Robert Blake lived a couple streets over from my late mother-in-law's home and Vitello's was our favourite family Italian restaurant. We had been there the Sunday night prior to the murder and were completely shocked by the events when we heard. It really was just crazy. Later my sister covered the civil trial for a local Burbank paper where befriended Dominick Dunne and they became email pen pals for a short while. The whole thing was just wild, like a very bad made for television movie.
Dunne was wrong to say that the only reason Blake got out on bail was because he was a celebrity. There were huge problems with the prosecution's case, not to mention they had the most unsympathetic victim.
Murder can't be justified, but Bonny made herself a very tough victim to have sympathy for. That's the only reason an obviously guilty man could be acquitted.
This is a really peculiar court/legal system, if you ask me. Even though someone is found to be not guilty of a crime in a court of law, and thus presumed not responsible for that crime, they can still come back and sue him civilly? Well, is he responsible or not? If he IS responsible why isn't he in prison? If he's NOT responsible how can you sue him in civil court? It's contradictory.
+Rob Robert Not guilty merely means there was not enough evidence to convict in court, not neccessarily that the defendant is innocent, to my knowledge only one country has a Guilty / Not Guilty / innocent ruling and that is scotland.
Having watched more of this and heard his subsequent comments, I have to agree with you. His arrogance and snobbery shine through, not good. What is really ironic is, when he was first in Hollywood he was known as a "D" lister, only invited places if an extra person was needed. In other words, not part of the mainstream, then he turns around and becomes a bigger snob than anyone.
I thought the same when I heard him say that. Dominick seemed to think he was above everyone else even though he spent his time chasing murder trials. That's pretty low rent in my mind.
That's correct, despite his hobnobbing with upper crust society he himself was a rather low class cheap man and he knew it so he took extra pains to elevate himself, case in point. Sad.
I have to give the devil his due though, and state I love his books, he can certainly write! My favorite of all is "An Inconvenient Woman" about the Vicki Morgan-Alfred Bloomingdale case. Fascinating and TRUE!
"Everybody back up, we've got a gun." LOL! Hilarious! What does he think the gun is going to do - spontaneously explode? Spontaneously begin firing off rounds in every direction? People and guns, man - delusional fear and paranoia. It's an inanimate object, people. It's no more dangerous than a car, depending on who's in control of it.
She was no loss to the world. She was a hardened con-artist and criminal who had crossed too many people. I feel sorry for Blake as I dont feel he is guilty....he is a victim.
What bothers me is that the Prosecution "was concerned and worried" about Blake's deep pockets, high priced defense attorney's and money to hire their own investigators. Now what this says to me is that the average Joe is relegated to a defense that he or she gets, dependent upon financial status. No wonder the number of wrongfully convicted numbers keep going up and up and up, they couldn't afford to defend themselves! Where in the constitution does it state that your defense is regulated by your "deep pockets"?
Wow hollywood can't write them this good. Blake was amazing in 'in cold blood' . I laughed when the neighbor said his behavior was 'performance driven'
I'm sorry, but you are ignorant. Blake was planning Bonny's demise from the moment he got sucked into marrying her. The calling card evidence is very damning. Why use the card at all if he's not trying to hide something? And why did all the calls stop on the day she was killed? He found someone to help him and he killed her. There is NO JUSTICE if you are a star in L.A. Bad as she was, she did not deserve the death penalty. Blake and OJ can go to hell where they belong, the people know the truth.
They deserved each other. He would have never had his problems with Bonny had he kept his pants zipped the night he met her. She would not have been murdered had she not been out screwing over gullible, horny men. Ultimately, they were both immoral, selfish jerks.
Robert was lucky he didn't get the death penalty - murder in the first degree. I can't imagine what kind of life their daughter is going to have as a result of this. There are going to be some confused genes in her blood.
Bonnie wasn't the only one in the throes of "karma" here. This old piece of shit treated his ex wife horribly and solicited and planned the murder of a woman,; I honestly don't feel bad for neither of them as they are both deplorable human beings in the grand scheme of things. He thought he was getting a younger and hot piece of ass, he to her, was the sucker simply born that minute. Nothing more, nothing less.
So embarrassing, so ridiculous, he is so guilty, he leaves the gun in the restaurant, he parks almost two blocks away, his actions afterwards were ridiculous, he's not even a good actor. He was pretty much a washed up ugly old toad of a has-been at this point, he should just retire from the world. Ugh, hideous horrible dreadful man. and they put HER on trial! Unreal.
What is it with these Hollywood types and having to scheme and murder each other the second shit hits the fan. Using her wrap sheet to distract from the fact he's a sick murderer is sad, at least she's been done for her crimes.
He is guilty as hell for killing a mother of four children, all what she had done was skimming men who were silly enough to be skimmed, not comparable. He made her pregnant by having unprotected sex while he barely knew her, totally his fault, no one else to blame, then tried to pull off silly comedy with parole. Not sorry for him at all, pity he did not pay fully for his crime.
That is scamming and not skimming. Fake credit cards, forgery, husbands dying under mysterious circumstances and a slew of other charges, Having four children doesn't erase that. Her pregnancy was planned by her by having sex at her fertile time and lying to Blake about being on the pill. Not totally his fault but he was stupid to have unprotected sex with her. Yeah, and he probably hired someone to kill her and is guilty.
I feel this was one of the weaker episodes of this good series. They tried to make it look like Blake was innocent when he clearly wasn't. Trashing the victim doesn't excuse Blake's crime. There is no doubt he did it to get custody of the little girl. Now he needs to ask himself whether it was all worth it, now that he is a pariah.
