Nice unit! I bet it has a nice price too. I bought myself a 100 quart Bodega back in January for the up coming season which would probable be half the price of an Iceco!
Lol! I did the same exact thing when my absorption refrigerator started giving me issues! I bought a 12 V change more refrigerator freezer chest. It runs on a 12V battery and solar! We love the darn thing! I use it at my house when I have parties instead of buying ice for beer. It works great! We travel in the car with it also and I always travel in the RV with it now!
Looks good guys, I may need such a thing. The only improvement I can see is a place to store the divider on the cooler. Otherwise it looks great. Keep the good stuff coming.
Thats a cool ( no pun intended) unit, looks very well made and user friendly. Shame on Dometic for not taking care of the issue, I was looking into their 12V fridge for a slightly larger direct replacement for our absorption refrigerator but I’m kinda have cold feet right now, lots of $$ for something that isn’t reliable after a year😟
Yeah we can't recommend the dometic 12v... Love the space but just not reliable. Since you have the solar maybe get a residential. Not sure if the other makes like furrion or everchill etc have the same issues or not.
I have had the IceCo cooler/freezer for a couple years now and I run it in the vehicle with my EcoFlow battery pack between the fridge and the car power port. That way while your driving the vehicle is charging/powering the battery and the fridge and when we park the battery keeps the fridge running all night long. Rinse and repeat on following days of travel. Easy peasy!
I like that Iceco , think i will get one for our big trip to the Pacific Coast / Canada. Our fridge/ freezer is 120 v , 18 cu ft Domestic and is great .
Past experience with an absorption refer like Dometic. We removed them and inverted (turned the upside down) for 48 hours then turned them over to normal configuration. Re-installed them in the rv and they worked for the next 4 years. By inverting them the refrigerant returned to the condensor ready to be reabsorbed for proper operation. You might try this and confirm if it works for your problem. I use to repair rv refers as part of my business.
First how is Piper doing? Second you should do a video on how long it stays cool/cold if it you lose power or take it out of the Jeep and just use it as cooler. (Provided you can stop playing with the latches and slow close top.😋)
Great idea on the cooler! We will see what we can do on that. Keeping it closed would be the hard part🤣 Piper is doing well, she's at week 5 of recovery so she's feeling good but she needs to keep calm a few more weeks until her x-ray follow up to see if she's healed or if she needs to keep contained a few more weeks
I haven't found with my fridge eco mode makes a huge difference on power consumption but it is easier on power station. I use mine everyday for work keeping cold drinks and snacks in it. They are fantastic mine is a 45 Vevor we got for 300 and it runs like a champ.
Darn, I'm so excited our next rv would have (and I wanted) a 12 volt fridge. I'm tired of the gas electric or gas/electric/12volt and their inherent problems. Then again, you got a 12v backup. I'm so confused, lol. Just take me by the hand and tell me what to do, I'm just a man ;)
I still like 12v over the absorption fridges, even with the problems. But if push comes to shove we will just put a residential fridge in the RV since we have the solar, battery and inverter for that now, if we go that route.
Also make sure you leave room for air around the compressor vents. And it should have a low voltage cutoff, for when your plugged into your cars DC circuit, it should cutoff at a predetermined voltage and not kill your jeeps battery. Check the manual. Mine has this feature.
Another use for ours is when we go to Disney and our room isn’t ready, we hand the cooler to bell service with our luggage and go to the parks. Because ours has its own 12V battery it will run a good 8 hours on low setting! My wife wants a smaller version for day trips. These things are awesome!
Now time to buy a new Rv with an outside storage compartment with a slide out unit to put it on. Add a toilet 🚽 next to and Lynn can enjoy her beers outside without having to go inside Rv 🤷🏻♂️😉😅😂
When we are driving and Jeep is getting towed the 12v outlet in the Jeep is occupied for the brake controller so we use the Bluetti and it lasts a long time without a charge on it so far
@@scootercowboy they gave us the discount code after we liked the fridge. We don't get anything from the discount if people buy it. We had been communicating via email about different models.
I like it a lot but when it comes to dollars and cents I’d just yank that 12 volt fridge out and replace it. Evidently your 12 fridge is on its way out at some point and outta warranty so I’d just bit the bullet and replace it. But hey! It’s your buck and your life! Press on.
We will probably eventually do that but for now we went this route because this portable one can be used for a lot more than just inside the RV which is nice too
She's doing well, she's been on multiple different meds to help keep her calm since/November/December. She's able to power through them quite easily, which the vet is well aware of haha but she is medicated everyday to attempt to help her stay calm and rest
We got a backup plan…Did you guys get the idea of the thumbnail and title from the Democrat party election victory plan⁉️🤦🏻♂️🤣🤣🤣. Mike looks like he’s carrying in a box of “just discovered” mail in ballots to be counted 🤣🤣🤣.
👋🏻34222☀️🌴🇺🇸 Labotts Blue . Need it in NA . Can’t get from anywhere south of Ohio . Know anyone heading this way send two cases in cans I’ll send $ lbs extra .
We were looking at buying this and they offered it to us. Definitely unbiased review.. We loved our Dometic fridge too up until the last 6 months and let that be well known when it stopped being reliable and something we'd recommend
Oh no!☹️ Sorry to hear that... We really hope ours lasts longer than that, because we got it too backup our fridge that stopped working (regularly) after a year
