THANK YOU, THANK YOU! My boyfriend’s mom passed away and he ALWAYS says her farina was the absolute best. she never wrote down the recipe, but I can’t wait to make this for him. you’re a lifesaver! you are amazing!!!!
@@Chefzeecooks I love the vid, but you had me double checking my screenshot every time you added something lol maybe put the measurements as you go as well. This is constructive feedback for the Karen’s in the comments. Thanks Chefz.
When I was a little kid (over 40 years ago) someone had made me cream of wheat that I still talk about over 40 years later because it was like no other and I could never replicate it. She has since passed away so I could never replicate it😞. but for whatever reason I feel in my heart THIS is how she made it and I CAN’T WAIT to make this!!!! I am so excited….Thank you so much for sharing this…I felt your connection to your gmom and how you said, “you don’t want to mess it up”. I don’t want to mess it up now😂
I am from Commonwealth of Dominica, in the British West Indies. My Auntie (R.I.P) used to make this for us growing up, with Bayleaf added. Your video really takes me back. Thanks.
Team cold farina 🌬️🍚! I love that it turns into a pudding...my mom would whip it up in the blender, the texture is amazing. Love how this recipe is basically dedicated to your abuelita ❤️...Dios bendiga a todas Las abuelitas, including my mom whom is an awesome grandmother to my two children.
Thank you for sharing the recipe. Mi mama went home with Dios in Dec de 2018 and this video brings me beautiful thoughts and memories of her when I was a child she loved making us farina and we would add a lot of azucar and evaporated milk on top. So delish. Miss you vieja gracias por todo. Te amo mama
I'm so sorry for your loss! I wish I could give you a hug. I know that the loss of a loved one is never easy. I pray that you get through this difficult time. So happy that this dish brings back happy memories 💕
Hot & thick! My grandma made the best farina, this comfort food definitely reminds me of & makes me miss her that much more! But I bet our grandmas are cooking up a storm in heaven for everyone! Thank you for this💘💘
This video gave me chills at the end. My mother in law has been making this for my daughter since she was a baby (she is 9 now) and she will make ALOT for us to take and I would heat it up for a couple more days as breakfast. I always ask her for the recipe but these Dominican ladies can not explain and I have always been scared to not learn how to make it and if she passes away this is exactly how my daughter and I will react to Farina every time we smell it from a far. This video makes it seem so easy and I can not wait to try it. You have showed me how to cook SO many meals. Before finding your channel two years ago I did not know what the heck I was doing in the kitchen. I am so grateful for you if I ever meet you in person I might kisss you lol. Thank You Chef Zee!
I appreciate that you choose to do these videos and share your cooking experience, being that I was raised by my father & grandfather don’t have much experience in the kitchen with no woman around ... but this video touched my heart because one thing he knew how to do well was farina and since he passed I have not had it for fear that will taste nothing like his && this video has encouraged me to try to make him proud and enjoy one of my favorite childhood dishes again. So thank you so much Sonia
Thank you, ty... for this video. I can relate being raised by my grandma in PR and watching her cook everyday made me the great cook I am today. I try to make every Spanish food just like she used to make it. Especially, around the holiday's. I miss her dearly.
I've made Farina every morning for the last 18 years! It's the only breakfast food my 19 year old son will eat. I've also made a dessert version, "Sweet Farina" same ingredients, but with a little more butter and condensed milk in place of the white sugar....Delicious!
I just made this recipe and it’s taste absolutely amazing! My only suggestion it to lessen the amount of sugar.. but other than that this recipe is a keeper. I will be making again . Thank you ♥️
Z.... i need more pescatarian recipes pls!!! Shrimp, salmon etc!! This summer my goal is to keep a strict pesca diet... pls help. I remember my grandma making king fish, crab, pulpo, bacalao, etc.. but im so scared to make it myself and need guidance 😘 btw grandmas are sooo special.... the love i have for my 'ma is endless. Ty for sharing 😍❤
My family makes something similar like that but it's am I and my uncle mom made it like the same kind of way but the only difference was instead of using just cinnamon and cloves to it I haven't had it in years and then about back in November I want to see my family in Connecticut and my uncle just like pulled it out of the microwave which he made the day before and he gave it to me and it just brought back memories so I know where you going with it. It looks really good and I'm glad you're able to go down memory lane. ♥️🙂
I love this as child and now married, I realize thanks to you that I was doing it WRONG! I was using harina de maiz😬 Now my husband is amazedd! He licked the whole plate up😁😂
Chef Zee My mom still makes great farina the only problem she doesn’t live close to me, but after watching your video I’m definitely going to try and make it for myself. Thanks again great video!
My West Indian family makes farina or sago porridge in water with whole cinnamon, cloves and freshly grated nutmeg and a little bit of brown sugar towards the end. Cornmeal porridge gets the same treatment but a little coconut milk. We add Demerara sugar and different milk to our own bowls.
I loved this so much! Thank you for sharing your amazing recipes with us, you never disappoint. The first time I saw one of your videos was when I was asked to make the pernil for a family gathering and was frantically looking for a really good Dominican recipe. Needless to say everyone was licking their plates clean by the end of it ❤️ it was my first time making it and I couldn’t believe it myself LOL
I made this for my boyfriend and I soo good!! Thanks for sharing your recipes!! This one also reminds me of my childhood - I’d love to see an avena recipe!!! 🤤🤤
Team hot. And i ate it off a plate with a spoon and would eat the circumference. Scooping the outside untill there was only a little ball in the middle left. My ma would make this in the winter and it would always be so comforting
Yay! I'm so happy to see this video. I've been anxiously waiting for this recipe. Thank you so much for sharing the recipe and the love for your grandmother. Just a quick question, what brand of farina do you use?
Thanks so much for posting this !! I love farina ! I love your videos and how genuine you are and sharing your family stories. I will definitely be making this recipe. I have been waiting for this post 😀😀
