I have also found out that part of Oyibi gets flooded when it rains. I think we all know the rains are not the problem but the poor town and city planning. People build on water ways and water will find it way. Another problem is that we are gradually selling out every land in the country and thr trees and top soils are being cleared out to make way for houses. These same trees and vegetation are what was stopping all the rains from coming down from the mountains. I say we implement a law that if you cut a tree or clear a land for building, you plant 2 more in its place.

So true. No one should buy or build a house on wetlands that took thousands and thousands of years to create by Mother Nature. It should be against the law to build on such places. Not only will the soil be destroyed, the buyer will take a total loss. Many people might not think about it but each wet land area with a house on it will slowly sink and the ego system of say a living micro biological life forces will be discontinued. It’s like a insult against mother natures functioning existence,wisdom and justice. Where are the geological data, and environmental engineering research to support such valuable scientific information. All parties must work with the building process before hand and work the legal system to protect wild life resources and reserves and future home owners. If greed is allow to be the final factor than everyone takes a loss. Another point is that mankind and woman kind for the most part, does not see microscopic life forms as say are ancestral beings in the millions of time it took to develop life. We must learn how to respect a single bacterial species. Look vivid 19 show us a intelligent life form or multiple organisms can not only multiply but change its form to survive and displace us as humans at any time if we are not in great health. Our entire economy was changed upside down. I am sure those in the financial sector did not consider such things in their projections. It’s because our thinking must change. Either we learn to live with the creators world view of nature or we suffer the consequences.
@twanacisse3950
@twanacisse3950 Год назад
Sorry I meant covid 19 not vivid 19. I type fast and this typing system keeps trying to rethink or rewrite what zI am saying. That’s why computers and robots should never be allowed to replace humans. Again our thinking must change. It’s not African centered nor Pan African. 😢😊😢😊🎉

Community cleaning should be a responsibility of us all.

That's a lot to place on individual communities! The communities can create gutters by their homes, no problem to that for most people, but the problem is where this gutter water will collect at. The water has to be directed somewhere and it is that 'somewhere' that most people have problem with. If you can build a house, you can build a gutter to carry rain water or any surface water from your house, but to where?

See, my parents' house is just a two bedroom boys quarter design and stuff are always breaking, needing replacement plus a fresh coat of paint is needed every two yrs or so. As expected of every house, there's maintenance cost. Depending on what fittings you installed, it may cost a lot to maintain and change them when they break, which they will sooner or later. Not to talk of property rates and other taxes the government keeps introducing for house owners. So thinking you'll build and "live rent" is not exactly the case. More the reason to build quality and install long lasting fittings so things don't break when you're broke. I've seen a lot of previously nice houses now in a mess due to the maintenance burden on owners. If you're renting, you don't think much about those.

@ghsheabutterblacksoap2846
@ghsheabutterblacksoap2846 2 года назад
@@aberba Sometimes, the owners inherited the house; the older the house, the higher the cost of maintenance. From personal experience, an inherited property is sometimes a responsibility, not a 'free' gift. If the inherited property is rented out, the rent goes back into the house in the form of maintenance. Once you decide to live on the rent income, the property will run down due to poor or lack of maintenance.

Why are we not talking about the drainage system in the area? The government has no qualms in taxing homes but where is the drainage/sewage system in these area? The major problems in most of these areas are the non-existence of proper drainage systems. Buildings are sprnging up everywhere these days but no connected drainage systems to battle water. Water will go somewhere one way or the other. I don't have a drainage system at my area in a suburb of Amasaman and that creates an issue of where the water will go if I even create a gutter by my house. The country is developing faster than the government can keep up with and these people are more interested in new 4-wheel drives than creating solutions to our drainage system problems. It is happening all over Ghana because of poor drainage systems
@AfricaBuildingHub

Thanks for the detailed feedback Jacob. So I am guessing it’s going to get worse as more buildings spring up with our current poor drainage systems?
@Bilegagn
@Bilegagn 2 года назад
@@AfricaBuildingHub Mostly likely my brother! Most of the houses you see built these days are not connected to any major sewage or drainage systems yet these take up land that used to soak up running water whenever it rains. The ground where we build is compacted and concreted which gives water no chance to move anywhere. Even developed countries with better drainage/sewage still have problems of flooding because land used for buildings
@kwabenatree
@kwabenatree 2 года назад
You people complaining about things you dont even understand. It has nothing to do with Government and their 4 wheel driving. In developed countries we get flooded because Maintenance is too expensive. They spend billions of euros just to clean the sewages. since Ghanaians thinks everything is free in developed countries. lets go to Ghana. The One reason Ghana get flooded is the to buy and building a house. They have to make it harder to build a house and expensive to even start building. You said it yourself Ghana is developed faster than the government can keep up. People are building all over the places. There is not water, eletricity, roads and people have luxurious building standing. lets forgot about the sewages system. We dont have sewage system in Ghana because of JJ Rawlings. It was even a crime to have a toilet in your own house. why do you think thete so much public toilets. 10 room house but no toilet. 😉.

While you're trying to lecture me about developed countries issues, most developed countries cities government construct roads and water systems to new developing areas right before people or companies start building.
