type of personality. Very laid back but protective as hell of his territory & his people. Scared the hell outa the meter reader one day. Literally took off running. I miss my pup. Give anything to have another. Your so, so lucky !!!
You are right about this dog on every level. These are absolutely the BEST dogs!! Mine, if there was any question, would place himself inbetween everytime. He also was a therapy dog.
Sucks!!!!! But we know it when we get them. We just got a new dog. We had a mastiff mix rescue pass like 3 years ago. He was as near to perfect as one could ask for, so replacing him smh...was just too much to even imagine.
Love this!! I’m looking into getting one. My favorite dog hands down! I do have a request can you do a video about the benefits of raw food diet. Please.
Jasmine McAfee Very good to raw feed them. I had a doguin de bordeaux (leaner one) and if I only knew about raw I could have prevented his kidney problem that he developed later on. Apparently kibbles contain salt and other bad stuff.
I feed mine Orijen mixed with Acana large breed kibble no fillers or rubbish in it.Thought about raw diet but have concerns on safety of it these days.
Beniya K thats why i feed mine Orijen and Acana check the ingredients absolutely no junk!So much antibiotics and steriods in meat just do not trust to feed it raw.
@@Sharon-lj8kb that is a lame excuse to not feed raw. There are PLENTY of raw meat farm sources that do bo antibiotics or steroids. PLENTY. Where do you think Kibbles is getting the meat base for their product??????
Steven T. He was only 5. He died from bladder cancer. He was sweet right to the end. The vet didn’t even have to sedate him to run his catheter. He had his head on my lap wagging his tail until he drew a big breath, exhaled slowly and that was it.
idk what I would do without my dogue DE Bordeaux. She is the best dog in all aspects for me and my life style. Except for the drooling lol. They are such a beautiful odd looking creature. The most unique dog I've seen by far. They have huge hearts, very loving but protective. I really don't know what I would do if I lost her! She's been such a huge part of my life, she's entered my life in the hardest most darkest times the last few years so she definitely hold a piece of my heart 😙💓😙💓😍 I don't ever see my self not having this breed, but then again Ella is probably the most unique dog I will ever have! 💓💓💓 Thank you for this video!!!!😊💓
I just lost my best mate clifford. He was the best dog i have ever had. I too love the breed and will never buy any other. They are as you said perfect n every way. 🖒🖒
You should do the St. Bernard. They are used in so many other dogs and are magnificent looking dogs. SoCal has a lot of very good breeders too around your area
I'm very interested in the Dogue de Bordeaux. I'm just concerned about the overheating, since I'm looking for a breed that jogs with me every day, but also guard the house while I'm at work. It will be alone 8 hours a day, then I'm gonna take it jogging for an hour and then Netflix and chill. Is the Dogue de Bordeaux a good choice?
@@barrycgreenthanks for the tip! My old bullmastiff used to spend six to eight hours by himself everyday and he was just fine. He slept a lot during the day anyways. He was because more active after dawn after 4 pm due to the warm weather here in Brazil.
5:07 aaawwwww... so cute... a gorgeous dog, really mine is a mixed breed (english bulldog x black mask DDB), a bit smaller, but with a very similar conformation and pretty much same attitude she describes a playful goofball, a heavy drooler (but only when active or eating/drinking), very curious and active (despite overheating tendencies, which, by the way, are pretty much the standard for every molosses, even the healthier ones, and quite manageable with a few simple cares), but only for 5 mins at time, then he literally collapse on his back and demands belly rubs (essential for a better nap :P) and a big loving puppy with every person he meets, but balanced and delicate despite his size oh, and in my experience a DDB is constantly hungry for attentions and compliments and cuddles definitely a great breed ^___^
How are they with training? I know they are stubborn but are they little assholes(in a good way) or just give you the I'll do it when I feel like it look lol. I have never met one, but I want a best buddy and family protector.
My Dogue de Bordeaux was my best friend as well, so loyal, sweet, patient and adorably lazy. He passed last year with nine years old. I still miss him deeply. I have had Doberman and boxers, nice breeds, but my giant lion-like friend is unforgettable.
