Dom may not be as well-known as Joe, but his stats speak for themselves. Lets give Dom the regonoition he derserves for a career that might have landed him in the Hall of Fame if he didnt miss 3 years due to military service.
Until the arrival of Willie Mays and other great fielding African-American players, he may have been the best center fielder in baseball. I believe Joe said that Dom was the best center fielder he ever saw, but said that again about Willie Mays. But Dom's OPS is just average and his WAR a little above average. If his name weren't DiMaggio we might not be having this conversation.
his ops and war are well above average .an excellent defensive center fielder who is a good (not great) hitter is very valuable. he was no Mays and no Joe Dimaggio but he was a very good player, completely overshadowed by his brother.
@@howie9751 hardly anyone knows who vince dimaggio is. a lot of people know about Dom. He was actually better than a lot of people realize as some people do just assume he was merely Joe's brother. It's kind of weird- he is known to some very casual fans bc of his brother but also underrated because of this. Hardly anyone has heard of guys like Chris Gwynn or Tommie Aaron. Dom Dimaggio was a legitimately good player.
