In my opinion… I think this is her best and underrated album. In my opinion again!! But honestly I loved this album. She really responded to all the hate, rumors and everything. I honestly think all the fame planet her got (her worst) should be going to scarlet. Scarlet is overall better than planet her in many MANY ways.

i think you should really dive into rap as a genre and learn to respect it a bit more. the things you found distasteful in the first half of the album have a really complex history and culture, and i feel like you lack the knowledge to appreciate the music fully. i don't know the way you spoke about it really rubbed me the wrong way. do as you will lol

Doja said Attention, Paint The Town Red and Demons were the first songs she had recorded for the album. She also said the album was recorded in two different periods, that is why the 1st half sounds different from the 2nd half of the album.

something about wym freestyle which I thought was cool was that it was an actual freestyle. All one take. The sound after she talks about her jewelry is her shaking her bracelets and they broke and fell everywhere. She kept it bc it sounded cool. And it’s like “okay we slowed down the track but now it’s like “time” to restart the album bc it picks up

I have thoughts and this is going to end up really long. I think you definitely hit the nail on the head with the album being split into two halves, with the second half starting with Agora Hills (my favorite song on the album lol). The first half is a lot of "I don't really care what you think, I'll do what I want," then Agora Hills, Can't Wait, and Often are about her love life (lol), and Love Life, Skull and Bones, Attention, and Balut steer back and kind of hit a middle ground that addresses a lot of things from the first half with a bit more depth. I personally think WYM Freestyle is mostly there to be like "but don't you forget, I'm still a bad b*tch and I will serve a bop." Concerning its length, I do agree that it's a bit long and most of the substance (lyrically) is in the second half, but I do also quite like the vibes of the first half, so I don't know what I'd get rid of lol. That said, she actually (presumably) added two of the songs last minute (Shutcho and WYM Freestyle), when she originally revealed the tracklist at the beginning of September, it was 15 tracks, with Balut being the closer. I kinda liked the fact that she dropped the first two and last two tracks (at the time) before the album (Attention, Paint the Town Red, Demons, Balut, in that order). I feel like this album was definitely born out of her just being tired of pop stardom and wanting to branch out musically. I'd say that Love Life and Skull and Bones make up a lot of what I'd call the "mission statement" for this album. It kind of exists to set the record straight concerning a lot of things people have said about her over the past couple of years. It is quite different for her, but I always found it interesting how few people considered her a rapper when she's been doing it for like... ever (even on her poppier stuff, I actually credit her for helping me appreciate rap more because I'm usually more of a pop guy). In terms of her past music, I think Gun and Go Off sound the most like her past stuff (Planet Her, the album before this, especially), but a few songs on the back half remind me of her first EP and album sonically and rhythmically (Balut especially). Overall, while I think it's probably my least favorite album of hers overall, it's still very good (I like most, if not all of her music), and can recognize it as probably her most artistic project overall (in terms of the album's flow and message). While a lot of her albums feel like (VERY good) collections of songs, this tracklist feels very considered in comparison. Either way, I agree that the personality that shines through in both her singing and rapping is one of her biggest strengths, and she's so versatile with both too, I think Agora Hills shows this off really well (she uses, like, 4 different voices in that song alone). Anyway, with all that said, my personal top 5: 1. Agora Hills 2. Ouchies 3. Wet Vagina 4. Paint the Town Red 5. WYM Freestyle (I don't know why I enjoyed this so much, but I did) Thanks for the video 🙂

I feel like you would love seeing her live performances of Agora hills! And maybe paint the town red (she actually is really good in real life and sounds the same like the songs but with more personality or adds more to the songs). Bruh I find shutcho to be funny because if you haven't noticed Doja is a bit of a troll and it also a goofy person in a way (and I mean all of this in a good way btw)

I have so much respect for Doja as a person and an artist. She really took back full control of her career. She never wanted to make pop music, but she was forced to under her previous contract. She intentionally alienated the people who participate in "stan culture", which is most pop music fans these days. In my opinion, this is her best album and it's criminally underrated. The listen counts on the songs on this album are pretty depressing The pop-y songs have 50x the listens than the rap songs. I think her fan base is still too young to understand what she's doing right now. Many of them just don't have the musical knowledge to understand the influences she's pulling from, and the kind of nostalgia she's trying to bring with this album. There are also some really genius bars, but sometimes you have to think about them a bit to catch them. Many of them flew right over my head the first few listens. I think the beginning of the album was Doja proving that she can rap because so many people seem to genuinely not know that she raps. The beats are simple because the focus is on her flow and bars.

When are you going to react to From the Choirgirl Hotel, To Venus and Back, and Scarlet's Walk by Tori Amos please? Don't let Boys for Pele put you off; she follows it up with three much more accessible original records.

i can only listen up to three songs at a time before my mind goes numb and lose brain activity so i’m back. the last couple song included agora hills which i 😂respond to just the name and a term called agoraphobic 😅 i really like tge intro but as soon as we get to see her again as a teenybopper i get really turned off. she’s nearly 30 now. leave childish things behind moving forward one could only hope for her. she really behaves like a juvenile and he lyrics sound like something i wrote when i was a teenager. i grew up on heavy metal and punk rock which is also extreme similarly to rap. i’m just not jamming with her but i will continue watching your take in college we call it a critique and it’s part of the industry so she can’t have a problem it’s built in😊

she’s too into her own head and she publishes it. not everyone wants to feel the way she feels it’s really selfish she loves love what her fans are paying for her only to be pooped on these songs are not up lifting. yeah it’s interesting how different people experience life and the crap the media try to take over your thoughts. i’m not sold on this album. i wouldn’t buy it just like i wouldn’t buy a ouija by doja 🏄‍♀️ board. she needs to sit with herself and slow down. be single it’s not so bad. your fans arnt going to pay for your therapy bills

i like that sheer excitement ing with the jazz part i think she already have some experience there in that catalog but she don’t need to put all these songs in one album it’s like two albums smashed together it has no focus to it imho. she’s having a struggle focusing. i hope she doesn’t love her passion for music but she’s not coming across as she used to do that was pretty chill and fun. she’s not writing for her fans she’s writing for herself and i have made art only for myself and then that was that. you need to remember you have an duty as a artist to behave oneself around your co workers and especially the fans. she’s coming off as insecure mentioning nicki she would have been 💯 had she left nicki out of it
