Terror in Telluride After Eva Shoen is gunned down in a chalet in Telluride, Colo., some people suspect the murder has something to do with a battle over her family's business, U-Haul.
My mom had this saying when they are young they break your back, when older they break your heart. Still rings true today. People are just not content with all the millions they have they still want more. If I won the lottery or had some kind of win fall I would purchase a plot of land and have small dogs running all over the place. A dog is man's best friend.
Bravo Chloe! Your mom was a wise lady. If you win the lottery and get that land, I'll come help you take care of al the pooches. I have the same sort of dream, except I'd like to take in goats, sheep, horses and donkeys too! My geriatric pug has been my loyal friend for 13+ years. Cheers!
talitakoomi Done deal. My pooch died Aug 9/2014 age 14 yrs 9 mos. I will never get over him ever but I still have that dream. Animals get along with each other people don't.
Hello Chloe,I´m a German girl and I´m going to improve my English in watching this interesting documentations . And it´s the same point you mentioned,I also don´t understand why these people are never satisfied in having so much money everyone is dreaming of!In my opinion there values are totally wrong, they are so self-centered and never satisfied and very greedy in getting more and more and then there is a special turning point which finally puts them over the edge and then crimes are happening, this is so unnecessary and sad!!!And you are right, animals are so gratefull, they never disappoint people like human beings do with each other!Hope,I didn´t make too much mistakes and you understand me!!
Kelly BitchPlease I would give you a "A" , of course I understand you. When a person has billions of $'s and they are not content then something is seriously wrong with them. The guy Madoff who bilked people out of billions was worth 18B himself, so why.? They must go to bed dreaming of money. All the best Kelly!
So we're meant to believe that this was an accidental shooting during a random burglary, but he didn't take the valuable necklace on her headboard, or any other valuables for that matter?? And then there's the "other burglaries" in the area at the same time. Surely the victims would've mentioned that to the hoards of police and private investigators in the area just after the murder? Very fishy
Testify Sister Summer! I seriously thought the same EXACT thing the second the narrator said she locked the *SIX* dogs in the laundry room. Then I saw your comment and was like "Preach On!"
Ah, so Joe is still in charge of U-Haul. That explains the crappy customer experience I have enjoyed in the past. What a shame that the father had to experience all of this drama before taking his own life, rather than enjoying the fruits of his tireless work over the years. He was so generous with his kids, but watched most of them grow into greedy, disgusting men. As for Joe, I wonder how it feels knowing that his own father thought he was a giant schmuck and a killer. You know you're a dick when your own father hates you.
It seems to be a common mistake among the wealthy: making sure that their kids are wealthy too, without having to work for that wealth. It never turns out well. They grow up to be entitled, lazy, selfish people who have NO IDEA of what it is like to work hard for their daily bread or to wonder how they'll make it to the next paycheck. Wealth seldom builds character. Financially successful people should wait until the kids are grown and have worked and see what sort of people they've become before allowing them any stake in the company or any inheritance. It is OK to give your resources to someone more worthy than your offspring; in most cases, it is even wise.
Well, in all fairness, of the two older sons, one became a Lawyer, and the other became a Medical Doctor. While the third (evil) son, earned a Harvard MBA. Not for nothing, but none of those achievements suggest lazy people, with no idea what it is to work.
It is possible that the killer was paid a very large sum of money to take the blame alone? it could happen. I feel so terrible for the father, he worked so hard to build this company, I hope Joe's children would do the same to him when he is old!!
+vermilionskin : Unlikely that he kept quiet in exchange for a big payment. After all the money would be of no use to him during a twenty-four year prison sentence. If the brothers had been involved he would have used this knowledge as a bargaining chip to get a reduced sentence. That would make more sense. The brothers were evil for sure but I don't believe they were involved.
***** They actually cited the source directly after the quote. It's from the book of Proverbs, chapter 29, verse 17. Pardon my curiosity, but...what makes that statement, "ignorant" to you?
loveinspired7 Discipline should not be practiced for selfish reasons. Just because you want rest doesn't mean its OK to spank a child. Children need direction, not abuse.
