This is what my mom called "dump cake" ! My MOM taught me how to bake this as a teenager and I'm 81 years old!

9x13 glass pan, 2 big cans sliced peaches,not drained, cinnamon to taste, & 1 pecan cake mix, butter..best ever peach " cobbler"

I made this exact recipe but with apple pie filling and apple cinnamon muffin mix and sprinkled white sugar on top......TURNED OUT FABULOUS!!!! Hubby ate the whole thing in one seating 😂

When I was young we use to make something like this with a twist. We used a 9x13 pan, a can of cherry pie filing along with a can of crushed pineapple. We layered it exactly like you did, with a full cake mix on top. We cut 2 sticks of butter into tbsp’s and latex them on top. Baked for 30 minutes, sprinkles chopped pecans on top and continues baking for 30 more minutes. Thank you for reminding me of my childhood! Keep making yummy things and there is always a need for dessert!

Wow, that looks great. How about 2(two) ingredient peanut butter fudge. You need one 16 can of vanilla frosting (any brand will do) and 1 16 jar of smooth peanut butter. Zap each in the microwave separately for 1 minute each and mix together in a bowl. line an 8"x8" pan with either foil or wax paper and using a soft spatula, scoop the mix into the lined pan and then put it in the frig for about 2 hour or until it sets cold. Either lift the fudge out or flip the pan upside down and then remove the paper and cut to serve. Cost 2 dollars and it taste like it cost 10. You can add things like rice crispies, use a chocolate frosting or make the peanut butter crunchy. Not trying to steal her thunder here, just trying to share a recipe that is easy and yummy.

Guys! Call it whatever you want!! 😂 It's cheap, easy, and yummy whether you call it cobbler or dump cake. Im gonna call it momma's broke and the kids want a treat-cake! Thanks for the video :)

Before these where called dump cakes, we called them war cakes. Made them during ww2 and korea. These are such an easy quick sweet to make. I have made them with different flavors of cake mix. Strawberry cake mix with strawberry filling was my husbands favorite. Let your imagination be your guide on this

My grandma used to make this when I was a kid in apple, blueberry,& cherry. Amazing that for the price of a king sized candy bar you still can.

My mom made it with Chocolate cake. She called it Chocolate covered Cherrie cobbler. We still make it to this day. So good !!

This is called a dump cake. I love them!! I also use a can of crushed pineapple and cherries then cover it with lemon cake. Awesome!!

I've made this since the 70's and it is a delicious recipe. The recipe back then was a box of Jiffy yellow cake mix and a can of any canned pie fruit with the butter. Such an easy and delicious recipe. We always put a scoop of vanilla ice cream on while it's warm. So good. Thanks for bringing this golden oldie back.

I use the Dollar Tree pans when I make this, saves on clean up lol!

My Kentucky-born MIL taught me to make this when I was 20 years old (I'm 67 now); Gladys changed the name--cobbler or cake--depending on the fruit she used, but no matter what, it was always GOOD!! I use real butter now, though, not liking the chemicals used in making margarine, and the butter makes a world of difference to this old woman :-)

My dad use to make this for us when I was a child. That was back in 1970. I am glad to see the recipe is still around. So simple and delicious.

I have used that cherry pie filling for the top of my cheesecake 😋 it is delicious and for a dollar ! Hell yeah 😎

i use to make this camping..Get a camping Dutch oven pot..Dig a hole enough to set Dutch oven in..Put 24 charcoal biscuits in the hole till the turn white..In Dutch oven 2 boxes of Jiffy cake mix..1 can of cherries pie filling..8 dabs of butter on top..12 charcoal biscuits in bottom of hole ..set Dutch oven in hole with lid on top..12 more charcoal biscuits on top of lid..cooks at 350 for 40 minutes..With home made Vanilla ice on top now your talking...Thanks for posting this nice to know i can make this at home.

I mix a stick of butter with cake mix- softened butter that’s been left out. Warning once you taste this you will not stop eating it till it’s gone - at least for me that’s what happens!

I put cream cheese between cherry pie And cake mix

Only thing missing is a scoop of ice cream!😍

I made this last weekend. It was super good! My sister and niece both asked for the recipe. I hated to give it because it was so simple. I had felt like a master chef until that big question but I relented and gave it up. To my great surprise, they were blown away by its simplicity. Thanx for making me a hero! You now have 2 more converts. 😜🍰 🍒

Now that fits all the rules for true cowboy cookin'. No more than four ingredients, cooks in less time that it takes to eat it and no mixing bowls to wash.

My mom used to make this classic "dump cake." Sometimes she added chopped nuts to the top. Thanks for sharing this sweet memory!