Only 50 % of a civil trial needs to believe a person is guilty. With a murder trial 12 ppl have to decide if your innocent or guilty. lack of evidence will get a innocent verdict. Small wonder why how some found innocent is found guilty in a civil wrongful death law suite. With 6 ppl judging it seems easy.
No matter what her background was, she did not deserve to e murdered. Blake is a cheap ugly has been loser, he is not a man. A cheaper uglier more low class thug never existed, he is despicable.
Bonnie Lee was a SKANK! She was an ID THIEF! She was a parasite to society- ruining peoples lives! She should have die earlier!Someone should have kill her earlier!!! Society is a better place without her! Amen!
As far as I know being considered "trashy" by someone does not deserve the Death Penalty. She did not shoot someone in the head at close range. As far as cheap trashy and lowlife it doesn't get any worse than Blake.
Robert got screwed in the end it destroyed his life the sleazy mainstream media once again showed the inept assholes they are,the woman was trash and at least the father wan't to look after his kid,if anyone deserved what she got she did,she pretty well asked for it
well if only 50 % of juror's in a civil trial is all it takes to be convicted than its a small wonder why ppl in murder trials are innocent only to loose to a civil trial later. Not much of a loss since its a $ payout. I'm not saying she deserved to die, but you can't go around messing with ppl lives before it costs you. Thank god her kids weren't there, thank god nobody went after her kids. A loving mother doesn't risk putting children in danger for 15 min of fame. She reached fame in death, he big dream... she still only got 15 min.
O.K.I agree, may be she was a whore and led a crazy life, but she had children and nevertheless she was a human being. And by the way....in our days there a lot of young women who behave in a worse way, call themselves artists, actresses, but what they do is nothing but prostitution. This women can be found in special circles all around the world, sometimes there are artictles in the yellow press about them and nobody calls them prostitutes. So Bonee was perhaps not a very good character, but she was honest and not pretending being someone she wasn´t !
"Bring it to me -- am I 'rich & famous' enough to get off, or am I not?! Do I still got it, or do I still got it?!" Nuts. From the very beginning, there's a Robert-Blake-shaped hole where the suspect should be. That's no coincidence -- any cop knows that. The real question is, exactly like OJ or any other celebrity, can he muster the legal firepower to get the outline of the hole obscured enough in court to get him off?
Robert Blake is a very sad man and I'd say he's got some serious mental issues probably resulting from his childhood. Blake was a washed out wanna be actor still reaching for the stars of Hollywood and very 'full of himself'. Got together with this real cheap, slutty woman and it didn't work. Did he arrange this murder? Probably, but Blake was neither smart enough or a good enough actor to get away with it. I saw him on some talk shows during his trial and he was "right out there" (crazy). I think he is crazy enough to have done it just for the publicity. I worry about that child of theirs though. She's got some unscrewing of her head to do when she grows up. That home couldn't have been normal.
Don't forget, Blake shot up heroin when he was younger. Not good for one's body. I love how he mentions God these days, too bad he didn't find God when he was younger.
+kitkat2853 Wannabe actor? Full of himself? You know nothing of the man, he is very real and Hollywood always hated that. You must be very young(under 40) and know nothing from the 40's through the 70's because Blake did work that was monumental and he was in demand for over 4 decades with over 160 performances(IMDB) from 1940-97''. Who the heck are you that you make such comments that hold no water or facts whatsoever? His performance in Capote's, "In Cold Blood" should have got him the Oscar that year and the film was nominated for 4 Oscars. Really who the F are you to judge someone without doing ANY research? A JEALOUS NOBODY at a computer with an uneducated opinion as usual. Blake was also worth 25 million dollars at the time of the murder, yeah a failed actor right? No, an actor who had a great career and was 69 years old and chilling in LA because he no longer needed to work. What time in your life have you ever made it to that level? Never because you are obviously a freakin' loser who is too disgusting, and who is probably obese because you can't even post a photo of yourself. I reckon it is embarrassing so you use your cat, we all know the type that do this, so does my sister because she is fat like you probably are with very few friends, and your cat is your best friend. This man lost everything and you have no sympathy but you just believe the press and what you hear in the headlines like an idiot. Have fun with your best friend and sorry about your life.
+l8on99 Get off your high horse idiot. If you can't say something nice stop hiding behind your computer screen with your f*** up comments. If you don't agree, say that without attacking. YOU are the sicko buddy. Now go back under your rock.
Cathy Kale Beat it lady and I do not really care what you think. But of course everyone who speaks out against morons who create biased opinions based on no facts and what they hear from the media lives under a rock. Not so, and admittedly I should not have attacked but I just can't stand stupid people, but that does not make me a sicko. The world would just be better off without these sheep(IMO) who have no knowledge of the subject, cannot even read or do any research before typing and think their opinion is worth something.
watching this u really think blake had somthing to do with his wifes mureder but watch the interview robert blake and piers morgan on youtube made me think he didnt and i believe him
what would we do without know it all trolls like you? you might get a point or two across if you learned how to do it with dignity and respect. sadly, not possible for you so as I suggested before, crawl back under your rock. BTW - you have now been blocked. no time for losers like you. have a happy life.
I think Blake knew right from wrong, good from evil and decided to try and do the right thing not only for the little girl but also for humanity in general and look at what it got him. The jury was absolutely correct to find him not guilty. But Bonny Arkansas the Wicked Evil Toxic Whore Devil in Disguise made his life miserable as any wicked evil toxic con artist whore would do to anyone..Blake lost his savings and his future in Hollywood defending himself but sometimes things happen that seem to be unfortunate at the time (loosing your job etc) but later the unfortunate incident turns out to be the best thing that can happen to you. So maybe Blake is happier and enjoying life more wherever he is now than before when he was living in Hollywood. If he is then maybe good has won over evil. .