***** I totally get that...and you are absolutely right...however, the word, "discipline" doesn't necessarily mean "spankings"... I guess it really just depends on one's individual understanding of that bible verse...when I read that verse, I wasn't automatically thinking of spanking or beating a child, but I'm sure that there are countless others that had the same understanding that you did! When I read that verse, the word "training" and "rearing" were the first words that I thought of...as parents, we are charged with not only feeding, clothing and sheltering our children but we are to also REAR them and that includes, teaching them right from wrong, giving them a solid, spiritual (not necessarily religious) foundation...try to make them fall in love with doing the RIGHT thing, for the sake of righteous conduct as opposed to a hopeful reward... Of course, we must also strive to be their BEST examples in their lives, but not even that is guaranteed...we don't know what the future may bring... we could do all the right things as parents and still end up with a child that decides to choose the wrong path for their life...we just have to do our best and hope that our children will appreciate us enough to want the best for themselves as they mature.
here's what actually happened (my theory): the brothers DID hire that guy, but they told him right up front that if he got caught he better not turn states witness or take a plea deal because if he rolled over on them they wouldn't be able to help him and then they'd all be in jail.... on the other hand if, they said, if you take the wrap we'll get you the best defense money can buy and we'll use all the resources we have to get you off or at least get you less time... the killer really had nothing to lose he was going to jail for a long time anyway... he probably has a couple mil waiting for him if he ever gets out, too.... there's NO WAY that this was random...!!!
Or could it be they'd offered/promised him millions to stick to a particular story "if" he was ever fingered, take the wrap and he'd come out a well off cad??? There are many individuals who do looong stretches in prison on promise of millions to them or their loved ones...And if the crime is say robbery of a Brinks truck, Bank or any institution or home where they've come away with lots of cash or valuable assets (worth millions), they'll hide the loot until they are freed years later. I believe the killer hit the lottery on this one!...
My first response to your post is actually in agreement with you and more about my amazement that these officers would draw the conclusion that this wasn't a hit based upon the killer's version of events! Maybe those officers were taken off to the side and promised some incredible funds (as well) to turn a blind side to the facts! There's no way I believe this guy just happened to kill Sam's wife in a random burglary....and NOTHING, NO VALUABLES were stolen...when in fact, the perpetrator's story is that his intention/s was to burglarize homes! I DO believe they had Sam's wife killed to frame him...
This really makes me think another way about UHaul now. That old man worked his butt off to build that company for his kids & to have them force him out is so disrespectful. I also think that killer got paid a huge amount of money, too, to take the fall and keep his mouth shut. One of the brothers who controls the company is worth several billion dollars now. They used that woman to do exactly what they accomplished. And if he's not out already, you can pretty much be sure that the killer is walking out of jail worth some millions in the near future.
The police ACT like it's impossible for a person to KEEP THEIR MOUTHS SHUT IF SOMETHINGS IN IT FOR THEM!!! HE KNEW HE WAS CAUGHT! SO WHY NOT KEEP YOUR MOUTH SHUT TO GET MONEY FOR YOU AND YOUR FAMILY! THE SADDEST PART IS HOW THE "SON" FELT SOOO ENTITLED TO SOMETHING HE DIDNT WORK FOR!!!
It's crazy how the needle marks and cut out of the bed spread was never explained. But why target the wife in a hugely convoluted attempt to frame the husband? They could have put that sort of effort into simply killing the husband and making it look like an accident or something. I think the guy who confessed maybe was breaking into homes in the area at the time, but it's just as likely that he falsely confessed to killing her too. Happens all the time. Really bizarre case.
Let's see, belligerent, obtuse and dishonest in all attempts to interview them by the cops. Hire their own "investigators" to find information that does NOT implicate them in any way. Greedy, angry and enraged by their father's attempts to remove the majority control of uhaul from them. Spoiled, narcissistic and not terribly hard working males with a sense of entitlement so profound that it turned them into significantly nasty people by the time they were young. Although I agree that LS was an incredibly hard working man that created an empire, too bad he didn't teach his kids the value of hard work and integrity, instead they were raised as Princes, to the detriment of everyone around them. My heart goes out to the family and friends of the murdered woman, how very sad.
its unfortunate that these children and others think they are entitle to anything! This man worked hard and pass on the company and then these people got so greedy and think they are entitled from what this man worked so hard for. It is so sickening that these brats act like this
Eva was clearly shot in bed, that coward claimed she "attacked" him, but the blood was on her bed. The coward walked in and murdered an innocent woman in her own home, in her bed. She didn't have the chance to fight back. And the fact the coward had also done a few other burglaries doesn't prove anything. With a sociopath/opportunist like him, it's not unbelievable that he'd steal from a few random houses first before doing the evil job he'd arrived there to do and Eva's house.
Why would they kill the wife, when the husband is the target? Looks like a panicked burglar shot her, just as the killer admitted. Everything else is coincidental. Sad tale.
Sam strikes me as a complete control freak. Would a common thief leave 2 needle marks, and remove DNA evidence, or would that be a medical guy? Can't help but wonder if Sam and Eva were headed for a very expensive divorce.
