Hi Robert, thank you for your useful videos, they have helped me in my ownership of my Volvo so much, right now I’m having a crank no start issue on my 1999 v70 XC, it has a new fuel pump, fuel filter, spark plugs, and it had a check engine light for a P 1171, so I just replaced the O2 sensors and mass airflow sensor and still nothing, any advice?

Seems like a fuel pump relay issue to me. Something to check on. Maybe try jumping the relay and see if it starts.

@@Grafyte would the fuel pump even cut on if the relay was bad? Update: had a spare fuel pump relay laying around, threw it in and it is no different

@@Vulcan-xs9gy Ah, I'm not sure then. Crank no start is almost always fuel related, but it could be ignition related. It's not difficult to check fuel pressure on a P80, maybe go that route. If it stays over 48 psi while it cranks, it's just about guaranteed ignition related.

hey robert i'm looking for some advice. So i have a 1998 volvo s70 glt and recently i checked the oil dip stick and noticed the oil was white milky. This combined with the fact that ive always had a coolant leak in the car has got me thinking that the coolant is leaking into the engine oil. I think this would be due to a blown head gasket which is what i hope it is since i could fix that myself for not too much money but i don't know if it's a more serious problem like a cracked head that wouldn't be worth fixing so what im wondering is what are the odds this is a blown head gasket and what tests could i do to be sure this is what it is before i tear into the whole thing? Thanks in advance👍

Ill just chime in, I think you can assume if the car was never seriously overheated that the block and head arnt cracked. If you pull he head you may be able to see where the coolant was leaking into the oil return holes. It wouldn't be the oil pressure holes since the oil is a higher pressure than the radiator.which would result in oil in the coolant. You could change the oil and add two tablets of ac telco 10-108 cool system sealer in the radiator. its just wheat chaff but works miracles and doesn't clog up the radiator. Its a minor leak so will probably work.

Hi Robert, I am looking for advice about blower motor resistors. I'm searching for part number 9134933 to suit a RHD 850R with ECC. These are discounted but the LHD suitable pn 9134932 is available. Can a 32 be made to function by extending the wiring and relocating the resistor? Thanks in advance

I have no idea. I just about despise right hand drive vehicles in the US. I guess it's worth a try and see how it works out.
