Manny! Happy to see the stands got to you so quickly ☺️. I didn’t know I was one of the first doll friends you made but I do know how happy I am that we’ve been able to connect over the year and a half 🫶🏼. I appreciate the support more than you could imagine and happy the Stand Tall has fit in so nicely with your beautifully curated collection. 💜 **The rubber tabs are in fact optional and are added to give collectors the option to use them should they want to add more of a grip to the bases + prevent scratching! The MV stands for my initials and is spaced with a “|” but do see how it can read as a one. 😅 XX Mick
Thanks for taking the time to mention the importance of creativity with the doll hobby. I'm not a fan of this whole FOMO/mass consuming trend that I see in various doll communities. I'm a super picky person as it is so I try to curate as much as I can. And I think the best way to fight off that feeling of boredom and wanting something new is to redress them or get crafty like MyFroggyStuff who has done some interesting projects.
Looove the Coach bag, looks super cute on you with that sweater on. 💟 I have my 'Stand Tall' stands still in box, need to get around to put my 90s Collector Barbies on them. Mattel Saddle Stands that came with them from that time are awful, all the dolls just wobble and float around mid air. 😆
I would often use wig double sided tape to attach an earring to my dolls if needed because it is gentle to the plastic but sturdy to manage a stud earpiece or beads
Hello from Connecticut, I just discovered your channel and I think it’s awesome! I too am a collector of Barbie dolls. I played with Barbies as a kid from about the late 70s until the early 80s. Unfortunately, I didn’t save them so I’m trying to repurchase some of them little by little. My favorites are Golden Dream Barbie, supersize Barbie, Hispanic Barbie and black Barbie. Although recently I have fallen in love with the holiday Barbies. I mean to me they look like models. I try to find them in thrift stores and I have a ball redressing them. I also do not like to clutter up my display shelves with too many dolls.
Hi! Welcome to the channel :). I love your list of favorites! I currently have Golden Dream and Black Barbie. I would love to own both a supersize and Hispanic Barbie. I have yet to find a hispanic barbie for a descent deal. I love thrifting too! Part of the joy for collecting is hunting for great deals.
I was not aware of your friend, I don't follow many doll accounts but I will check him out! I just saw your reply to me from like 5 days ago!!!! :S Maybe you can use jewel stickers as earrings on your Julia the kinda little girls use as earrings... And sorry not sorry but I have always thought vintage Midge is a bit of a booger so I for one am glad to see her frog face gone off the shelf!!!! I love Uniqlo clothes they're always great quality unlike most retailers like Zara or H&M, wait till you hear how Uniqlo is pronounced in Japanese it's hilarious in Spanish... XDDDD
Yes! I was thinking about stickers for earrings. I will have to try them out. 🤣 Poor Midge! I also think she looks a bit like a frog, but I love froggy faces! So cute. Uniqlo is definitely my go to for good quality basics. I get all my plain tshirts from them. I also have two vneck wool sweaters that I wear all the time in the winter. How do they pronounce it in japanese and spanish? My mom calls it Unico lol
Regarding individual and community creativity. Mattel is releasing many doll reproductions but not fashion pack reproductions. It seems fans could do very well recreating classic fashion packs or even better designing new vintage style fashions. I would love that.
Yes, I agree. Fashion packs would be great. Restyling your dolls with fashion packs is a great way to be creative without having to purchase another doll
I agree as well , I often take to Ebay looking for the vintage reproduction shoe pads ! They are sometimes rather expensive to what were when they were released but nonetheless I like that I can substitute these shoes without sacrificing my vintage versions ...
Manny that was awesome ! I ended up ordering 6 Stand Tall stands if you buy 5 you get the 6th one as a gift . Also I'm a massive fan of your RU-vid content . Your Christmas display looks great ! Happy Holidays to you & your family ! Be Hugged Matt Sky
I use to buy the metal stands $10 for a dozen. Now they are more like a dozen for over $30.The dream Date doll has a dress that is difficult to arrange.lol.Your right the stand helps! The black Barbie is the Diane cannon nurse doll from 68.Not a fan of icebreaker jacket with the sheath dress. Why not use the fur from Gay Parisian?
The dream date doll dress is very difficult to make look nice lol. That's a great suggestion! I don't have gay parisienne fur, but I will look into getting one. Maybe the repro since I am on a budget
Agree, in general the creative aspect is not valued much in 1/6. Here in Europe "handmade" is almost directly equivalent to "garbage" for many people 😋
Hello young man! - I’m Michael, a 56 year old man that still enjoy’s my Barbie’s and Barbie friends - 🤭🤗 My mom slipped me a P.J. One year at Christmas 🤗 She always knew I was special 🤗❤️ My Father was born in 1918 and usual feeling from a man that age seemed inevitable that their “son” 😊 should not be playing “Barbies’s ???? - my brother and Dad would go Hunting 😢, shooting rabbits and squirrel’s 😮 - I went one time and will never forget my prayers that no animal will be shot!! - I even pee’d on an electric Fence (thank God it wasn’t turned on!! 😅) When my “New and Groovey” P.J.’s legs fell off😢 - Dad spent “secret?” Time repairing her - 🤗 - Dad had zero knowledge of my plastic/rubber doll friends yet put forth unexpected effort in fixing her for me 😊. - He used metal nitsssnd bolts 😮!! - P.J’s legs were never the same and none of her dresses still fit 😢😮- but he tried 😊
Enjoyed this video. You have at least 3 Lilli’s! do you really trust your cat with a doll like her? My cats have shown no respect for my property. I love them but they are evil.
