@@OkumuraRyuk HOpefully not, BDO is pay to win and Korean developers are notorious for pay to win features in MMOs. Just release it as a multiplayer open world game.
@@GorillaEats777 I don’t think Pokémon will ever look like that because Nintendo use their own engine… but maybe if Pokémon looked like Mario Odyssey even that would be better lol
It's a Korean culture . If u go to the mountain or some famous place . It will be there . U have to pick a rock and stack it on top of other rock that already stacked and make a wish .
Highly unlikely after seeing how you can use mounts and skates cycles etc and knowing pb they wont make instant fast travel similar bdo , so highly unlikely
I really thought Sunset Overdrive would be appreciated and remembered way more than it is these days. That and Chu Chu Rocket, if anyone even remembers that.
And something Playstation users can get their hands on! Pretty stoked! Always loved the way Sunset Overdrive looked. Never got a chance to play due to being on Playstation
I am actually pretty pumped for this. Hope the gameplay loop is good and diverse enough to attract different gamers. Looks like something I can play with my niece.

You read my mind. I would like to get my nieces and nephew hooked on games like I was when I was growing up and hopefully this is something I can show the oldest one at some point. Kinda hard when you only see them for a few hours a week, though.
Dokkaebi (도깨비) are legendary creatures from Korean mythology and folklore. Dokkaebi, also known as "Korean goblins", are nature deities or spirits possessing extraordinary powers and abilities that are used to interact with humans, at times playing tricks on them and at times helping them. Legends describe different dokkaebi in many forms.
Given that capturing monsters revolves around doing actions to befriend them I am guessing the extra little activities like releasing a paper lantern or the hammering the post thing are either part of quests to get new creatures or like little "collectible" things you can do in the open world.
Dev put lots of korea traditional things like paper lantern, wooden bird shaped post, kite and the wooden post called '솟대(sot da)' which is guardian of a town. It's usually placed at entrance of a town. And when boy release paper lantern he is wearing korean king's costume
This is the first game I've been hyped for in a long time. I'm old lol and games havn't delivered on promises in quite some time (RIP Cyberpunk). Hope this is as fun to play as it is watching when it comes out, Fingers crossed.
Definitely won’t be Gamefreak lol they can do the bare minimum and even lower the bar from past generations by taking away features and it will still sell like hot cakes and message boards across the internet will be full of people that still buy it just because of the Pokémon IP
Pearl Abyss always do great stuff : Continent of the Ninth, Black Desert Online and now this. When their game came up, they always were ahead of others games when it comes to graphics and combats
I don't know if this is my type of game, but it is very refreshing to see a bright near-futuristic world that is clean and isn't dystopic. I want to explore this game world! Out of the the many games revealed and released recently, not many has this amount of focus on fun and joy.
This is looking to be a day one purchase for me. Been wanting to play a city-wide open world game with my younger sister, and this is looking to be really amazing
@@Emerald_Knight45 I 'unno, Pokemon's pretty popular, and it seems like this will be a more graphically amp'd up, action packed slice of that monster collecting fun. With like, a bunch of ways to explore the massive sprawling world, and that's before getting to the customization. I think it's gonna net a lot of folks burnt-out on Pokemon or looking for something similar but new.
Apparently the devs said they will push forward the release date by six months if everyone in the world promises to never use the word "y'all" in a sentence again.
I haven't seen a thing about this game till now. But I'm excited, if the gameplay is halfway decent and the graphics are close to the same as seen, I will be a happy little anime kid.
U can tell they get in on the activity, your character always has a backpack on, in the trailer you see your character in front of the kids playing in the park. The rock stack gives a fast travel point vibe
Crimson Desert is also not an MMO if you've heard of it! Seems to be a similar situation as this one, where it started development as an MMO and they redirected later on.
@@konpeitosama arpgs tend to be better fleshed out games than mmorpgs, plus itll still have multiplayer elements. single player games are where its at honestly.
I like this style of development. Build with future tools for years so by the time the game releases it will run smooth on newer technology. Vs building for years on normal tech then by the time the game releases it looks outdated.
The scene of stacking rocks, flying a kite and putting a bird statue are Korean traditional culture to wish for luck. Those are related to Dokebi(Kinds of traditional monsters). I guess it could be a buffs in gameplay.
I would pay stupid money for a pokemon game that looks like this. But I won't drop another nickel for the half ass games that Nintendo is content with putting out. I really wish they'd just give the fans what they want.
Dokkaebi (DokeV) is how you say “Goblin” in Korean and these goblins are said to have powers and abilities to interact with humans. seeing as Pearl Abyss is a korean dev, checks out. super interested in this!!
