Hello, and welcome to my channel. This is a space for study enthusiasts and tea drinkers, and those who spend hours ambling around libraries and book shops. I hope that my videos can provide motivation and encourage you to be productive, but without feeding into Hustle Culture. I think that productivity is all about enjoying what we do, and finding time for things that bring us happiness or will bring us happiness in the future -- and I hope to celebrate this kind of living on my channel.

The nub of the argument for getting ahead on work is right there at the end: it frees up more time in subsequent periods that you can use to work on other projects, or revise for examinations, or rest and relax! It's not something that should be done all the time, lest you burn to yourself out, but it is worth doing occasionally when the overall workload seems relative light. Anticipating being snowed under means that you won't be snowed in, to coin a phrase!

Ruby if you ever get a chance, I'd love to hear more about how you annotate things like critical essays! I have a lot more readings than I usually do this semester and I feel like I tend to either spend way more time than necessary on them, or don't end up retaining enough haha

I discovered Ruby's channel last year during 2020 lockdown and I was in last year of my MBA. It found the videos really motivating and aesthetically beautiful, with sweet voice of Ruby. Currently, I'm working in a company and not studying but still watch her videos because of Ruby's voice and her how wonderfully she presents herself. I have literally no idea about the Literature degree in the UK, as I am an Indian. But I still love to watch her videos. Keep inspiring your viewers Ruby! Much love and respect from India :)

University starts for me again on Monday and I am absolutely terrified because this will be my first semester where I actually have to go in person thanks to corona. Binge watching your videos to fight my anxiety, they are always really calming and help me relax :) anyways if anyone has any ideas on how to fight social anxiety and general anxiety regarding university let me know lol

Hi Ruby 😊 I started watching your videos in the Summer when they popped up on my RU-vid feed, prob because I was watching Exeter Uni videos. I’m a mature student and have just started my first yr doing psychology. I’ve lived in Exeter for 19 yrs but some of the footage in this video is a few streets away from where I live. 😁 So weird to see such familiar roads on RU-vid. Lol. Hi Tiyashi, I'm so so sorry to hear this. I know how awful it is -- it's genuinely heartbreaking and I don't want to lessen that or pretend that it's not important, because it is. I'd encourage you to feel that grief. If you can feel it now, you will be able to come to terms with it and move on 💕 remember, there is always hope x

Hi Tiyasha and Caroline, I'm sorry you're having a tough time. I teach at uni and have some tips which have helped students in the past - maybe they'll help you, too. If you want to get things done but feel overwhelmed, a good idea might be to set yourselves a timer. Not too long, maybe 30 or 45 minutes (or shorter, if you feel that would be helpful!). Try to work only on whatever you need to do while the timer is running; no RU-vid, no emails. Remember, you only have to stick with it for these 30 or 45 or however many minutes, and then you can do something fun. You officially have permission. But try to do at least the one segment of work/study. Even if you don't do anything else "productive" that day, you will have done something, and something is always better than nothing. Over time, maybe increase your work/study time to two segments a day, then three, and so forth, but take care not to overwhelm yourselves. And do remember to take breaks! They are not a luxury, they are essential to your wellbeing. But you will feel better if you get back into the swing of things, even if it's only 30 minutes a day at the beginning. Good luck, and take care of yourselves!

Hi, Ruby! I was wondering if you could give me some tips on how to take notes more efficiently. I spend a lot, i mean A LOT of time reading a difficult textbook because i want to understand everything very well and each information from the textbook seems so important to me. So i end up noting every information down and this takes forever. if you have any tips or videos on how to be more edficient regarding this aspect, they are very welcome!

One tip I have when you're needing to take lots of notes, is to use the dictate function on Word or wherever you take your notes. Saying them is a lot faster than typing them and means you don't have to break your flow as much!

Quote banks! They were amazing for me at gcse-like most key themes. Also look at the mark scheme and structure your notes in a Simialr way. For me with gcse the hardest was writing under time restraints- so practice essay plans also help.