I found this video about 2 years ago and let me tell you it was such a blessing. I made a cherry cobbler to try out this method, my brothers loved it so much that now this is the only dessert they will eat. This is very similar to the recipe on the Jiffy brand cake mix box called Fruit Magic back in the 70's....I've been making it for years....I use 1 box of Jiffy cake mix, (yellow or white), and 1/2 stick of butter. I put the cake mix in a bowl and use a fork to mash in the butter so it's crumbly, pour it on the fruit and bake at 350 for 1 hour....delish....great with cherry pie filling, apple, peach, blueberry....anything works! Quick, easy and inexpensive...think I'll make one today!

My Mom made this in the sixties with Jiffy cake mix. I thought she created the recipe.

We used to make this kind of cobbler back in the 70s. We always used Jiffy cake mix. The box was so small that you used the whole thing. Not sure if Jiffy still has their cake mix. Always turned out great!

I have made this for years! 😋 My family's favorite! We have ALWAYS called it "Dump Cake". I have made a few changes though, I use a glass 9×13 pan or if you want to take it with you I've also used a disposable aluminum 9×13. I use the cherry pie filling, a can of crushed pineapple (large can. 16oz?) Dump the pie filling & undrained pineapple & just a bit of lemon juice. (I have made this w/o the lemon juice but I think it helps brighten up the flavor & cuts down the sweetness) I use the whole pkg. of cake mix then sprinkle it over the gently mixed pie filling, pineapple & lemon juice. I've used different flavors of cake mix like, white, yellow, butter & lemon or if you can find it cherry or pineapple. I don't melt the butter. I just cut pats of it right on top. Bake at 350° till bubbly & browned on top. If you'd like an extra crunch I like to sprinkle pecans on top for the last 10/15 mins. This is great if you serve warm with vanilla ice cream. Ohhh i have been making this recipe since my son was a little guy and daughter was 12 , hes 26 n shes 38 its quick and taste good . Only thing i do different is i also put small chunk pineapple with the cherry pie filling . I drain the pineapple really well though it s yummy.

These recipes are a great way to get kids in the kitchen, to start "cooking'. When I was in Girl Scouts in the 70's (now I feel old), we went camping a lot, and made this with white cake mix in a dutch oven. We called it "Cherries in the Snow" because of the white cake mix. It was sooo good.

You can sprinkle the cake a lot faster than using a spoon. Looks wonderful! God bless!

We used to mix the cake mix and margarine and then add on top of the fruit. My fav is blueberry. Looks yummy Southern Sassy.

Actually just dump any pie filling fruit into the cake mix and bake at 350 for 35 minutes. Outstanding. No need for butter. Very moist and delicious.

This is a great recipe and I've used it for years. Try different combinations like chocolate cake with the cherry pie filling or, for a nice fall version--apple pie filling with a box of spice cake mix. My favorite is blueberry pie filling with lemon cake mix.

Your recipe is different. I have not seen this one b4. Great idea. I have made a variation. Make the cake; cool. Then put either cool whip, then cherries on top. Or switch it with cool whip on top. More appealing with cherries on top. I made this & a blueberry cake for a speech class demo. Everyone went for the cherry. I got a A lol.

Great cobbler! And it is fast and easy. Just one thing..ALWAYS USE REAL BUTTER. Butter makes it go from pretty good to totally awesome!

I actually tried this and put butter and brown sugar on the bottom! ! It was a hit! Now this is not a healthy dessert at ALL! :) LOL but is great! I used the Apple filling. Hard to get a filling dessert that will feed around 6-8 people for $3 bucks. Thanks Sassy!

I just made a apple with red velvet cake and it’s really,really good. I bought a can of Dole pineapple with heavy syrup and I added red velvet cake to that. Tastes great. Thanks for the inspiration!

I have made this many times! Happy memories. It's nice to do this in the Autumn,with apple pie filling and spice cake mix. The possibilities are endless.

Take after you put the pie filling in pan. Put in a boul and add a whole pack of cream cheese and a half stick of butter plus, a half cup of sugar. Put this on top of canned pie filling. Then put cake on top and butter.

I love dump cakes! Fast and easy. You can use chocolate cake with cherries (take on black forest cake), spice cake with peaches or apples, lemon cake with pineapple etc and well the options are many. If you really want to jazz it up, sprinkle chopped nuts on top of butter before baking and top each serving with whipped cream. Any way you do it, they are yummy and easy! :)

I make this "cobbler" and it is delish! Got the recipe from my old school German coworker, Ms. Betty. Love it!

I bake mine at 400• for 45 min, I like that top layer to be a nice crust. Pie looked beautiful, great job