Agreed. Is it single player, or coop (or coop only in specific scenarios?)? Is it about capturing/collecting the creatures, or is it about befriending them? Are the graphics some crazy new next gen tech, or are they just polished and saturated BDO graphics? Is the world mostly confined to this city, or is this city just a small part of the world (is it even all one city?)? Do the creatures have different stats/moves, or are they fixed to the story, so you only get specific ones? Is this going to be a game I pickup and play over and over, or is it going to be the standard "finish and dump"? Lots of little things that either semi contradict themselves, or just aren't available as info yet.
Great video! Im super interested in this game. Honestly, it looks too good to be true. Im very curious to see the framerate/what it can run on. Also, I wanna see the HUD and menus. Looks so fun though
Honestly this game has me more excited than any other. I've been gaming for many, many years, and while I enjoy my BR, FPS, and some RPGs the same old stuff doesn't peak my interest as much as something new and fresh. This looks new and fresh. It has a very kid friendly look to it, but the mechanics still look like any other great adventure game. This is something I don't mind as I can actually play this with my kids or at least while they are in the room. Most of my more adult themed games are just too graphic to play in front of them.
I'm excited for this. Looks creative and like they are trying something different, even if it is just visually. I applaud the apparent risk.... It's the same reason why people are excited to see where it goes and talking about it so much.
It's so my type of game. It's wacky, wild, cute and over the top. I already love it. And yeah, I can see that the game having some sort of co-op element in it. Maybe something like Monster Hunter World or Genshin Impact. Maybe.
I'm excited for the game so much :) Nice video but it's a Alpaca not a llama just pointing it out there it's a difference so many makes that mistake but keep up the good work :)
Super hyped. Maybe the Dokebi have class types of some sort, the pink Dokebi seems like he could be an engineer type with the kick bomb and confetti bombs. The bucket full of somewhat miscellanious items could represent a Mcguiver'esq personality? Looking forward to finding out!
Wow, this game looks really cool and refreshing, I hope the world is as interesting as it looks and also hoping it's fully online, not just Co-op but it's fine if it's not
Really reminds me of the FF15 demo where you ran around as kid Noctis. Which remind me off the KH Alice levels. Really similar with the child like weapons and the particle effects. Excited to see more!
I get more Yo kai Watch vibe than Digimon & Pokemon vibes. Yo Kai Watch was a popular game in Japan & Have an Anime. Yo kais are ghosts or spirits you befriend. You can increase your chances of befriend them by giving them their favorites foods or have a popular Ko kai in your team. It's the same concept of befriending instead of catching them. Yo kais are from Japanese mythology, but there's a Korean version in mythology called "Gwishin". Gwishin (귀신) are spirits that have not fulfilled their life's purpose and are cursed to roam the earth as a result.
Right? I dont know why but it looks almost cheap to me. Like the character designs remind me of the bland generic bullshit from balan wonderland. This reminds me of like a korean mobile game except its actually got decent graphics and everything… i dont know if i trust it tho
5:10 looks like about 15 to 20 fps hopefully gameplay isnt like that (edit : i know no one said anything but im not talking trash just hope a nice looking game like this runs smooth)
I really hope this is just for the Xbox series X, PS5 and PC. We really need to see some next gen games take advantage of the hardware, and I think a game like this would do that...if done right. Great video. 👍🏾
Based around the description of the "capture" mechanic i get the sense that if you're expecting anything remotely close to pokemon you're wrong. I'm typically pretty great at picking up what to expect from games and if they're good or bad so it might be worth listening to what I think, just trying to make it known that I have a history of accurate guesses so the chances I'm right are higher than average lol. I feel like he's suggesting that you can meet various Dokebis in the world but as pretty independent spirit creatures with humanoid thoughts and desires not like Pokemon where they are basically animals that are either wild or tame. So I don't expect you to fight them all but more like you can meet them out and about as npc's and if you are interested in them as an ally you can work to befriend them and following that clue I suspect that it's not something you are expected to do each time you see a new one but something where you chose to befriend those few you like the most. So the gameplay is probably designed way differently than Pokemon and aren't really about a bunch of rock paper scissors advantages and disadvantages but more of a real time action style of combat like Devil May Cry or Bayonetta where you string togheter your moves with your current Dokebi without a heavy reliance on a specific type of Dokebi for every type of enemy but instead it's like tag team partners who complete your moveset in fights and you can improve them to your preferences with their available moves and such but also in raw numbers. This is my idea of what to expect until I'm proven wrong with additional marketing materials or when the game comes out... And I kinda dig it tbh in place of something very similar to pokemon in it's overall design direction when it comes to "monster collection".
A little note on some of the culture on display here: this is South Korea, through and through, which, imo, is a nice breath of fresh air from Japan's usual dominance in this arena. From the title, which sounds like Dokebi, meaning 'goblin' in Korean, to the cultural elements, like the hanko style houses, post things the one charater hammers into the ground (called 'jindobaegi') and rock stacking, to the urban achitecture and even the kpop intro music. I am super excited to play through aspects of asian culture not typically found in gaming.
