Finally I can start showing you all my videos from the amazing Alps we visited last year! Here is a drone video captured on our DJI Mavic Pro of Pordoi Pass, a cinematic video of the Dolomites in the Italian Alps.
Starting with the breathtaking Dolomites, in Italy. We stopped in Cortina d'Ampezzo for 2 nights and explored with our car as much as possible. It was mid October, so there weren't many people around, which was amazing! It's a bit risky to visit the passes in October because there may be snow, but it was totally worth it.
Our first stop was Pordoi Pass which, as you can see in the video, is incredible and I totally recommend stopping here too.
Pordoi Pass is one of the highest paved mountain passes in the Dolomites, reaching an elevation of 2,239 meters (7,346 feet) above sea level. Its lofty position offers breathtaking panoramic views of the surrounding peaks and valleys.
The pass is famous for its series of hairpin turns, offering a thrilling and challenging driving experience. The winding road with its tight curves adds an element of excitement and adventure for motorists and motorcyclists navigating this iconic route.
Pordoi Pass holds historical significance, as it has been an important trade route since ancient times. It was utilized by traders and merchants traveling between the valleys and regions, contributing to the economic development of the area.
At Pordoi Pass, visitors can access the Pordoi Cable Car, known as the "Funivia del Pordoi." This cable car provides a unique opportunity to ascend further to the summit of Piz Boè, one of the highest peaks in the Dolomites, offering even more breathtaking views.
The Dolomites, including the Pordoi Pass, hold great geological importance. The mountains are composed of unique sedimentary rock formations called dolomite, named after the region. This geological uniqueness contributes to the stunning natural beauty and UNESCO World Heritage Site status of the Dolomites.