Thank you Iove my freencch Masstiif wha ta a beautiful loviing g dog best breed in my opinion he is my best friend thankypu for a truthful video on such a great breed
Rescue, rescue, rescue. Our DDB is a rescue and he's a sweet boy and adores my wife. Protective when he needs to be...which isn't often cuz he's enormous.
The first mastiffs were used as hunting and war dogs by the ancient britons, julius caesar mentions "the British widemouth dogs" in his journals and the legions then dispersed British mastiffs all over Europe and asia. The famous Roman war dog was actually British.
I've loved this breed for 20 plus years, it feels like the time to persue owning one. Anyone who is a reputed knowledgeable breeder or knows of one in the tri state are please send me a message, thanks so much
I would say yes for every thing about this dog BUT they do not live long at all even if you get one from a good breeder they live about ten years at the max but other than that there pretty great.
I thought they lived a longer or maybe i was just hoping, that is short but i would be willing to love one for as long as possuble, is the drooling excessive or just after drinking?
Mostly after drinking or when excited/playing, but yes, they do slobber and sling the drool amazing distances when they shake their heads. The boys are worse than the girls, and diet has a lot to do with it as well, but all in all it's a small price to pay for this amazing beast.
I believe it! i had a friends st bernard really do a drool number on my jeans she was horrified i didn't mind at all, a moist rag does wonders, thanks for taking the time to respomd
you can tell she loves her Douge and the breed, and she is right I got my first ddb 20 years ago and never had a different breed ever since.i live on my own and my Dogue loki 4 years old now loves kids even with not being around kids growing up, and I can say 100% they will protect you and your home loki has done this and won :) .For me defo the best breed hands down
Glad this video came out. I've been researching these dogs for a while now and have been trying to find reputable breeders. Only thing I have concerns with are its life expectancy.
You should do a few more German Shepherd videos. I have been wanting to learn more about them for a while, and no where else seems to have the information that ur videos do
He reminds me of a bullmastiff I had he was the mellowest most loving dog unfortunately he was supposed to be a hell's angel clubhouse dog but he wasn't mean enough so he just lingerd from backyard to backyard until the last year of his life at least I gave him that
Yes it is. It's a guard dog breed. But they are breeding the "guard" aspect out of the breed. Just like they did to the Great Dane, and are now doing to other breeds like the Dogo Argentino and the Cane Corso.
Because the guarding lines don't make for good show dogs. And those awards look good on the pedigree. So they are breeding to show. FCI is going to make guard breeds exctinct.
That's why the idea of bandogs is back, where breed don't matter, as long as the dog performs. That's why the Iditarod sled race now uses mixed race dogs. Dogs are beign breed to showrooms and losing it's function. And it's fucking sad.
No.today, french mastiff is not a workingdog.so heavy.now it's familly dog and excellent guard dog.not agressif dog but dissuasive dog. Before a guard dog,it's a war dog.he come with asian warrior.after it's hunt dog (3 types) for boar.Gaston febus Say "this dog hold its bite more like 3 Greyhound ". After it was a fight dog, with bear and bull etc... And he start guard work with butcher.he guard cow. He was a warrior friend in first wold war like pittbull for us warrior and he help to carrie the wounded. This breed have suffer since the ww1 and ww2.same napolitan mastiff.dog was kill. For no consanguinity.bullmastiff blood was introduce in this breed.(black mask).(argentine mastiff have french mastiff blood too but its for the jaws and teeth).if think it's THE french mastiff particularity, his teeth is more like a jaguar teeth than a dog teeth.it's scary. Don't do this dog aggressive.it's too dangerous.in France this dog is forbidden for bit word/guard work.so heavy and dangerous.work is limited, not like a belgium shepherd, and is teeth destroy protection.its dog can really kill a men. In italia, police try this breed.they stopped.the dog litteraly destroy suspect and the dog was impossible to stop.mastiff is not sherpherd.when he's go,HE ´S GO ! I agree with you to say breeders weaken the breed when don't work other than the ring.but today people want 180 ibs pittbull.lol.why not 180 ibs poodle. For me 180 ibs french mastiff is so heavy, and kill the breed.180 ibs french mastiff die at 6-7 year old :( it's bullshit. This dog must weight 160 ibs maximum,no more. This dog don't have really to fight.he bit once....and kill the game.
