Always LOVED, LOVED, LOVED Randy Travis and his music. Very sorry to know of his serious health issues. Keep getting well, Randy!!! The world loves and misses you!!
@AlisaLuftwaffe♤777♤DashaV Brigades No. He has suffered severe and irreversible damage from the stroke he had in 2013. He will never be able to tour again.
I love Dolly Parton. I wish my father and I could meet her. She’s our cousin. My great uncle would give her and Randy and the other Parton children apples when they were kids. He said she would be wearing her coat of many colors that she sings about. She’s a beautiful, smart, and classy woman. It would be an honor to meet her.
Went a saw Clay Walker last friday nite 1-28-22, at Billy Bobs, about his 3rd or 4th song was a Randy Travis song. Then Randy came out on stage, he is in a wheelchair now, the crowd gave him a standing ovation and hats off as he did his best to wave at the fans. Still sad that this is where he is at now. Several months ago he was there at another concert, but he was able to still stand up to wave at the crowd. That night brought happiness and also tears to those who still love him..
This is back when the awards were REALLY worth watching and country was worth a damn. Not saying today's country is horrible...just not what it used to be :(
It’s because of the mainstream media and social media. What’s popular is degenerative. Being stupid, selfish, and a narcissist criminal is popular for some reason. It’s like a ghetto-culture take-over. Can’t even run from it anymore because it’s everywhere. 😔
Rosanne Cash, Patty Loveless, Kathy Mattea, Reba McEntire, Tanya Tucker, and Dolly Parton, Anne Murray, and Randy Travis are all great. There's never been a better time for the abundance of great singers as the late 80s because so many legends were still going strong and then there were established stars and then all the bright young talent.
THIS is REAL COUNTRY, KIDDIES !! Watch, listen, and LEARN ! Kathy...Dolly... Roseanne... Lorrie...Chapin...Reba...Patty... Trisha...Loretta...Patsy...Wynonna...Miranda...TALENT, TALENT, TALENT !
Wow, beautiful people, how I remembered it used to be. Yes, when it was still country, everyone looking their finest, respectful and dignified. This was entertainment!
First off, I really liked Anne Murray. We had her album which I think my Dad bought (which in retrospect is odd since he didn’t buy albums) and, I would listen to it over & over. It’s great seeing Randy Travis (and, Dolly) too. I’m 56 and I prefer “old” country from the 70’s & 80’s. Now. It’s more country pop music now to be able to cross over to a wider audience.
DioceseTemplar We have 3-4 Classic Country stations where I live, everyone around got tired of the new stuff and organzied and created some stations. One for the Big Hits from the 60's all the way through the 90's. Onefor lesser known songs of that same time period, One for songs older than the 60's. And One for Modern day songs that are ACTUAL country.
DioceseTemplar Keith Urban, Shania Twain, and Brooks and Dunn...and a lot of other Unworthys happened to it! That's what happened to country music. "Really Bad Pop In A Cowboy Hat" is what it was turned into. Country Music is dead...and they deliberately stole the name from us. And I resent it...very much. There was a Murder On Music Row...and for that, someone SHOULD hang!
Not Applicable I don't think Brooks and Dunn ruined anything, I mean, even George Strait said that they were one of the few country singers he listens to.
While watching this now in 2019 I was sure Ms.Reba had won until I heard the name Tanya Tucka they really surprised me! Yes I'm black but I'm try to my country music & will always be because I know COUNTRY FOLKS CAN SURVIVE!!!
I'm so glad I was around and tuned in when this music was playing on the radio. Luckily, there is a country music station in south Louisiana playing all the good stuff. The stuff they don't, I can find here on RU-vid!
Dolly: "I just wanted to come out here and make sure you didn't need me!" Randy: "...Uhh...Well, I might" You simply can't script something this funny. And as someone who was born around the time this was filmed, I have to say that Dolly Parton in her prime (mid-late 1970s) was probably one of the sexiest women to ever walk the face of this planet.
WOW....Where has GREAT country music gone to because it sure ain't here anymore ! I remember the night this happened and it makes me sad to think how so called country music is now. The only time I ever turn on the radio anymore is to listen to local news. If I want REAL country music I get out my cd's or get on youtube .
Wow, an awards show when people dresses UP! Suits, gowns, an attempt to dress up! No torn shirts, t-shirts, jeans, flannel....back when artists took care in how they presented themselves. Ahhhhh, those "good ol' days"
The world miss you RANDY TRAVIS so get well soon and get back to what you do best. Singing May GOD BLESS YOU RANDY TRAVIS GOD IS LOVE. And he loves you.
God bless Randy, do this long life that we live or short we All Fall a little short before a lot of us Randy was quite the hero and still is God bless him and his family amen
this was a time when country music was not yet corrupted by the ongoing pressure of rap and alternative rock and all that other nonsense. and the kids nowadays will never know what good music really was when society shoves this modern day sex and language era of hip country down their throats before they ever know anything else. its depressing just to think about it
+Lindsay Jackson What's more depressing is that you think we should all like the same music. We're all individuals and we each have our own preferences. What's good music to you is bad to somebody else and visa versa. Lot more important things to get depressed about hun.
+60toodles i never said we're supposed to all like the same thing. im saying its a shame what kids listen to nowadays, and none of them grasp any meaning of life anymore with senseless thumping pounding their heads in. it really doesn't even matter what people listen to, its either how you apply it to your life or how you refrain from letting it control you that matters
I remember Kathy Mattae, KT Oslin, Randy and Clint, gosh, I miss 1980s and 90s Country. Shenandoah. The Judd's, Cash, Crowell, etc.. So many great bands and artists. Families of country stars. So many great concerts with my sister.
I miss country music, this the country music I grew up on. Johnny Cash, Georg Jones, Tammy Wynette, Reba Mcentire, Georg Straight .. now country music not the same. It's all pop. Where the Twang and the Steel Guitar. I hate this generation and their music
I moved to Atlanta in 1987 from Chicago. All the girls told me I looked like Randy Travis back then. Being a city boy I never heard if him so I listened to his music now country music is by far my favorite.
While not a country music fan I still have a slight crush on Dolly Parton, and enjoy seeing any clips that come up in the media. She’s just so likeable!! Incredibly OTT, but that’s part of her charm.
If I had been old enough when Randy was old enough and he liked red heads.lol I do not know about big ideas, but I had big hopes in those days and his songs made me the sap I am today. Randy, Dolly, Reba, Anne Murry, Alabama, the oakridge boys, and Alison Krauss, cannot forget Ricky Skaggs, Kenny Rogers, Loretta Lynn, No show Jones, and so on .... I had such good clean, simple fun... I grew up in the wrong decade. I was a 40 year old in a 20 year old body.. Loved you all for making me who I am.
