For recessives, when I’m explaining it to people I always use the blue eyes in humans example. My husband and I both have hazel/brown eyes. My husband’s mom has blue eyes (recessive) and my dad had blue eyes. So, my husband and I are both het for blue eyes. We had 2 brown eyes children and one blue eyed child. So our brown eyed children have a chance of carrying the blue eyed het, but we won’t know unless they have children with someone who has blue eyes or is het for blue eyes. So yeah, when I’m explaining albino or pied... I go into that. People seem to understand better
Now that's Kool thank you for that . We have 4 boys and two have blue eyes and two brown I has red hair two brown and one blonde there mom has blonde mine is dishwater blonde . My dad's is red moms was black . Her mom is brown her dad's we don't know she doesn't know him . Also we have 4 boys all are legally blind hers are good mine is great eye site I mean . One brother is legally blind her sister great eyesite one brothers was great . Her Grandpa was legally blind so the boys on her side are het for bad eyes and the girls are not . It's only ever happened in the make side . And it seems to be rare to work like that crazy genetics are .
Great video mate. It can be very confusing. I remember over a year ago when I started researching I was like WTH 😂 awesome hobby though. Great job on the tubs behind you 😂😂😂 you had my utmost attention 😂🍺
Big fan here, really looking into becoming a breeder Can you do a video about which types of snakes not to breed because cause of disorders. And which snakes beginners should breed because they can get a good return on your money invested.
Here's a video about genetic defects: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-P8WHzEvRDkM.html Here's one about investing in the right snakes: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-xozyuhypBaM.html
How soon after snakes lay their eggs can they be ready to breed Again? I have several who laid in JULY and they have gained like 400 grams and look thick.
Yea, that's one of my old videos. Now I use OBS, check out my latest video with the screen recording: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-h5J6p0YizsM.html
if you download OBS it is free you can record your screen easy to set up then you can do the voice over during and after and it stops your auto focus problems when you are doing your genetics videos. :-) see you in the next video!
I just got my first wild type ball python which is also my first snake, I am thinking of studying to become a ball python breeder in 3-5 years, any advice??? I want to breed my wild type.
Thanks for the info! I’m thinking about breeding my Bamboo/Pinstripe/Spider with my Bamboo, and wondering if there’s any chance of a Leucistic? I see a Lot of different morph possibilities, but then like yours showed, there is a blank section and I’m wondering if maybe that’s the Leucistic probability
I got a little girl that was sold as a normal but she really CANT be I’m thinking. She doesn’t even have one alien head on her side and her top pattern changes halfway down her back and starts to look more reduced or almost like a enchi type pattern I think she’s a special normal or something I’m definitely going to breed her
So I am not sure about snakes, but in genetics, dominate traits (a phenotype in this case) does not cause the same effect as pairing two recessive genes would.
I used to breed gqmefowl and genetics can be overwhelming. In birds like chickens leg color and combs and so so much is genetic it's crazy . I did well but I know some friends who totally lost there pures from mixing them up . Like to refresh or test out some genes or strains using Grey's is great because the grey is domonet and you get Grey's until you breed it down out but I like genetics . But the snakes genetics nis very in-depth and confusing but I'll get it by watching you lol.
I actually made two strains . When I had to stop breeding them because our place sold and I couldn't find a place to keep them . I sold them to a guy I know who sent them to his old country . I sold 240 birds for 95 thousand . But it goes so fast when you have kids in college lol. That's another reason I sold them . But snakes and geckos take up a lot less room than chickens lol.
Are still these pythons with the genetic morphs and mutations proven to still have the same 30 year life expectancy of the non genetic or wild type ball pythons? Or is it still not yet proven because breeding these morphs is a fairly new practice ( last 25 years or so)?
Hey Chris, has pinstripe been reclassified as co-dominant now, since there does seem to be a super form, although currently only 2 listed on morphmarket. World of ball pythons calculator still shows no super but the calculator on morph market does show super form.
So when you mix genes each snake can only have three genes is that right . A visual co domonet has two copies of the same gene and a domonet has one copies of the same gene or does the domonet have two also . I think I'm getting it . Been up working a lot hours so my brain might not be working lol. Great video .
With a dominant gene you can't make a 'super' which has two copies of the same gene. The max for one gene is two copies but if you mix different genes together you can have a pretty much unlimited number of genes.
So if you breed a visaul pied to a het pied would you get half visauls and half hets or half normals or would it be all hets and have to breed them back to get visauls since it's recesive?? Sorry to bother you . I found a couple het females and am wondering how long until you would see visaul pieds if bred to a visaul male .
Weird thing I just thought of...Are human beings co-dom, rec, or dom? If you have two ppl of diff color you have some chances of like a white baby, black, Hispanic, mixed, etc. Just a funny thought I had when watching this. I have two mixed boys. The similarities between ball pythons and humans are interesting. We both come from Africa as well. AM I the only person thinking of these things?.. I also wonder what kind of gene a normal is?.. I googled it and YT it and cant figure it out. Most ppl only talk about fancy morphs and they all forget about the normal. lol
Help! I can’t keep the cool side of my ball python tank warm enough. It’s almost always at 72 so I brought a heater in there but I feel like the heater is too unreliable and gets too hot too fast. Do you have any ideas of keeping the cool side a little warmer?
I was told my male is a Lesser Banana Kingpin, is there a way i can send you pics or post them for you to see? I'm new to the ball python world and not sure if what I was told is accurate.
@@ChrisHardwickanimaladventures if you do , also include how Male or female make a difference as in if the female is this gene and Male this gene does it matter or is it the same outcome either way. Thanks chris keep up the great videos ! You have been my teacher of choice for things that confuse me being that I am able to learn easier through you
"The cool thing about this is you can hit the back button and it goes right back to where you were which is pretty awesome" everyone who almost gets caught on the wrong site lmmfao
Some people have claimed they have made a Super Pinstripe, but I also heard you can't make one and that it's dominant. Never tried to make one myself, would be an interesting project.
